Red zone is great, but as Bill Walsh said, it's easier to score from outside the 20 than from inside the 20. High-scoring offenses get some of their points before the defense gets compressed on the short field. You have to be really good or really lucky to punch the ball in, methodically, with nothing but short game, and you can see that in KC's drooping points production this past season. They try to set up shot plays, but sometimes they're just not there, especially when the front 7 are having their way with KC's front 5.
