I understand your methods for the video, but I think going for the best condition possible from BackMarket would have been a better test. Given that Apple replaces the externals of their phones, you’re basically comparing a new iPhone to a used iPhone, and being slightly disappointed that the new phone looks better than the used phone. If you had gone with the excellent condition, you would be comparing the phones on a much more level playing field, and then making the determination on whether or not a couple scratches and 98% battery health vs a new iPhone is worth it for £180 difference. Cheers,
Yes and no. "Best condition" from back market often means replaced parts with OEM manufacturers, it's a bit tricky. That said I bought a surface laptop there and am 100% satisfied.
The reason why the 12 mini from back market had such a low battery health percentage was because the 12 mini had a huge flaw in it's battery as apple made it far too small for it's internal components, therefore it's battery health decreases significantly lower than other iphone models
That would be the case, though speaking from personal events some friends who had bought Iphones from Backmarket always seem to have battery related issues after a year of purchasing the refurbished device.
The main reason why people chose apples refurbished products is because apple puts the used internals into a brand new body with a new battery so you are pretty much getting a brand new phone besides the brains. And you get a new cable with it. Whereas backmarket the battery could be low and the condition can be bad.
Could you please explain how it works with the Apple student discount, in my case they want to confirm it through Uni days. So what did u mean, when u said, that they don’t even care to check that.
A few weeks ago I bought a 256GB Samsung S22 Ultra from Back Market in "Good" condition for only 660€ (about 565£). It looks brand new except for 2 tiny scratches on the corners of the screen. The battery easily lasts an entire day. The display has been replaced at some point because when you look very closely you can see glue residue in between the top and bottom seams. But thats to be expected when you buy refurbished. All in all I'm happy with my "new" phone and I'll probably buy from them again in the future. Oh yeah, only 30 hours after I placed my order, the phone arrived in Belgium all the way from Estonia. That's actually really impressive.
I glad to hear that, enjoy your new phone! Yes that seems par for the course... Do you think it's an original display (oem part)? Also, did you order from Estonia because Belgium doesn't have it's own version of backmarket, or some other reason?
@@whizzard Yeah, I do think it's an OEM part. The quality of the display is very good and it's much brighter then my previous Galaxy S10 was. Also the fingerprint reader (integrated in the display) works a lot faster and more accurate then my S10 did. So if it's an aftermarket display, it's a very good one but I'm pretty sure it's OEM. In Belgium there isn't a version of Backmarket. We Belgians are directed to the Dutch website. And on the Dutch website are sellers from all over Europe. Mine, ReMarket, happened to be from Estonia.
Good to hear... Cause I have come across some comments where people have been given generic batteries... Interesting... I guess the European backmarkets may be somewhat closer linked then the uk one.
Hey, id like to share my experience with backmarket. My first order got canceled because of stock issues. The second one came delayed, and the display on the phone was replaced with an aftermarket one, that was extremely low quality. True tone was non existant, 3d touch didnt work and the touch itself was really not working properly. They happily took it back for a refund though, so its more of QC than anything really
I’ve used Back Market for three years, you are absolutely correct. It’s a quality control issue, because they have so many different sellers they have to rely on the sellers and integrity, and how they do their own quality control
well maybe buy the excellent condition one and dont be cheap. Just because it says good condition is most popular doesnt mean you should go for that one. I have bought both my iphones from them in excellent condition and I have received both on time. The speaker on the bottom did go out on my iphone XS but I've heard people that bought brand new having same issue over time. If you are going to be cheap on a refurbished phone website where you are already paying half the price that is your own problem.
@@ItzzShazey lil bro got offended cause I don't like backmarket lol 3D Touch was not functional, is that good enough for you? No matter the condition the device should be fully functional when sold as refurbished. Touch grass
@@csalamalekym bro I’m not mad you’re just mad I’m saying actual logic to you about your ignorance. It’s just funny how you didn’t deny not buying the fair condition one and yet your complaining you spent 450 on a phone that’s usually like 850. The 3D function wasn’t as good on the iPhone 12 in general compared to the XS and if you did research on the phone you would have known this😂 don’t be mad I’m educating you.
Great review, really helpful. Having owned a 6S Plus from new, I’m thinking about refurbished and looking at a 12 Pro Max. I guess your fair one was just that, so I’d definitely be looking at a much higher condition one. The Apple refurbished is definitely as new and the new case and battery are certainly a plus.
Man just spoil yourself and get a new 15 pro max trading in my XS Max and getting $900 towards im sure dynamic island will be a gigantic jump for you just my opinion though get what u want and congrats on holding onto the 6s plus was my first iPhone ever and got it new
BackMarket provided the platform for 3rd party refurbishers to sell their iPhone products. Unlike BackMarket, if you have trouble with the phone you can easily get it repaired or replaced at the Apple Store. Also Apple Certified Refurbished qualify for the AppleCare extended warranty program.
You are right but the problem is that you find very few models available in apple refurbished section. For instance no iphone 13 pro 256 gb is available right now. While through back market you can always find the model you are looking for.
@@akio2730 plus they are only like 200 dollars cheaper then a brand new iphone.. its literally preference. But if you buy excellent condition phone from backmarket they usually give you a pretty solid phone. Other then the chance of getting battery from 95-100% is random you dont know what it will be at. But you are paying half the price almost even compared to apple refurbished so I would say backmarket is pretty legit. They are only going to get better they havent been around for even a decade yet.
Nice video - well done. I have bought 4 phones from BackMarket and one MacBook Pro and the condition of all 5 have been without any scratches or damage - I bought Fair condition each time as each time the condition has been so good. One of the four phones was an iphone, the other three are Google Pixels. I am shocked at how beat up your iPhone 12 was. What happened?? I am really surprised / shocked.
Thanks! I'm glad to hear your experience has been good... I really don't know, before I'd always been so pleased with the fair ones too 🤷♂️, I guess there'll always be some variation wit different sellers
Interesting video - thank you. Over the years I've bought a few things (mainly Macs, in fact) via Apple's refurbished channel and they've all been very good. Indeed, on occasion I got a better deal than I had expected - a 2017 iMac came with several upgrade options installed (extra memory & upgraded processor), so the 12% saving on the model list price (i.e., without the upgrade options) turned out to be nearer 20% against the new price with the options. So I'm a fan of Apple's refurbished channel. I still think you're over-rating that phone from BackMarket. I would be especially bothered about that battery rating - at 87% it's a long way down the slope. Maybe another couple of years of useable life? You could end up paying another £230 then to replace it, whereas the phone from the Apple channel will be good for 5 years or more. As Captain Vimes spotted, people who buy expensive boots end up paying less for footwear over the long term....
I'm glad you got a good deal from apple, I didn't know there was the possibility of them upgrading you... I hear what you say about backmarket... But I think the other side of the coin is that maybe in 2 years you will want something newer or different anyway. And you still have half the money. And if something happens to the phone, Eh..., it's only cost you half again.
Apple will replace the battery for £60. Then you’re comparing nearly £300 for a phone that was beat to death and a phone that’s pristine for 180€ difference. The better option in this case is getting the excellent condition phone, assuming it comes with 95% or better battery health.
I’ve always wanted to see a comparison between Backmarket and Apple refurbished. Thanks for this! Can you do one with swappa and other refurbished sites? I
Great! im glad to hear it was useful! I have covered Doji but they're only here in the uk, i don't believe swappa operate here... potentially may do other refurbishers at some point... but definitely harder for me if they don't do UK 🤔
I dunno where you are, but my assumption is that their stock cycles... It may be worth waiting a few days and checking again... Not everything was available here when i bought, if I remember correctly.
New subscriber here! Found your channel whilst researching refurbished iPhones and I can’t stop watching your videos. You have a great unique style and video format, looking forward to your next video 😀👍
In my country I always buy and resell phones illegally imported without state taxes (damn, what a sinner I am). And despite the fact that I live on the opposite side of the world from the USA, it always surprised me that both new and used versions for the American market are always so cheaper than any others.
I've heard of people from some parts of Africa using mail forwarders to import from the American backmarket, but I would have thought in SA you may have better options 🤷♂️
Great video man! You should try buying a more expensive tier phone in backmarket, at least good if you really want to have a "clean" phone. I bought my phone in swappie and i bought the C tier one, and weirdly enough they gave me a free upgrade to a "B" grade since the C one was out of stock it seemed. The phone came only with one small sratch on the back glass but the rest was super super clean and really seemed like new. Battery health at 100% and the phone is an american model too. I really encorage people buying used iphones from this two brands since they have a good and trustworthy "name" with tons of happy people with they service :D
Thanks, appreciate it! I do intent to do that in an upcoming video... I'm glad to hear you had a good experience buying refurb, unfortunately Swappie don't appear to operate in the UK... so probably won't be trying them out in the near future. Which country are you ordering from? Presumably not America?
My fair condition iPhone 12 Pro Max looked fantastic. Some very small scratches on the screen and on the surrounding on the case and no dent at all. It could easily pass as a good quality and for a 60-150 price drop depending on colour and quality it’s definitely worth it.
iPhone mini are notorious for early battery deterioration. I have a 13 mini and within a year the battery health was about 80%. I later figured out that the phones weak antennas and the constant signal searching caused a fast battery drain. When I am home, or connected to WiFi, I switch to Airplane mode and use WiFi calling to receive calls and texts. Battery then drains much slower.
i have my 12 mini for one year and half and its at 87% Only charged with 5W apple charger and never charged overnight. The smaller battery shows the degradation sooner i guess
No, but I'd try reloading the listing/using a different browser first... Maybe try a different card if that doesn't work... But make sure you don't accidentally end up ordering a bunch of them 😂
@@whizzard so far it is really good, however I think the battery used is not from an iphone as it says that the part isnt recognised in the setting but it is working fine
I bought an iPhone 13 Pro from back market and its in perfect condition like new and it has 100% battery health. It was like 200€ cheaper than Apple and the packaging looked exactly like the one you got from Apple refurbished. So Backmarket is way better from my experience
Loved your video, Although I wish you would have gotten the excellent condition from Backmarket for a fair comparison. To show which one was worth it. This felt kinda biased since apple had everything changed. But I understand the financial restrictions.
Comparing a Certified Refurbshed Apple phone to a "fair" Backmarket phone is like comparing apples to oranges Youre not even trying to buy the same thing from both places at that point It would have been way more fair to use excellent as a test and then see if it was worth the fewer improvements coming from Apple Rather than getting the cheapest possible refurbish and comparing it to a premium job
just my two sense, id think the fair condition androids that look better than fair is because the outer casing on androids is much easier to replace than apples. id also think that's why apple asks as much as they do for the official refurbished ones as i cant imagine its easy to replace their outer casing.
you were just unlucky with this one, i ordered my 11 pro max from there and also in fair condition and it looked brand new no cracks dents not even a single scratch. One piece of advise for anyone always check who the actual seller is and check their reviews before buying
A video buying an excellent phone from Backmarket would have been a lot better and useful. After watching this video i didn’t learn a thing, i still don’t know the battery percentage of an excellent phone bought from Backmarket, i don’t know if it has battery, outer shell and screen changed (like the apple refurbished one), so it’s simply an unfair comparision. Too bad, the idea of this video was cool.
I bought a iPhone8 from BackMarket and it arrived in a USPS clear plastic back The original package was soaking wet and mangled beyond hope. The post office had pretty done their best to destroy it. My experience from repairng mobile devices for 10 years is that moisture is a phone's worst enemy and I do not doubt that it will spell the end for this unit. That being said BackMarket had only use a small flat rate box for a shipping container and the phone it's self was in a plastic bag and they had used a USPS padded envelope for cushioning. This was substandard packing and I was not impressed. In addition the screen had two scratches on it one was 3 inches long and the other about 1 inch long. I asked for a replacement and they told me they would send me another if I sent the original back to them or I could PAY for a another and then send the other one in for a refund. My opinion is if I have bought and paid for a decent phone then they should provide me with what I paid for. Once I received the replacement then I would return the original phone but they have refused to do that. The bottom line is this was the first and the last time I will do business with them so beware.
I'm sorry to hear, that's disssapointing. Backmarket's packaging is definitely a bit of a sore point, sometimes it's been fine, but that's certainly not the rule... To be honest their return policy may not be fair, but in my experience is the same everywhere... With the exception of cheap aliexpress rubbish where they just refund and have done with it...
Most reputable companies will be glad to send you a replacement and let you return the defective one. They already have your money so they should be glad to send you what you paid for.@@dmo848
Well maybe some of the refurbishers don't, you're not the first person I've seen mention this... I guess that's the problem with backmarket, it's a mixed bag. Gotta read the reviews of individual sellers...
Last year, I got an iPhone 11 from back market in good condition. The phone came bent and refused for a few weeks to issue me a refund after sending the phone back multiple times. I ended up getting my money back but I won’t be buying from them again…
I'm sorry to hear that, that's a shame... Which version of backmarket was it? And was it the seller, or backmarket who was refusing to accept the return?
@@whizzard It was the US version of back market. It was the seller refusing to accept the return. Now thinking about that, there could be a slight possibility I buy from them in the late future
@@whizzard No. I talked to them through backmarket and their policies are that if the phone is damaged you have to return it in three days. I didn’t get to the phone until the third day and I didn’t notice it was bent for a couple days. The seller thought that I had bent the phone but I hadn’t and it was this long process.
Ah, I see, I think we have some consumer protections for that type of thing here in the UK. Doesn't mean some sellers wouldn't try that nonsense... But at least it gives us some leverage.
Well, the black market phone is really in fair condition for that price … while for Apple you got the feeling of a new one which is why you pay the extra extra Apple tax
I bought a s21 5g double sim on BackMarket last month What i found funny is that the regular s21 5g was at like 350€, while the excellent condition double sim version was at 310€..
Yes, I've come across the same thing before, I think it's a result of the individual sellers/refurbishers independently setting their own prices... It is amusing...
thieves - I ordered a huawei p 50 pro - they never put it in the packaging (certified by dhl France and Greece) the mistake but they want my details - identity - RIB BANK ACCOUNT - copy of complaint to the police Only French banks have a RIB BANK ACCOUNT - I'm from Greece, so I don't have one!!! police copy - I have to pay extra money about 150+ for translation into French and for the drafting of the complaint by a lawyer - all this out of my own pocket and all this NOT TO GIVE MY MONEY BACK BUT TO START AN INVESTIGATION INTO WHAT HAPPENED For those who don't believe, I send them the evidence - if it was a serious company, they would sue me for defamation, but how dare they!!! they are frauds
Back Market is a huge scam. Their customer support will respond once per day and ignore everything you write to them and respond with near nonsense. After 2 weeks I'm at the point where I am left with a broken phone that barely functions and won't receive any refund or replacement. Wasted £500. Avoid at all costs!
If I was a reviewer, reviewing back market, and if I had the expenses in hand, I would start with 3 different devices, with a 3 tier system of fair, good, and excellent condition. This, would at least provide a somewhat more controlled comparison. So with that sample, we'd have 27 outcomes, real data to work with. If you want to expose them as a scam, or a legit company, do the real legwork.Thats just my fantasy. Reviewing 1 or 3 buys isn't a great sample. This isn't directed towards you, personally. It's just a thought I had after watching several back market reviews.
The problem with the iPhones recently is even if you have a case the get so scratched up on the sides. I had a 11 pro max and 14 pro max and both are scratched to poop even though the were in official apple cases
The reason Apples prices are so high for refurbished is that they basically replace all components of the phone, so you’re basically buying a brand new phone.
I’m convinced apple refurbished is actually new. But not sure how environmentally friendly it is to needlessly replace certain parts that aren’t broken or damaged though..
In terms of semi objective difference in value: £60 gets you a new battery, £30 for the better condition and £10 for a genuine cable. That makes the objective price difference £100 less. Then you have the peace of mind buying from Apple, the unboxing experience. Then you’re getting close to the Apple refurb only being 25% more.
Should've bought the excellent condition one from Back to have a true comparison. It's obvious that Apple's would be so much better than the "fair" from Back.
I hear, and I will buy something from them in excellent in a coming video, but I was trying to maximise the price difference and had always had a great experience with 'fair' till now...
Oh, sorry to hear... On backmarket the prices go up and down all the time... It's worth checking over a few days before buying... That said the French prices may well just be higher... I always look jealously at the US prices, but forget that we don't have anywhere near the worst here. 😂
The apple certified refurbished is basically brand new... They replace the entire housing, camera lens, battery, and screen. Components remain the same, however.
Backmarket sold you a used phone, with minimal checks done. Would be the same if you bought a excellent condition phone. I doubt they'll of checked every feature of the phone actually worked. Apple sold an actually refurbished phone, new casing, new battery etc. They will of done extensive testing to make sure everything on the phone worked correctly. As you said, there for different people. Apple is for people after something brand new, but cheaper. Backmarket is for people after something cheap, and don't mind if it looks used.
Okay, I wanna give some feedback (nothing bad as really enjoyed it) you have a really soothing voice, the editing is great, the detail on the video is great. So honestly great video, Ik this is really insignificant but you’ve earned my sub :)
Thanks, I really appreciate the feedback and the praise 😊🤣 It's not insignificant at all, I really appreciate you and all the other people who trust me with their time!
Please remember you have six years warranty in UK if you buy from a company. Five years in Scotland. If anything goes wrong with the phone as you haven't caused
Are you talking about consumer protections? I feel that most phones battery's become fairly unusable within that span of time... And that'd just be wear and tear...
i got an 11 pro max in good condition from back market coming up 2 years ago now and it arrived in brilliant condition zero scratches and its served me well. the charger port has recently decided to play up, cleaned it out worked for a bit now broken again, just ordered a new 15 pro instead of going second hand again
I'd like to see the internals. I worked in a mobile phone repair shop and we used to get 'reconditioned' mobiles customers had bought from music magpie. It was ridiculous, missing screws, plates missing, just a mess. They claim they do so many checks and i emailed them to ask why they didn't do the checks they claimed to do. I didn't get a reply.
Hey man, check my other videos, I did a video opening the Backmarket one! That doesn't surprise me unfortunately, big variety in the quality of different refurbishers...
Do you have any experience with the Asurion protection plan they offer during checkout? I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with a refurbished phone from this site but I'm sure my mom will drop the phone. I would like to know if the protection plan would be worth it.
I’d stick to apple refurbished because they can be bought with applecare+ which gives additional 2 years of warranty and discounted price for accidental damages. The apple refurbished devices are much reliable because they sell it like it’s brand new so less worries for consumers end.
The only reason I use the certified refurb is because i tried out BackMarket with an apple watch that came with 80% battery that lasted 4 hours compared to the 18 with certified.
A good reason to buy an iPhone 12 in 2023 or even an iPhone 13 is because they're still 5G phones. And they still use SIM cards. 14 and more are eSIM only.
I purchased a Samsung Galaxy S21+ 256gb from back market for around 350 euros in the good condition because excellent was sold out. The phone arrived in way different packaging than in the video, it arrived in back market branded packaging with the receipt and a thank you note and the phone was in a little compartment in the box in a ziplock back with a clear case on it. It also arrived with a Samsung type a to c cable. The phone works flawlessly and it arrived in good cosmetic condition. The only caviat is that it's a korean model so I can't get the Samsung weather app to detect most greek cities and I don't want to flash this phone to other software just for the weather app, I installed accuweather and it works just as good. I've been using the phone for almost 2 months now and I haven't found any issues, battery life seems to be pretty good considering the phones age. I can replace the battery myself when it's needed. My experience was very positive and I'm already thinking about buying a laptop or ipad from the website as well.
I'm glad to hear you had a good experience! Yeah their packaging is anything but consistent... Sometimes has been pretty poor tbh. But overall I've had good purchasing experience... Let me know if you do buy anything besides a phone from them... I'm considering it myself...
On july of 2023, I bought a refurbished S20 ultra from BackMarket for around $220-$240, and the price is definetly worth the phone I can tell you that. Online it said it had B grade, but there were no visible cracks or scratches on both sides of the phone, and there was nothing wrong with the display (Ghost touches, etc). Unfortunately because of my clumsyness, there are now cracks and ghost touches. But I would definitely recommend buying a phone from BackMarket, they do very well when it comes to refurbished phones.
All of the iPhone models after the 11 pro have a horrible battery flaw Apple is yet to fix (of course 🙄) it’s so bad people want a recall of their 14’s.
It’s almost like you’re clueless and don’t know when you order on back market or whatever it’s called you are literally getting a phone and whatever condition it was traded in then they sort them by fair excellent etc. etc. what Apple does with their certified refurbish is they gave you a brand new back glass a brand new chassis, a brand new battery, a brand new screen. The only thing that’s used in the entire phone is the motherboard and some of the internals such as the taptic engine, the cameras are even replaced and when you got a pristine condition phone from back market when you ordered a fair condition, Phone, did you ever consider the fact that fair condition would be the most popular seller on their website and that they just may have been out of fair condition phones and you just got a free upgrade and got lucky until now just food for thought buddy
Most apple refurbished are brand newest. Most of these phone been returned by customers with issue. After it’s been repair it’s resale as refurbished. So it’s a bargain buying from Apple.
Welcome! Thanks, appreciate it! Everytime I turn on the camera I lose my ability to speak English... Just thought I'd leave a little of it in the vid at the end 😂
Thx for this video cause I was thinking about purchasing from back market anyway but now ill just keep doing my research before purchasing Until I think it good
I have bought 4 (android) phones from Backmarket, all have been very good (and fast delivery) I had a fault with the screen on one, they repaired it within 3 days, it's been perfect ever since.
I bought a refurbished macbook air 2018 from apple in 2019. The condition was almost like new. I used it for 3 years and then sold it again for 250€ less. If refubished, then directly from apple, the devices are like new!
Oh, that's great... Apple products resale value is underrated... They are expensive, but most consumer tech is almost worthless after a few years, except for apple's.
Thank-you 🙏 Maybe... i was going for the max difference here, i do hope to check out some excellent condition tech from them in the near future though.
had 2 phones and a tablet from back market, bought as excellent condition and they were, not a mark on them, worked as they should and all have lasted over 18 months
Oh, I'm glad to hear you had a good experience, and thanks, you've given me an idea to do a follow up on some of the phones I got from there to see how they're doing some time later...
I got an iPad Air 2020 edition from back market for £380 and it arrived in a Apple certified refurbished box with plugs/charger and the iPad was wrapped in the new plastic so I was confused how I got better packaging than you did for your phone lol
That's hilarious, you've got the hybrid experience! If there's one thing about backmarket packaging, it's that it's completely inconsistent... I don't think I've had the same box more than once, even when it's backmarket branded...
This is considered refurbished. So they should replace the battery.
The excellent condition non-Apple supplied phone may still have a 3rd party battery.
That’s what I was thinking!
@@Europhilebut you can check if the iPhone was repaired with original parts in the settings..
The reason why the 12 mini from back market had such a low battery health percentage was because the 12 mini had a huge flaw in it's battery as apple made it far too small for it's internal components, therefore it's battery health decreases significantly lower than other iphone models
Yes, it would seem... A real shame, makes what would otherwise be quite a tempting refurbished option rather dubious...
@whizzard Well at least you still got the 13 mini which ever so slightly improved battery performance, but still a huge flaw from apple's side
It’s also the fact they install new components and you can buy apple care on them as well
Could you put 13 mini battery in it
That would be the case, though speaking from personal events some friends who had bought Iphones from Backmarket always seem to have battery related issues after a year of purchasing the refurbished device.
The main reason why people chose apples refurbished products is because apple puts the used internals into a brand new body with a new battery so you are pretty much getting a brand new phone besides the brains. And you get a new cable with it. Whereas backmarket the battery could be low and the condition can be bad.
They have a whole category called “iPhone With New Battery” in the “Smartphones” section in the Back Market app, just to let you know.
The battery for back market is always over 85 lol
POV: you thought it said Black Market
🤣🤣 My autocorrect every time!
I’m just not realizing it’s not black market
Don’t forget to consider the Apple student discount program. And, they don’t care to check, even if you’re a student or not.
Ahh, I didn't know about that... What percentage do they give? Backmarket do 5% on theirs...
Could you please explain how it works with the Apple student discount, in my case they want to confirm it through Uni days.
So what did u mean, when u said, that they don’t even care to check that.
It’s for orders more than 250
You made the wrong comparison. You should compare back market's excellent condition vs. apple's.
I paused when he said he was getting one in the worst condition because what?

If the screen was not original, can you have your money back?
Wow
WOW this video really engaged me. I didnt even notice you only have 500 subscribers. The editing is awesome and you deserve more fame
Great to hear! Thanks, I really appreciate that. 🙏
@@ItzzShazey lil bro got offended cause I don't like backmarket lol
3D Touch was not functional, is that good enough for you?

I'm glad to hear its useful! The 12 pro max is probably the best top end apple for the money at the moment... I hope it goes well!
if you haven’t bought the phone yet you should wait another month for the 15s to come out, because then the old phones get cheaper
@@shadowz6848 how much cheaper do they get? like percentage wise
I would look into getting the 13 pro since it comes with a 120hz screen
Man just spoil yourself and get a new 15 pro max trading in my XS Max and getting $900 towards im sure dynamic island will be a gigantic jump for you just my opinion though get what u want and congrats on holding onto the 6s plus was my first iPhone ever and got it new
I just found this guy on my recommended and he really should have so many more subs than he does now.
Thanks! I really appreciate that. Hopefully soon 😊
Apple refurbished products are brand new products that have a defect, they fix it and sell it as refurbished
Probably some of them are! I dunno if all of them...
I work in an Apple Store and I confirm that. NEVER BUY AT BACK MARKET
Awesome video with a great production quality! Can't believe you don't have more than 10K subs.
Thanks man, I really appreciate that! Give me a couple of weeks 😜🤣
Only 611 subscribers??? I expected to see at least 100k. Great quality

Apple refurbished doesnt have the iphone 13 mini i want in stock :(
I dunno where you are, but my assumption is that their stock cycles... It may be worth waiting a few days and checking again... Not everything was available here when i bought, if I remember correctly.
Well Im in the united states
The only phones in stock last time i checked were the iphone 12, 12 pro, and 12 pro max
Damn, that's a shame! Maybe still try again in a week or two? 🤷♂️

In my country I always buy and resell phones illegally imported without state taxes (damn, what a sinner I am).
And despite the fact that I live on the opposite side of the world from the USA, it always surprised me that both new and used versions for the American market are always so cheaper than any others.
Tut tut, yeah it's amazing, but I find quite how big the difference is to be the most incredible!
What are good websites to buy refurbished phones? I’m from South Africa
I've heard of people from some parts of Africa using mail forwarders to import from the American backmarket, but I would have thought in SA you may have better options 🤷♂️
Bro snitched himself XDD

Ive bought all my techs in fair on back market and it always amazes me how "fair" quality it is because its really good
Yes, for the most part I've been impressed...
@@whizzardcouldn't agree more
My fair condition iPhone 12 Pro Max looked fantastic. Some very small scratches on the screen and on the surrounding on the case and no dent at all. It could easily pass as a good quality and for a 60-150 price drop depending on colour and quality it’s definitely worth it.
I mean for a guaranteed new screen, battery, frame, and back glass. The price jump isn't too unreasonable
I thought the title said Blackmarket instead of Backmarket 💀💀💀
And you clicked! 🤣🤣
I also thought that
Dude how do you have 660 subs this video is such good quality!
Thank man, appreciate it! Ohh a chess channel, 1.e4 😂
iPhone mini are notorious for early battery deterioration.
It's a shame, but I guess that would make sense... Probably good ideas those are, thanks!
i have my 12 mini for one year and half and its at 87%
Only charged with 5W apple charger and never charged overnight. The smaller battery shows the degradation sooner i guess
I can't wait to see this guy blow up. Just subscribed!
Thanks, I really appreciate that! Hopefully soon 🤣
Hi I am trying to order an i phone 11 from back market and it keeps saying error once ive put my details in do u know why this could be?
No, but I'd try reloading the listing/using a different browser first... Maybe try a different card if that doesn't work... But make sure you don't accidentally end up ordering a bunch of them 😂
@@whizzard I ended up buying one from music magpie instead
Oh, that's another solution 😂. Please let me know how it goes, I've considered buying from other websites to review them....
@@whizzard so far it is really good, however I think the battery used is not from an iphone as it says that the part isnt recognised in the setting but it is working fine

Whoops missed this, thanks man! Really appreciate it.
I bought an iPhone 13 Pro from back market and its in perfect condition like new and it has 100% battery health. It was like 200€ cheaper than Apple and the packaging looked exactly like the one you got from Apple refurbished. So Backmarket is way better from my experience
I'm glad to hear you had a good experience! 100% battery is incredible! I wonder what the story there is....
Loved your video,
Although I wish you would have gotten the excellent condition from Backmarket for a fair comparison. To show which one was worth it. This felt kinda biased since apple had everything changed.
But I understand the financial restrictions.
I may well in a future video... I agree that it wasn't a 'fair' comparison, but I think it is interesting to compare the ends of the spectrum too.
Comparing a Certified Refurbshed Apple phone to a "fair" Backmarket phone is like comparing apples to oranges
Youre not even trying to buy the same thing from both places at that point
It would have been way more fair to use excellent as a test and then see if it was worth the fewer improvements coming from Apple
Rather than getting the cheapest possible refurbish and comparing it to a premium job
just my two sense, id think the fair condition androids that look better than fair is because the outer casing on androids is much easier to replace than apples. id also think that's why apple asks as much as they do for the official refurbished ones as i cant imagine its easy to replace their outer casing.
you were just unlucky with this one, i ordered my 11 pro max from there and also in fair condition and it looked brand new no cracks dents not even a single scratch. One piece of advise for anyone always check who the actual seller is and check their reviews before buying
Which buyer did you buy from? The most popular seller I've noticed is glo sales so Is that who you used?
@@aallen19320 no, idk where u located. Obviously who you get depends on your location, I’m in UK and I think it was music magpie
What? Music magpie sell on backmarket? Or did you buy from them elsewhere?
@@whizzard no i got it off of backmarket
OK, interesting, I'll keep an eye out for them on there. Thanks!
I'm fairly confident in saying a lot of the refurbs from apple are old stock
U can't tell a company that your holding the device for ransom 😂. Until u get a better 1. Never heard that 1.
Most reputable companies will be glad to send you a replacement and let you return the defective one. They already have your money so they should be glad to send you what you paid for.@@dmo848
just to make this very clear to you, back market does not repair devices with their oem parts.
Thanks for letting me know... One more question, was that because you're forced to communicate with the seller to coordinate the return?
@@whizzard No. I talked to them through backmarket and their policies are that if the phone is damaged you have to return it in three days. I didn’t get to the phone until the third day and I didn’t notice it was bent for a couple days. The seller thought that I had bent the phone but I hadn’t and it was this long process.
Ah, I see, I think we have some consumer protections for that type of thing here in the UK. Doesn't mean some sellers wouldn't try that nonsense... But at least it gives us some leverage.
BackMarket refurbished are not actually referbished. They are just used. Apple refurbished are really refurbished.
Well, the black market phone is really in fair condition for that price … while for Apple you got the feeling of a new one which is why you pay the extra extra Apple tax
I thought it looked like it had been in a road crash.
I bought a s21 5g double sim on BackMarket last month
What i found funny is that the regular s21 5g was at like 350€, while the excellent condition double sim version was at 310€..
Yes, I've come across the same thing before, I think it's a result of the individual sellers/refurbishers independently setting their own prices... It is amusing...
I got my battered one from Stock Must Go, with 12 month warranty. Not as battered as I would have liked. Great vid :)
The difference is that iphone use original parts to replace damaged
While backmarket uses replacement parts. Not original
The content quality is amaaazing!! Keep it up 💯

thieves - I ordered a huawei p 50 pro - they never put it in the packaging (certified by dhl France and Greece) the mistake but they want my details - identity - RIB BANK ACCOUNT - copy of complaint to the police
Only French banks have a RIB BANK ACCOUNT - I'm from Greece, so I don't have one!!!
police copy - I have to pay extra money about 150+ for translation into French and for the drafting of the complaint by a lawyer - all this out of my own pocket
and all this NOT TO GIVE MY MONEY BACK BUT TO START AN INVESTIGATION INTO WHAT HAPPENED
For those who don't believe, I send them the evidence - if it was a serious company, they would sue me for defamation, but how dare they!!!
they are frauds
Sorry to hear man, that's terrible! Maybe try making a stink on twitter, sometimes that's the only way to get through to big brands...
I regretted buying new macbook. Should’ve just bought excellent condition one from Refurbed or Black market
My only complaint with Apple Certified, is that they don’t have cheaper options for their phones, like they do for their iPads.
Comparing apples to oranges. "This frickin orange tastes like an orange but i expected it to taste like apple"😂
When i go on backmarket it says the 12 mini is 400+ euros ???? but you say its 280
I just realised there is a pretty considerable price difference between the UK website and the french website lolll
Oh, sorry to hear... On backmarket the prices go up and down all the time... It's worth checking over a few days before buying... That said the French prices may well just be higher... I always look jealously at the US prices, but forget that we don't have anywhere near the worst here. 😂
@@whizzard thanks for replying! but yeaaah in france the price of an iphone XR is the same price as an iphone 11 in the UK!
Sorry man.😭 That's awful.
Same in Spain.

Please remember you have six years warranty in UK if you buy from a company. Five years in Scotland. If anything goes wrong with the phone as you haven't caused
Are you talking about consumer protections? I feel that most phones battery's become fairly unusable within that span of time... And that'd just be wear and tear...

I got an ad from backmarket and a ad for apple before this
🤣🤣 That's hilarious! They've figured us out!
“…this is not competitive…’
Apple: “competition? Never heard of her.”
🤣 Exactly!
Do you have any experience with the Asurion protection plan they offer during checkout?
I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with a refurbished phone from this site but I'm sure my mom will drop the phone. I would like to know if the protection plan would be worth it.
Sorry no, I haven't ever used them. A good case could go a long way though 🤣
I believe some of these certified phones are 14 day returns, they’re just too good, but at their prices you may be better off buying brand new
I’d stick to apple refurbished because they can be bought with applecare+ which gives additional 2 years of warranty and discounted price for accidental damages. The apple refurbished devices are much reliable because they sell it like it’s brand new so less worries for consumers end.
By which time it'll run you 3 phones from backmarket 😂
There's pros and cons for sure...

The only reason I use the certified refurb is because i tried out BackMarket with an apple watch that came with 80% battery that lasted 4 hours compared to the 18 with certified.
oooh, thats really not good...
A good reason to buy an iPhone 12 in 2023 or even an iPhone 13 is because they're still 5G phones. And they still use SIM cards. 14 and more are eSIM only.
That is a very good point... Although networks are finally starting to adop esim here in the uk

Maybe... i was going for the max difference here, i do hope to check out some excellent condition tech from them in the near future though.
had 2 phones and a tablet from back market, bought as excellent condition and they were, not a mark on them, worked as they should and all have lasted over 18 months
Back Market all the way!
