I literally just watched a video that said, whatever you do , do not power on the board with no steppers attached - zero out the pot and then build it up slowly.
Potentially could blow all your drivers
Pretty sure you need to plug in the steppers before installing the drivers and power. Can cause the boards to fry. This was clear in the instructions I received and in some other videos...
No its the other way, for as far as i know. Never head problems. When steppers are conected and there is power dont disconect them, it can (not will) fry the steppers
the formula to regulate the voltage of the dvr 8825 according to the manufacturer's sheet would be "i max = vref ÷ (5. Rs)", because you calculated it with those values
The sample code was just what I was looking for. I wanted to create a custom sketch to control the motors. Thank you!
The code is what we flash to the Arudino so it can control the controllers right?
@@jarodmorris611 yes to control the 8825s that are attached to the cnc shield
@@pepperoni8 Thank you. I've had an idea in my head to make a router table where the lift and fence are controlled by steppers and a pad to dial in the exact distance. Zero out the fence on the bit then input the distance the fence needs to go back. The software between the input and streppers would have to be written. I know python so I think I could do it. Thank you for your reply.
@@jarodmorris611 good luck! Arduino code isn't hard to write. My project was not nearly as useful haha. Mine lifted and lowered 3D printed bubble wands into and out of a bucket. Behind that was a huge fan.
@@pepperoni8 Don't sell yourself short. Toddlers would see you as a rockstar! THE BUBBLE MAKER!!!!
Parabéns pelo vídeo. Muito didático e sem enrolação.
this is an amazing tutorial madam MAKER TUTOR.. kudos..post more of the same kindly
I Must say Thank You Many times and Hat Off - I watched so many tutorials with NO luck Uploading ... Yours was OK from the first tray ... Please Keep up the good work and Keep Us on Loop with whatever You do ... Thank You
So did you get lucky uploading whatever you want to uploading?
Awesome video
Keep uploading this type of useful videos
All the best for future
I tried a few sketches but yours was the one that worked, don't know why, but nice work.
Thanks so much
excellent contribution, I will use it for domitca since I am using nema 17 motors, thanks
To set the stepper motor power the usb arduino and power supply need to be on, also all the drivers share the same ground pin so a male to male wire connected to the multimeer saves having to twist and balance whilst trying to take a reading
Great article that gets straight to the point.
Thank you so much for this video 👍👍👍
Please make video for small lathe machine arduino controlled
I thought powering up the DRV8825 without a motor attached would cause it to fry...what up?
Thanks for the tutorial! I'm using this without GRBL and trying to find out how to add limit switches and push button to start a certain movement. Can you help or do another tutorial about this? Thanks!
great!!!
thankyou, every thing works great
Thank you very much! Very helpful video!!
Very helpful, thanks.
a good technical work for learn / verify thanks
Nice Video! Please keep it going!
What is it ? 0.75 or 1.5A ?
Thank You, Thank You for sharing ...
👍👍
Great job
Hi. If I want to pick a power supply for the shield using all 4 axis. What's the lowest current limit property for the power supply? (0.75Ax4 or 0.75Ax2x4). Is 24V 6A a good option?
Great job, thank you
Great video, can you create a video to show how I can install a 5 watt laser on the CNc shield please.
Have you made or will you make a step by step on how the sketch is fed through the software? would like to see the steps . Thanks
thank you for your informations :) can you maybe help me on how to control the stepper motor speed with a potentiometer knob? how would i implement that?
Thanks for tutorial. I was wondering if i can use 4 stepper motors with this.
Am turning my diy laser engraver into a cnc router and would like to use 2 stepper motors for the y axis.. Thanks in advance :)
Good thank you
I’m a little confused as to the 1.5A. The stepper shows a 1.7A max, so why 1.5A?, is it just to give it a bit of breathing room. Does voltage affect the VREF as well? Is there any difference between 12, 24 or 36v power usage?
excuse do you know how to do a kind of buttons control to move the motors after having all this, because the program only move automatically
I'm a total beginner and don't know anything. Mahalo for the great video. One quick question. Where do the + ans - wires lead to? Do they go to an adapter that plugs into the wall or do they remain unconnected b/c there is a port to plug the little adapter into, and there is a terminal for the other wires.
In other videos they mention you shouldn't install and power drivers unless the steppers are attached without risking burning out the drivers yet here it looks like its done. did you blow out any drivers doing this?
Great Project !
Hi! Wonderful video. I have a couple questions. In your computation of current limit for DRV 8825, where did "x 2" come from? I learned in school you need to divide voltage by resistance to get current. VREF is voltage, isn`t it? Thank you for your time.
Vref is not the voltage that drives current through the motors that is Vmot from your large power supply. Vref is a control voltage its the analog equivalent of a control byte. this formula only works for this driver. different drivers have a different scaling factor and you need to read the data sheet to know how high to set it
@@andrewfell1074 does the voltage of the power change these setting? Can I run 12v at 74W or will I need to use a 24V at 144W? I think the 24V works out to 6A. So I’m wondering if I’m covered if my Nema 17s are 1.7A*3 + 2.0A, with the 4988 driver @2.5. So my setting would have 3 @ 0.68 and 1 at 0.8 for a total of 2.84A.
Thank you so much!!!
hi friend thanks for the tutorial, i need to ask you, what if instead of using 3 motors i want to use 4 for a cnc hotwire foam cutter? would it be still 3 drivers? or will it be 4? can 2 motors work on one driver? thanks for all your help
Hello. My drv8825 drivers don't working with the cnc shield (at .76v), the A4988 drivers they are very fine. In my MPCNC al steppers configured to 8's. 32's and 16's don't move the machine fluid.
Bonjour, beau travail! Pouvez-vous modifier le programme pour que les 3 moteurs tournent ensemble mais à des vitesses différentes ? Hello, great job! Can you modify the program so that the 3 motors run together but at different speeds? Regards
Mam how much total voltage must be input in shield for 3 or 4 motor running in one shield?
I try to run 3 motors with 12volt and one motor not run properly. That motor is fine because I change with other and there it run properly.
Nice job, are you able to connect 2 steppers on one axis output?
My stepper model no - 17PM-K310-33VS ,
I am unable to find this stepper data sheet.
You can help me about this stepper data sheet?
Very nice
Wont motor drivers be fried if you power the motor drivers without attaching the motors ?
Nice, thanks for sharing
You too
I forgot the shield was plugged in and removed a driver causing a spark, the multimeter marks 0 on my drivers, will I have to replace shield and drivers?
Thanks for the video. While checking the current limit of the drivers, do we need to power up the board thru the 12v jack also?
No
what is the controller model used in the project
nice video
solo puedo conetar 4 motores ahí? si quisiera 5 necesito una fuente de 24 o con 12 la hago?
very funny . But you not connected ground jumper
My arduino cnc shield y axis not working I changed driver but not working how that fix problem send me please thank you sir
Which is better v3 or v4 I want to make cnc plotter....plz help
I watched another video on how to get this same thing to work and as soon as I plugged in the power the drivers had a puff of smoke come out of them. Then I found your video and that is when I noticed the other video had made me put the drivers on wrong. The drivers are prob dead now right?
if i change the third motor (z) by servo motor, What connections will change?
Can i control stepper motor which is 4.5V with this same set up?
If not then how can i run it with different?
Los motores nema que usas ahí cuales son
kind of a waste to put those drivers on that CNC shield.
1) That's a CLONE of protoneerz cnc shield, so quality isn't there.. super thin copper cladding for the tracks == lots of noise, and less current capacity
2) That particular board only supports GRBL 0.9
3) That shield is also prone to losing steps due to cross-talk / noise on the signal lines. (That was resolved in later designs)
4) There are NO back-drive protection diodes on that, so manually moving the steppers can back-feed electricity into the board causing damage to the driver IC's
Hola .puedes hacer un video como variar la velocidad del spindle con grbl
Yay another arduino video with fruity techno to mute
why not any body tell 775 dc spindle motor conection to shield detail ??
Hello there. Can I ask u a question if u have a little spare time to reply please?
Q. I have this CNC shie;ld and my Arduino but I have stepper drivers TB6600 and I'm lost on how to connest them to this Shield on top of my Arduino?? Do u have a video on that please? Love ur content btw. Always very informative but I think maybe a bit more time on each video would help newbies like me though.. Sorry I know these are probably for ppl with more exp than me but I need the help..LMAO
Thanks for help.
I want to ask u that is cnc v4 shield constructed wrong
if Y there are 2 driving motors, 1 motor is 1.5A each, can it or not, sis?
How do you reduce the speed.
Any thoughts about cooling?
Can we configurate it for 3D printer
which way do I plug in the stepper motors
Hi, is it V or mV? My Voltmeter shows me 1mV in Stock for Vref.
how do I make the motors go faster than whats on the sketch?
Increase the pulse rate
How much power supply you have used.. please reply..?
can the drivers be set without the arduino boards?
No,
For the CNC shield to function, it needs the Arduino pins 2,3,4,5,6, and 7 to send signals/voltages.
So the CNC shield has to be connected to the Arduino board and the Arduino board pins align to the CNC shield.
Thank you for posting this. How can I have A axis sync with x?
Hi, I do not see any of your education and training videos Where are you and you are very successful self özletiy greetings from turkey
good video.. :D
Thank u so much 😄
Can i use a Nema 17 Stepper Motor 59Ncm 2A 1.8deg
I can't get this setup to work. I set the same voltage and all. Could the "Programmer" under the Tools tab affect it at all?
Did you make it work?
Can they all turn at the same time?
can i make 3d printing machine using arduino uno and shield v3
Hola Tutor Maker muchas gracias por compartir, muy buenos tus videos, mi pregunta es de donde salen todos esos valores (3:02m), el del motor lo vi pero los otros, VREF y el 2? . Otra cosa se divide o se multiplica? Pregunto por el resultado 1.5/2=0.75. Gracias de nuevo, saludos desde Israel.
What is the A axis in this shield
What is the name of music in this video ?? Lady

Sizin yaptiginizin aynisini yapiyorum olmuyor eksik birseymi yapiyorsunuz
My stepper motor is heated up within a 2-3 revolution?
So give me suggestions that how can i overcome it
To much power/conected the wires in the wrong order.
Does this shield support 4 axis?
How to connect 4 motors
01:04 How can I enable the pin on the DRV8825?
Jumper the EN and GND header pin (top left of board)
Also, is the 12-36V coming into the device AC or DC?
DC ONLY
wheres the sketch you say, cant see it
What battery/ power supply are you using?
