The Boers set an example using laagers, and this was in 1838... In 1879 the British at Isandlwana could have won if the ignorant commanders had not underestimated their enemy. Great video once again, keep it up.
Man, that's something. Gotta admire the Zulus for their bravery. They continue with their attacks while suffering losses. It's a cavalry charge without horses. This war is overshadowed by the other major conflicts. Doesn't get talked about. The Boers made use of the laagers more effectively. Unlike the British at Isandlwana.
This is not how Piet Reteif and his men were killed. They were sitting, unarmed, inside the Zulu settlement, when they were set upon at Dingaan's orders.
You’re not alone there, bored stupid but these History Cinemas are very good. Unfortunately RUclips is just presenting material already viewed & not highlighting those videos as already seen, so not getting much new material. 😢😢
They "Boers" did not wear uniforms neither had the Martini Henry or a similar rifle. The men would fire and the son/wife or other would reload - as example two or three rifles per man rotating between the marksman and reload. Bear in mind they were excellent marksmen and if the enemy charged in a "bundle" mostly every shot would hit. The British made the same mistake when they invaded the Republics - thinking that marching up in blocks would be intimidating....it did not work well.
This seems like almost the exact same sequence of events as the Battle of Blood River (except for the numbers on each side and the cavalry mop-up at the end).
