First Semi is already bloodbath, but I mean come on.. If second places would have won it'd literally be a *BloodOcean*
I actually think this year for the most part the actual contestants were better than 2nd places. Past 2 years that was not the case at all. BUT a lot of good songs finished lower than 2nd. For example Jüri Pootsmann............
@@EpixEurovisionGuy I voted for Jüri, it's a bummer he finished only 3rd, but I'm happy for Uku though. The performance needs some mini-improvements, but I'm sure our Team Eesti and Uku can pull off something great. ❤️🇪🇪

In Bulgaria actually My Imaginary Friend came second, she said in her show GUIG and Imaginary Friend were the two they were rooting for

- I think you forgot Russia. The 2nd place was Bitter Words, that song with the random Spanish lyrics
- According to Hooverphonic, there were actually 2 songs to choose from
- Slovenia, Romania, Azerbaijan, Greece, Poland, and the UK have also some other entries that we didn't even have a chance to hear.
- Imaginary Friend was 2nd. It, GUIGO and Funeral Song are actually top 3 according to Victoria. GUIGO and Imaginary Friend tied and Victoria broke it in favor GUIGO.
- Tout L'univers and its English version Ground Zero actually competed internally to represent Switzerland.
- James Newman is gonna release the 2nd best song from the British internal selection as a separate single.

- Vincent Bueno from Austria just released Demos for 2nd placed songs "Parachute" and "Dumb Human Bias"

This years Eurovision must be one of the strongest in years. Some of the 2nd places are better than the winner, and some are not. The standard had been the same, but it would have been great to have Eric Saade and KEiiNO instead, even I like their winners too. Good luck to everyone. I am glad, Denmark is in semifinal 2. :)
id say that imaginary friend got 2nd, it was the top 2 with Growing up is getting old
I actually looked for the results, but just found that Growing Up... was selected from a bunch of songs. Guess I missed something then :D

Just goes to show how much quality is always lost from the NFs regardless of who wins. I wonder what it’s like to be a casual viewer, who sees only the Eurovision songs for the first time on the night? Must be incredible.

I don’t even know what makes me happier- the fact that Eric didn’t win Melodifestivalen or Ukraine’s revamp

Sweden: runner-up was better
Norway: runner-up was better
Croatia: winner is better
Israel: runner-up was better
Estonia: winner is better
Albania: winner is better
Portugal: runner-up was better
Bulgaria: runner-up was better (as it was Imaginary Friend)
Finland: runner-up was better
Denmark: runner-up was better
France: runner-up was better
Italy: winner is better
Spain: runner-up was better

For me, I didn't see Denmark has a strong entries. DR rejected Ben & Tan. I rooted for Silver Bullets but the live was awful

Tbf, for me a crap load of songs in MGP deserved to be in Eurovision. Felt like MGP finals is more of a bloodbath than SF2 in actual Eurovision. Like besides Tix and Keiino, a few songs that I can think of that was reeeeeally good for me included songs like Hero, Pages, Psycho, Faith Bloody Faith, Witch Woods, etc. For me at least MGP was the strongest this year since I felt like even the songs that didn't make the final deserves to be in Eurovision
Yeah, I completely agree. Although Sweden had like 4-5 songs that could have easily gone to esc as well. And Finland had a good selection too.
@@EpixEurovisionGuy I completely agree with Sweden this year as I felt like any top 5 songs is a banger there. Heck I would have voted on In The Middle JUST because I am most familiar with the Mamas I am so indecisive about who to pick. That said, for me, Finland on the other hand, it was Dark Side and Dark Side only for me. It was genuinely the type of rock I like a lot, ironically more than Italy.
@@SylvieTheCuteSylveon oh for sure dark side was the clear winner and my favourite this year overall, but the quality in UMK was still very high. I really loved Aksel, Oskr and Ilta for example. Even the dancing UFO-s were fun 😀

Imaginary friend came 2nd in Bulgaria, it was said in the live stream.
The only improvement is Norway.

Yes, I was told that later that they did say it when presenting the winner, but I didnt watch the show, so just picked one of the songs that was on the sepection

This year is looking strong, on par with 2009. Saade would have made semi final 1 a really tight final. Semi final 2 wise, there really wouldn't have been any improvements. Semi Final 2 I think is stronger than semi final 1.
I'd say the biggest difference is Keiino vs Tix. No competition there really. Keiino would have been fighting for a win. Tix is fighting to qualify to the final :DD
@@EpixEurovisionGuy I think their 2019 song was stronger. But I have only picked the winner correctly once.
Actually I think both semifinals are strong, but I think semifinal 1 is a bit stronger. Denmark should have a chance to qualify from semi 2.
