honestly, I think the reason this is so heartwarming is because the Queen could’ve addressed her as “Mother”. Calling your mom “mommy/mummy” is naturally more endearing especially when you’re a grown adult.
Its a class thing in the UK... upper class people say mummy/daddy when they're adults. It's not really heartwarming or deep, just an indication of background.

This clip is oddly fascinating. Firstly hearing a genuinely private moment between the Queen and any of her family is so rare. Secondly its pretty amusing to hear the Queen call her mum 'mummy' and also that the thing that really makes the Queen mad is any suggestion that she has become emotional over something as silly as losing a horse race "NO ITS THE WIND MUMMY!". But most fascinating of all is to hear the Queen Mother speak, as she was so often 'seen but not heard' particularly in later life. It's always a little startling to remember that she had a considerably deeper voice than her daughter and (whilst still being very posh) she wasn't quite as perfectly well spoken, a reminder of the fact the Queen Mother wasn't born royal perhaps.

@@lindaireland2751 fortunately they don’t forget that, which is why their charitable work and patronages are so effective...they always make the focus be on the people that they are there to support, not themselves.
