At my parent's house in central Florida they had male and female Painted Buntings (what a gift to see them) but I never saw an Indigo. I hope to later this year when it gets cooler or next. 🐦 Gorgeous birds.
The first time I ever saw an Indigo bunting was in Tennessee... I was helping my step dad around the yard and suddenly there he was....spectacular! It literally took my breath away... he didn't stay long and we were both motionless for about 3 minutes...wonderful
@@BirdsandGhibliFan A friend of my daughter painted it with water colors. She is unbelievably talented. Thanks, I will pass it on to her. I'm trying to convince her to find a way to sell her bird paintings.
Love these beautiful birds, where we have rare sightings here in Minnesota. Last spring we had a visit to our jelly feeder for three days in a row from a scarlet tanager and that was a real thrill! Thanks so much!
Cute little bird with the feathers blowing on a windy day. Nice to see that some birds know how to share the bounty instead of running the others off! 🙂
Perhaps Diane Kelley has grown tired of hummingbirds’ aggressiveness? My Mississippi grandmother called them “the fightenist little things I eva seen!”
This video is absolutely beautiful. I loved every single bird in it. I really love catbirds. I'm in Michigan and I've never seen an indigo bunting where I live, until yesterday. It came to my feeder 2 different times. I was over the moon.
Love this video. I had one Indigo Bunting stop by a few Springs ago, and it was awesome. He would hang out and feed along with the Male and Female Cardinal. Wish he’d stop by again. Nothing like that color!
Such a handsome blue fellow at your place...we'll done Sir 😁 thank you so much for sharing with us. I live in ga. & have only seen a rare visit 3 or 4 times in 20 years. My neighbors have cats that's possibly an issue but it was great to see him enjoying your place.
Yep, they're lookers. Arrive hear in eastern NC in late April, same time as the orchard orioles. Summer tananger arrived a few days ago. All a wonder sight and sound show.
Oh, I saw my first indigo bunting in the mountains of South Carolina, had never seen one and was amazed, and then delighted to find one in my neighborhood a week later I don’t know if you’re followed me wink wink
I once saw one of this that was hit by car right at the middle of an intersection, I really wanted to stop to helped out but it was too risky. These are gorgeous birds
I loved seeing the mixed flock of Indigo and Painted Buntings. I never knew they co-mingled. I also loved seeing the Catbird and Blue Jay cameos, and your commentary on their antics. I have been seeing Catbirds lately, so hopefully, I’ll also see an Indigo Bunting soon, or in the fall when they and the Catbirds migrate. Thanks for sharing!
Buntings!? I don't know much about Bird species, so i would have guessed that they were some kind of finch if I had Saw them in the wild. Well, today i learned that there is a type of bird called Buntings, cool.
The Indigo Bunting is my favorite bird. It's rare to see one in Minnesota, so when you get a glimpse, you feel really lucky. Sadly, we have a confirmed outbreak of bird flu in Minnesota this spring, so the DNR is recommending not to feed the birds.
Thankyou kindly for your hospitality and videos. .Fukishima radiation leak has killed 1/3 of the birds population in the world. They were radiated during spring migration of the Fukishima disaster.
Are Indigo Bunting birds of North America only?. The root word of Indigo is the Greek 'Indikon' which comes from a dye derived from Indigo tropical plant found in the tropical forests of South Asia. Thanks for the video enjoyed the camaraderie between the birds Indigo Bunting, painted Bunting, Cat bird & the ever present Chipmunk 😊😊😊 eager to have the choosy bits.
Do you know why the immature males of this species migrate north? Every year in April and may there’s an immature indigo bunting that stops by my yard for a day or two.
My wife's favorite bird. Thanks for sharing
I was blessed with 5 Indigos and 7 painted Buntings this year. I also had 13 gold finch. I was in birding heaven as they visited my yard in Central FL

The Indigo is a late arrival here on the shores of Lake Superior but when they get here white millet is always provided for them.

Found a painted in the road dead one morning on the way to work. I never knew about them so I assumed someone colored it with some type of dye.

I have 3 everyday comes to eat
I just picked up the bunting call on my merlin bird app.. It’s May 7th. Is that odd or unlikely?
PS I live in the very North Florida.
This is the time of year they sing as they breed and nest, they don't down in southern half of Florida where I am, but they should up that way. BB
