I remember as a kid going in those factories after they had closed and before demolition, I was about 11 or 12. We went on an an old folk lift truck and one of use tried to set off but it was in reverse and it went backwards into some protective mesh sheeting around an RSJ upright. We spent many weeks/months in those factories as kids and the experiences of that child like empowerment of those times will never leave me. The ghosts of what once was industrial times will always be in my mind from those days and will never leave me, it instilled a curiousity that saw me frequent (illegally) no end of the dieing industy of what was once Sheffield. If we had affordable cameras back in my time like we do now, I could have shown you things that would make me a decent youtube revinue today. The things I have seen in Sheffield growing up as a care free, lawless adolesent, would be gold today.
BTW ,thanks for posting, remember taking the train to Hull mid 1984 ,on the return journey the train was diverted on a freight only line right through the heart of numerous derelict steel works in Sheffield,mind blowing!The scale of the enormous buildings left to rot was just unbelievable.Intentional deindustrialization ?

We are looking at a dying area. What was a thriving, industrial, manufacturing center providing wealth and jobs has gone forever.

No Cyclops was further down the road, it would've covered Meadowhall 5 times (2.6 times if you include all parking and access). Cyclops was MASSIVE.
