- I thought it would be cool to do a few ant colonies at a time, and show the result even if they didn't turn out that great to highlight how difficult casting can ant colonies be. But I actually got really good results. At least three of them are some of the best I've ever done and one is the largest I've done so far.
The place where I am standing at the beginning of the video is the exact location of the cast in my first video • Five Fire Ant Colony C...
The second one didn't turn out that great. I used the remaining molten aluminum from the first cast because I didn't think it was going to take very much due to its small and washed out appearance. I was wrong and the result is very thin and fragile tunnel casts with a small solid portion deep in the ground.

So, I've never really seen a fire ant mound before, I've see. Regular large ant mounts though. But today i was walking to my house and my foot sank down a little bit and i looked and my foot was covered in fire ants. Those things are really mean

Holden Strickland 😫 I've been stung by hundreds of them when I was 4 years old and I was really sick from it and the damn things literally feel like you're being burned! Even though they have been washed off, it burns for a long time! Some of them wouldn't even come off of me and the doctor had to remove them with tweezers! They hold on even though the body is gone!! Watching a large number of those little bastards get incinerated made my (at the time) still tender ant bite marks feel much better. Sweet revenge by proxy.

Yeah, it's possible and I have done it but usually they turn out good enough to do something with and not worth the time and energy to melt down.

@Gaming Fan Rio Ants are actually important for many plants and animals, they disperse seeds, sometimes take care of myrmecophilous insects like the alcon blue butterfly, so without them, the ecosystem will collapse lol and many insects will go extinct, but in this case, its a fire ant, counted as an Invasive Alien Species so eliminating them actually helps native ants thrive more

first off, some ants are diurnal, and some are nocturnal.
also, you can't make a good cast pouring on straight dirt, that's why he packs the top with sand, you'll notice this if you look.
Also, even diurnal and have lesser but still some activity during the night time hours.

Go into a neighborhood and I guarantee you won't find a single plot without a colony, worse yet go out into rural areas outside major cities and you'll just find whole pastures infested with dozens, sometimes hundreds of colonies.

I live in a town that gets infested with ants every summer. The majority of people who live in this town have to stock up on ant spray because it gets so bad. Its not even a matter of a clean or dirty house, everyone has the same problem. So these videos are so satisfying to see because I hate the little shits

The first one is very pretty. It really is beautiful to see how ants work underground and what they do when we aren't looking...
