I wish websites like Gibson, ESP, Ibanez etc would start listing below their guitars the proper Maintenace for each guitar you buy or research, such as oils, polish etc. That would fix all the questions.

I'm not so big on the razor idea. I've got a 2012 DRS1 and love everything except the frets themselves. Martin cheaped out on the fretwire and the wore out way too fast. I'll be replacing the frets with stainless. The 2012 DRS1 has the laminated Stratobond neck and I actually like it. The 2012 also has no external battery access so I can only change the battery when I change strings. As for cleaning the Richlite, I use a green scrubby and that seems to do the trick. I also use Murphy's Oil Soap on the entire guitar. I've been using Ernie Ball Aluminum/Bronze 10's and it sounds great. I've tried several DRS1's in the store and haven't found one that plays or sounds as nice as the one I have. I think it's hit or miss with most guitars. Kinda like a car, you want one built on a Wednesday. Overall, the DRS1 played through my Fender Mustang III on the active clean preset sounds amazing. As for Martin's customer service, not so great. I think they start talking to you if you buy a D-28, they're snobby like that.

your drs1 will sound better on a proper acoutic amp or the boss katana with the preamp set to acoustic you should never ever use and acostic electic guitar on a regual guitar amp for 2 main reasons 1 the sound is very poor , 2 eventualy youll harm the amp , i use 12-53 elixer nanoweb strings on my DRS1 and wow what a difference and awesome sound. guitar are not a hit or miss they all sound different and play different , havent had any fret problems with my drs1 as of yet they seem good on mine could be because mine is a newer one but iam not worrred my guitar is covered even for regual ware and tear so long as i renew my warranty every year for it with long an mcquade ill never pay for fret work or any work on it ever same for most of my other guitars that i have bought from them .. they sell and external warranty that covers way more then the factorys do..

are frets not supposed to have any grooves in them? Cause my frets on the top with the high e and b strings do.

thats the biggest load of HS that yes everone that knows better which is mor eof us then you guys and thats inlcued manfactirs that tell the truth the fretboard makes not difference freat material makes no difference the list goes on ,,, Martin Guitars them self said whats importe other then dimentions of the body and scale length is the strings you use is a drastic chage in sound and the top material of course is a big part the rest of the guitar means nothing or so little its not even measurable and given no 2 giutars are alike does make this rather simple but hard to convice a tone wood lover that has been programed and drank the koolaid, its ok there is hope out there the more and more we all prove that tone wood is BS and we show what does matter the more people will wakeup how ever we will never reach everone unless all the companies get on board with martin and start telling the truth for a change and that iam sure will never happen because if it did no one would by there expensive gear anymore because we would all realize we dont need it, . dont take any offence dude i just tell it how it is.

Woods are to sensitive, wood floors , furniture, guitars. I prefer hybrid materials.
