Lightsaber whips have been used by Lumiya, who appeared before Disney took over Star Wars.
How do they work from my understanding? They hit the enemy blade and then whip around to slice the enemy in half anyways. Super dangerous tho.
There seem to be variants that are comparable to a training lightsaber, and can only burn but not cut, although they are capable of blocking a lightsaber blade.
Why does Disney take only the stupid elements from the expanded universe?
I have never heard of one.
