I like how giga chad has become such a positive meme. Like a Chad is doing what they want someone who's confident or doesn't care what people think. Which since people care way to much what others think it seems pretty good to me. Probably why Zyzz has come back into gym meme culture lately too given his attitude. Obviously the ridiculous psychial aspect is part of this too but even among my Gen-z gym bros it is seen as something to shoot for despite not taking gear. Giga chad is in same realm as dudes wanting to be Goku and Guts from Berzerk. Something about these characters getting through struggles and becoming yoked resonates with young guys a lot. I know it does for me.
I don't think it's about doing what he wants as it is more doing what's right for him. The whole idea of Giga Chad is extreme self improvement and simply not caring about societal standards on this topic.
@@CalisthenicVagabond It's very much playing into the beauty standards society has come to expect though. I do think that the whole idea of being oneself in a healthy way and gaining better quality of life as a result is something people absolutely should strive for, but there's a significant amount of drive to meet some degree of social expectation in this specific regard.
I mean you absolutely can attain something close to that, you just won't be that lean at that size. If you do a combination of compound lifting and gymnastics (very doable) you will most definitely put on pretty significant mass and be capable of moving like that (if your aim is also to be strong in the way the model is during that shoot). It won't even take that long (this is relative to perspective obviously, I'm 29, not long for me is from like 22/3 to now) compared to some life goals, and once you reach it you can just maintain there. It takes a good amount of knowledge to be able to be relatively big and muscular but also mobile and able to flex in certain ranges (like the forearm stand front splits you see in one of the GC images) but it's definitely worth it to be bigger and more ripped than most people while being able to pull off some crazy movements (being able to handstand, pop into the splits, and so on is super physically liberating, it feels amazing). But you younger guys have it so much better than we did back in the day. The information is out there, Reddit and other forum's have dedicated sticky threads with so much credible information that is so accessible, you have guys like Zac and MPMD being open about realistic expectations for growth (plus plenty of training information from channel's like FitnessFAQs, Calimove, acrobatics stuff from guys like Yuri Marmestein, solid weightlifting advice even from traditionally quieter guys like Clarence Kennedy, legitimate nutritional advice from various channel's, and so on) and the BS channel's many of us followed before we became educated have been rightfully called out by many members of the community. Life is hard (anyone who tells you otherwise is bullshitting), everyone has struggles, and honestly the world is pretty fucked right now, but thankfully getting shredded is easier than ever!
@@CalisthenicVagabond I'd say the general gigachad memes play heavily into societies standards. They seem to favour a 'traditional' way of living fantasy (trad-wife, traditional masculinity, drawing hard lines between gender roles, favouring religion) with a general misunderstanding of stoicism as a core philosophy. Personally it seems gigachad is the stand-in male role model character for a lot of dudes. The current world is more alienating to young people than it ever has been and young men want someone to tell them what to do, who they are, what it all means in a nice simple package from the imaginary gigchad like a new messiah.

Zack, I think the first video I watched from you was in 2018/2019. It was about the overhead press. That said, what I really like about your channel is the fact that it isn’t just fitness; I admire that you’ll put up a video like this, which is tangential to fitness. Seems like you’re just doing what you want to do, and in the Internet’s culture of hyper-fixation on content-creator-cohesiveness, I think that’s refreshing.
Cool seeing all these people I like in one video! Lately my newer gym metal music has been BMTH, I Prevail, and Sleeping with Sirens. Older metal has been Attack Attack, Abandon All Ships, and Woe is Me. I'm closing out the year testing my year-end goals and hit a new PR to this music today. Keep up the great work!
He's just another idol for young men to aspired to be the best version of themself. Back then it was characters like Conan and Rambo, etc... played by masculine actors like Arnold, Stallone, Bruce willis,... and Before them was Clint Eastwood, Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris,...
Pre dating "memes" we can reflect on how the band Winger was destroyed by the kid on Beavis and Butthead wearing a Winger shirt. Besides examples like that, the spirit of memes is generally positive. The more harmless and stupid, the better. Although political memes can sometimes do some damage, they don't have the virality with the youth.
I see you are a man of culture. Winger was a good band tho, behind this "pretty boys" image there were lots of skills and musicianship. They could pursue careers as jazz musicians, hired guns and composers like Kip Winger has been doing for a while but they chose to be progressive-glam metal. And that's giga Chad attitude in my opinion.
@@michalcienki The musicianship may have been good, but I never was a fan of Winger. Even as a child, I thought it was weird that a band (full of dudes in their late 20's/early 30's) whose most widely known song's chorus went, "She's only 17. They say she's too young, but she's old enough. Old enough (for me)."
Your comment about music has made me think of another phenomenon. All the way until the early 2000's, the way people listened to music was through records. So people knew albums and eps. With the rise of MP3 players this shifted towards playlists, so people started to know only the names of the most popular songs by a given artist. With spotify we now have automated content recommendations, so people don't even know the names of these songs anymore and most bands and musicians are reduced to their 10 most often listened to songs. Now I'm not saying this is a bad thing. It just seems to me that most peoples music tastes have become broader while losing depth. The tiktok meme exposure to songs creates an even stronger hyperfocus on a few particular songs "that make it". One of the most dreaded things for musicians is being a one-hit wonder. The effect it has is that people look bored through most of your concerts until you play that one song that made it. With this new hyperfocus on meme songs many more musicians will become gen-Z one-hit-wonders. I don't know if this is good or not, time will tell.
Had I not read this I would have shared a similar text, although yours is probably better written than mine could have been. I shall add that certain artists, especially upcoming ones probably pushed by record companies, try and make a catchy chorus that can go TikTok viral but doesn't even represent the rest of the song, let alone the rest of their discography.
not knocking BMTH, i personally do not like the song, but its fun to see that music and different content and the work of different people can come together and create something bigger and fun like this
i think it's crazy how Ghost became famous with Gen Z after Mary On a Cross went viral; also when a metal band covered Ghost's song Year Zero and the intro of the cover was used in ig reels and tiktok.

A video of mine on tik tok has nearly 20 million views, and a little over 3 million likes. All because the vid had a bit of deadlifting, and some funny commentary from an observer. It seemed one of the bigger reasons was that the gym owner sounded like letterkenny, and two people in the background were gossiping in a way that could be quoted in a meme-like manner. Meme's on tik tok have power lol

Great video about Giga Chad and the effect meme culture can have on music and artists…but I don’t see how it fits the title effecting gym culture. It feels like a piece of this video is missing
The fact that the Gigachad meme started as an incel meme, but morphed into an avatar for positive masculinity shows how unpredictable 'ownership' of a meme can become.

On the gen z TikTok concert goers, there's apparently a trend of these kids going to concerts, staying till "the clout song" recording themselves there and then leaving.
I just saw "Utah Stones of Strength" on vimeo. I had no idea there was natural stone lifting in the States at that level! and some stupid strong people to boot. I'm sure anyone who watches these videos would also love that. They've got a really cool outlook on lifting that reminds me of the basque country stone lifters

Soooooo fucking insane that bmth is now associated with the gigachad culture. Or, that the gigachad community has associated with bmth. I love how the GigaChad meme went from incels being incels (being awful to other men, being super gate-keepy, insulting women enmasse) to just being an ideal version of a positive man. I don't know where that switch came from or when, but where I used to cringe at the heavily incel-bait chad/virgin memes, now they're almost always wholesome.
It's the feminazis and cucks always trying to subvert positive memes about men. Like the whole Sigma-male thing - how does anyone confuse the grindset with incels, when it would always be voluntary celibate. It's because the left can't meme, they only assume veiled attacks by the incels/alt-right/neonazis.
The change happened because men stopped caring about women. They wanted to be the best version of themselves for themselves with slight hopes that women may come. Infact I think “millennialthinker” video real Chads might have helped spark the change. I was deep into incel culture abd got tired of hearing the same weak advice, then boom randomly start seeing advice saying be great for yourself.

People who look down on this phenomenon have no idea..
I don't know about you guys, but gigachad unironically motivated me to get to the gym
lmaoo same
the gym community can be very toxic at times but also so amazing and inspiring
“This little band” 💀
Bro what's with the random cuts in audio in the video is that only just me, am I going insane?
As some one who is in a metalcore band similar to BMTH & works in the fitness industry i and EXTREMELY jealous of you working out with one of the best bands ever 😅
Grandpa explaining memes, love to see it
A video of mine on tik tok has nearly 20 million views, and a little over 3 million likes.
Why are there a bunch of moments where the audio cuts out for 5+ seconds?
The fact his friend said, “this little band? *TRIGGERED*
You’re getting super good at this RUclips thing man, keep it up. I appreciate the videos, thanks for the hard work!
1:40 "Cause when you try hard, that's when you die hard"
Fun fact, gigachad originated from undead chronic. The ultimate Chad that rose above all chads: the chosen Chad.
Did it really?
Imma need some proof bruv
Yeah watching that tattooed singer in your other video was pretty cool so let's see what these guys got left in the tank now
Man the title and the video, honestly don't know what I just watched bro
I was just relistening BMTH old stuff which I loved as a teen. And now I get this video! Awesome
i remember when I was a kid and would see old videos of oliver sykes all scene kid up and screaming his life out in little skin tight jeans. Never wouldve thought id see him repping out on the onclince press.
People are being drawn to a clean disciplined lifestyle. It’s a good thing
The Chad meme originally started pretty negatively but has become more of a motivation thing now
I only know their song from the meme, had no clue it's name or the artist until this video.
one time a couple months ago my friend and I played this on a speaker in a random apartment gym and just did pull-ups until the cows came home shirtless
Why is the audio cut out 😭
What's good with the audio cut outs?
Great video about Giga Chad and the effect meme culture can have on music and artists…but I don’t see how it fits the title effecting gym culture. It feels like a piece of this video is missing
The fact that the Gigachad meme started as an incel meme, but morphed into an avatar for positive masculinity shows how unpredictable 'ownership' of a meme can become.
Sorta like how the alt right stole pepe only for twitch streamers to steal it again and make it a normie meme
Brother outta all the videos I pressed not a bloody chance did I think it would have bring me the horizon been playing their music ever since I could remember 🤙🏼
This topic gives me strong Finn McKenty vibes and I love it! 😂
Damn dude I honestly wished that this was longer. Incredible topic and honestly something I’ve been more and more cognizant of these days
Zack looks like the Mandalorian actor.
I feel like a dad. Idk what any of what he’s talking about even tho he’s explaining it😂😂
I bloody love Bring Me The Horizon. Big fan of Chris Williamson too, therefore cool crossover 😎😎😎
I love how oliver sykes is in the thumbnail my favorite chad haha
we all gonna make it bras
On the gen z TikTok concert goers, there's apparently a trend of these kids going to concerts, staying till "the clout song" recording themselves there and then leaving.
Some people really want to frame the Giga chad memes as negative. As if there's something wrong if an incel wants to overcome his failures and thrive
"This is what the edge of your seat was made for" best album
I use it to work out, i must aspire to become gigachad, even though i will never reach it. its the step towards the path that is worth its weight in gold.
That’s so sick. Got to train with THE Oliver Sykes! 🤘🏻
Dude, you need to reupload the video as the audio is corrupted.
Ollie seems like such a sweet guy.
Gigachad doesn't film himself at the gym
Bro I love bring me the horizon
we're def not singing along to drake.
The indomitable human spirit and Gigachad gave me life
Bring me the horizon is such a classic, I used to listen to them so much back in early 2000's
This is a way of lifting each other up as men that is all. We have formed our own form of secret society that cherishes the chad life.
I'm in my late 50s and watching this video has struck home to me that I am now an "old" person!
Soooooo fucking insane that bmth is now associated with the gigachad culture. Or, that the gigachad community has associated with bmth. I remember seeing them in warped tour in 2010 and the whole screamo/deathcore/metal scene. There was definitely the Chads associated with Chad rock though. Bands like Avenged Sevenfold (my favorite band of all fucking time😍), Pantera, etc.. basically bands with guys that are hot and like to workout lol. No shade, I'm a personal trainer. It's just so interesting how things evolve over time 🤩
I'm pretty jealous of Oli though. That guy could walk out of a car crash and look good. My ex would go all gooey-eyed (and probably not just her eyes) when he popped up on socials and I realised that's just how it is 🤣
@@IainFrame that's definitely how it is. Looooord....Oli is sooo fine. and he's aging like fine wine at that hahaaa.
It sounds like your ex loves Oli the way I love M. Shadows 🤣😍😍
@@melissareed3101 Ha ha yes indeed 🤣
"This little band"
Bro
I love bring me the horizon
I am fucking convinced that nightclubs are just gyms that haven't played Let Me Down Slowly yet.
Gifs Chad is my favorite meme and bring me the horizon one of my favorite bands.
Why does the sound keep going out on this vid
Most likely because he used the giga chad music and ran into some copyright problems
This dope af I used to be huge on BMTH in high school!
ugh the youtube censoring of the song is cutting into zack talking.
Here for the weightlifting, but happy for the education on the youngs, lolz.
Lmao everyone has a successful podcast bro literally everyone and their mother I can tell by hearing your voice in the first seconds of this video that you feel superior then regular people. That’s cool bro I’ll take my life over your one that’s designed to cater ANY DAY.
Its just a retelling of a fantasy every boy has. To be the strongest man in the world. To be superman
BMTH makes great music for working out.
Does the audio cut for anyone through out the video?
3 or 4 times for me. Thought it was 'cause of my Bluetooth.
Probably copyrighted music or something getting censored out of the video
yes, i was looking for this comment
Lol @ the midi for Can You Feel My Heart in the outro.
The Tramp Stamps were a thing
I make the giga chad meme responsible for my turn to Christ and his church.
The internet is a weird place

You should have brought up Zack Efrons new face….definitely inspired by GigaChad 💯
I see Oli in the thumbnail and I'm thinking "lol wut"
But as you started talking, this just got interesting!
