I just bought a black Ethos that I use for radio broadcasting from my home studio. It is a beautiful-sounding microphone. Noise rejection is impressive...it does just as good of a job as my RE20, which was shocking. I find it smoother, and it is now my go-to for my daily radio show!
@@levelupwithmikenewman It sure is. And, it handles EQ and compression like a champ. I actually use the 2nd air mode on my Scarlett 2i2 4th gen, then just add a bit more EQ in post and that is it....ready for both the FM and AM stations that I'm on.
So much love for the Ethos. Just got mine, and I share your enthusiasm, Mike! I appreciate your sharing the EQ curve. There’s also a slight dip at around 5k, presumably to drop sibilance! I never have to drop sibilance in post on this mic, which is surprising considering how much detail it has. Love the snippet from the Microphone Assassin! Totally agree with removing the foam filter for VO use, and keeping it on for broadcast use. Two different flavors, one mic!
Also love how you go against the grain. The Ethos is already a unique mic, but the matte black one makes you one in a million. P.S. That worship leader “Gratitude” sample is my favorite demo for the Ethos. Does he have a page or social we can follow?
I wanted this mic for a long time ... almost pulled the trigger on it. Then I heard the LS-208. Then I found out the price of the LS-208....DANG!!!!! The ethos is definitely a top tier mic at a "reasonable" price especially since they basically dropped the price in half. Just think, there are lot of people out there that paid the price before the reduction. Someday I will own both. LOL... if no other reason... just because. Gotta love a really great mic. Now the hardest decision is which one to get first... I am looking hard at that Ethos... LOL Thanks for great review.
Just found a used Ethos...cannot wait until it arrives. I'm currently on an RE20 for my morning radio show, just want to see if I can get a bit more smoothness, hence the Ethos.
I tried the SM7b custom setting on my DUO with my ETHOS, but ended up liking and tweaking the podcast studio sound from the Rode Podmic preset with the Ethos.
@@levelupwithmikenewman are you using the general condenser preset ? Also what mic volume level are you using in windows? or are you recording directly to an SD card?

I’m ready to start looking for a way to sell my kidney to get that LS-208! 😂
@@levelupwithmikenewmanI’m waiting for the Microphone Assassin’s comparison video between the LS-208 and Ethos! Both such incredible mics!
@@DaveSoltura I would love to see that comparison! Seems people have one or the other, but can’t afford both without asking for a divorce! 😂🤣
Thanks Mike! The Ethos sounds great on you, man!

So nice!!! I have both, locking down the best dynamic and best condensor mics out there for broadcast/podcast. IMO…😎👍🏻

@@PigTownSports the Podcast Studio definitely clears up that muddy tone, I’ve been leaning on that tone myself for a few mics lately!

@@NickleNinja2I used the generic condenser preset. I recorded this directly into OBS on my M1 Mac Mini

Have you compared this to a lewitt 440 ?
Not yet. Right now working on a comparison with the SE4100 though
