How to get your own RED BULL Helmet in 14 Steps

- A small project with one of my old fullface-helmets.

Stuff you'll need to do this:
1. Helmet
2. Sanding Paper
3. Brake cleaner (optional)
4. Masking tape
5. Sharp knife (Cutter)
6. Printed-Out Red Bull logos
7. Masking foil (very basic self-adhesive foil from the hardware store is okay)
8. Hairdryer
9. Glue (optional, to make the printed-out logos stick to the foil)
10. Matte spray paint (White, Yellow, Blue, Red, Transparent)
11. Red Bull Stickers (like www.etsy.com/d...)
12. PATIENCE!

I sent an email to Red Bull Europe and got a reply from their U.K. Office. They state that they do not authorise anyone to use their branding without their permission, as it would infringe their intellectual property rights. It would also mean that the public at large would believe that an association would exist between the helmet wearer and the company.
So basically, it isn't legal. Shame really as I love the idea of having my own 'athlete only' helmet.

Does anybody know how he made the white outlines around the bull and the "redbull" text?
Just make a big sticker, paint over it and make the same one like 2 cm smaller. In this case you'll get just a border, but u can make one for the outlines and one for the center, just like he did. Watch the video carefully and you'll see.

@@davidwilfong8028 It is a machine that cuts out shapes. Some people use it to cut out logos in a sticky pape then they used it for masking.

i think it might be illegal or just not recomended in finland atlest to paint your helmet cos u lose the surface tension and it will break more easily but if i wanted to paint it id probably do

At the end, it might be 100% right to wear it if you do competitions, but for the everyday ride there is no legal issues. Homemade and he is giving Redbull free advertisement.

Brauche ich wenn ich mir diesen Helm als Snowboardhelm (andere Helmform) nachmachen will eine besonnere Sprühdose wegen dem Schnee das diese dann auch drann bleibt oder reicht da die handelsübliche aus dem Baumarkt? PS: Super Video
Solange auf der Sprühfarbe "wetterfest" draufsteht sollte es klappen. Mach halt ein paar mehr Schichten Klarlack drüber, dann bist du auf der sicheren Seite :)

You can't buy one. Redbull doesn't sell their helmets they only give them to athletes that are sponsored by them. And they athletes are not allowed to sell them otherwise Redbull will drop them from sponsorship.

You should never under any circumstances spray, wipe or add any chemical other than soap/warm water to your helmet due to the possibility of degradation to the helmets design material (Carbon Fiber and such.) Just an FYI.

You're overthinking it. If someone makes one for their own use because they think it looks cool, there isn't anything wrong with that.
If someone is trying to be a poser and falsely claims to be a sponsored rider, then that's different.

asmodeus20 You are wrong, Trademark infringement I'm not sure all the details but a dude did this with dirtbike graphics and he was contacted by redbull lawyers saying take it off the bike. Unless its earned or bike might be sold with graphics as a certain package.

my question is, why would you brand your whole helmet when they won't be paying you for it? Most pros do it because they are sponsored and have to. it's an awsome job and this gave me ideas on customizing my own helmet but I don't know, I don't like wearing brands unless they sponsor me.

I actually got requests, but it would be way too expensive due to the long time it takes (about 6 hrs), and I think it would be illegal because of the branding.

+xSpagetti took me about 6 hrs, but i did the whole project in one week. Better wait a little longer to let the different coatings dry, so they dont come of with the stencils :)

Kyle is absolutely right, Its all trademarked and how they have it set up if you do something like this their lawyers will be contacting you.
And the great thing about painting your helmet is that if you get to accident, your Insurance will not pay because the helmets surface tension is ruined cuz of the paint :) the helmet also will not protect your head as well if you paint it :)

You know after you do all the masking and painting you could go over it with some automotive clear from a gun and it would turn out looking more like an automotive finish
