For those who think they can't start even after this video, let me just say that you won't start anything until you start it. Sure it might look terrible, sure it may not look like what you think but no one will make the starting line but you. Heres a funy story about my first manga: I started my first manga with literally nothing but a story and concept which sounds like a basic fantasy. The funny thing is that my main character's final design hadn't even been finalized until I drew chapter 1's cover art, his powers, his character, his backstory, literally nothing; but as I drew each chapter his backstory began forming in my mind and now the boringness of his design has worked in my favor.

I am working as a UX designer as a full time employee. I love reading manga and i love to copy anime characters. I get only 1 hour everyday to work on something which are not related to my full time job. Can you please tell me how much time should i spend on creating chapter one? As an Indian i know its not much possible to become mangaka and earn money but i want to draw manga not for money but for my own happiness. Please let me know the learning path should i take. Also, should i buy drawing tablet to draw using computer? If yes, which software should i use? ( I have windows)

Hello, I have a question regarding use of screentones, or best to say, not using those as i can't get hold of them in my country. Are there traditional (non-digital) ways to like do add value to the drawings (without hatching, as i need it smooth, like in clothing or background of the night sky/darkening the forest, etc...) So I know of Sumi-e (a.k.a. ink wash), but not sure whether it is allowed in professional manga. Or is it possible to shade with markers at all? So my question is, the ways of adding smooth value to drawings instead of screentones, and whether Sumi-e is acceptable in professional manga, Thanks!❤
I just found your channel today and thank you so much for this explanation💞. But I have a question. I know that ideally I should draw manga where I feel most comfortable and skilled, but as a beginner, I'm not entirely sure where that is yet. Should I focus on drawing digitally or stick to drawing on paper? I've seen that some artists start their drawings on paper first, but then I'm unsure of what they do next. Do they transfer their sketches onto a tablet by taking a picture and tracing them back digitally, or do they complete the entire process directly on the tablet? And I also have another question, what size should I draw with?
They tend to use a printer or camera to import them into the drawing program or if on iPad can just take photo and draw over it like directly it’s what I do but everyone does different things it’s more what do you want to do and how you want to do it
So 1 page Yonkoma is basically like those super short comics you'd see in western newspapers that only have like 3 or 4 panels for the entire story.... so basically your Garfields and Calvin and Hobbs of manga...
16 pages? I can't even really draw a single page, lol. Ok I'm being a bit too hard on myself, but I really don't think I could come up with a 16 page story even if I tried.
Im am an 13 yo/old me and my class friend started making an manga he was the writer i was suppose to be an manga artist the manga was like one piece we decided to do our own manga solo because he gave me just 2 pages meanwhile saying you should manage it atleast do 20-30 pages on it however i declined it because it was way too hard and now i am doing an manga solo which is better writen and more fun to read my manga is something else and new to manga series ig but no-one should like my manga but i will share your youtube channel to him
We’ll give you Yazawa-sensei’s advice on this. Just go for it! There will never be a “perfect” time and overthinking often time doesn’t help. Just create your manga, analyze what went right, what went wrong and then work on improving. Good luck!
i am 15 years old and I want to make my one shot for a competition in our country, and I made one before, but it was not at the level. So can you give me a chance to present my art to you? I hope you accept me despite my young age.I really need your help in guiding me.
Should i ask a comic artist/writer (so far i can't find manga artists or writers in my country) so i can know could i can share this type of story before writing or do it after writing
Have you tried joining some discord servers and asking for people's thoughts there? I don't know which country your from, but you could get some advice for your story online.
hi guys, im a manga writer and i have an manga thats kinda like baki hanma but also like unordinary but i need an manga drawer that could bring it to ife or even an animator to make it an anime but the only problem is that i dont have any money right now and thats why i cant hire but if u work with me u will get 50% of the earnings so we just split it and ofcourse u get credit lmk if ur interested.

@aphlearntodrawmanga honestly your first point about not expecting masterpieces. Simple but powerful advice.

All the sound effects, types/shapes/sizes of panels and how to know which ones to use and for which scenes, all speech bubbles and narration boxes, types of backgrounds, emotional FX (such as anger, stress, despair, fluster, dead-inside, surprised, etc), and facial expressions along with eyes (like Yandere got empty, dark eyes. A thirsty waifu got heart pupils. When the eyes shrink, it usually indicates mental instability or fear/panic/trauma or excitement and whatever. Etc)
I see people use fancy panels and even some where the characters jump out of them. I've seen randomly designed backgrounds. I've seen all kinds of speech bubbles and sometimes I get confused without the arrows. I've figured out that a black page background means a flash-back/memory scene. As an Indian i know its not much possible to become mangaka and earn money but i want to draw manga not for money but for my own happiness. Please let me know the learning path should i take. Also, should i buy drawing tablet to draw using computer? If yes, which software should i use? ( I have windows)
Are there any other mangas like Let's go Nakamura kun that are made with just scenarios.
You can try Yotsubato 😊
@@aphlearntodrawmanga thank you
My current project is 8 pages done, was planning to do 25 pages for this first project
Seeing this video, I feel like I actually made a ongoing manga, because over the years, everytime I get an inspo or idea for one of my ocs, I draw it into one page explaining 1 day in one go, though it might never finish bcuz I lost some of my ideas on test papers . .

But then i dont get a chance to do cool worldbuilding and stuff (one of my favourite parts of storytelling)
If I create a manga in English and I want to publish in japan. How could I do this?
The daily life one is actually something i can do
I was thinking of doing about my school life because it is probably more interesting than in my home
Do you guys have any advice on the paneling itself? Like, do i need to have 4 years of anatomy mastery? currently, im still very confused and overwhelmed on what things to learn and what to learn at the same time
We would recommend to have at least some basic drawing skills when you draw your manga. You don’t have to be the best but having your foundations down really helps.
We’re not sure what your level is so it’s hard to tell what your image is of ‘4 years of anatomy mastery’.
We have another video with the steps you need to create a manga so you might want to check this out:

hello sister, can I use A4 sizes paper? Because I have so many of them.
Yes, sure! This is just for practice, right?
@@aphlearntodrawmanga yes for practice but also for drawing manga
Hello, I have a question regarding use of screentones, or best to say, not using those as i can't get hold of them in my country.
Are there traditional (non-digital) ways to like do add value to the drawings (without hatching, as i need it smooth, like in clothing or background of the night sky/darkening the forest, etc...)
So I know of Sumi-e (a.k.a. ink wash), but not sure whether it is allowed in professional manga. Or is it possible to shade with markers at all?
So my question is, the ways of adding smooth value to drawings instead of screentones, and whether Sumi-e is acceptable in professional manga, Thanks!❤
Saviour from heaven my friend asked to make a manga his in grade 4 it can be as gory as a want to be🎉
I just found your channel today and thank you so much for this explanation💞.
They tend to use a printer or camera to import them into the drawing program or if on iPad can just take photo and draw over it like directly it’s what I do but everyone does different things it’s more what do you want to do and how you want to do it
My manga is not yet born it's gonna be called "oddsquad" and it shall be made weather anyone like it or not
I was more proud of myself for sketching the measurements than I was the actual drawing
need to draw my own comics with 6 stories each (it's due next week😢)
So 1 page Yonkoma is basically like those super short comics you'd see in western newspapers that only have like 3 or 4 panels for the entire story.... so basically your Garfields and Calvin and Hobbs of manga...
604likes? bro this vid is underated

Ok I'm being a bit too hard on myself, but I really don't think I could come up with a 16 page story even if I tried.
Yeah someone I know first tried to make one piece like story and now he quit 😂
I Know it's quite unrelated Rip the goat and legend of Manga Akira Toryiama we will all miss him 😢
Where is your collage in Japan ? Can I come to it evn though I'm black, xhosa, and christian.
may i ask, if you go in a manga coompetition can be the language is english or japanese?
Either one is usually accepted. You have to confirm the guidelines though. For the Silent Manga Audition, for example, you can’t use any dialogue.
ok thank you

i draw mangas too but i do not have good materials
how much preparation should i do before making it?
How much time have you already spent on your manga so far?
@@aphlearntodrawmanga 3 months
We’ll give you Yazawa-sensei’s advice on this. Just go for it!
There will never be a “perfect” time and overthinking often time doesn’t help.
Just create your manga, analyze what went right, what went wrong and then work on improving.
Good luck!
@@aphlearntodrawmanga Thank you very much!
i am 15 years old and I want to make my one shot for a competition in our country, and I made one before, but it was not at the level.

What do you mean by ‘conclusion’?
You can have an open-ended manga. It’s totally up to you.
