That 1st trumpet - amazing! Looks like he was playing trumpet before he learned to breathe! But not just him - what an amazingly talented group of musicians all around! Loved this performance!
THe only reason it looks so effortless is because he's so efficient as using his air, and he's likely worked his tailend off to get where he is. Gorgeous playing!
@@ryangreenberg1194 there is effort... I’ve known personally a few wünder-players, and if they tell you there’s “no pressure”/“effortlessness”, they’re lying, or joking with you. “The trumpet charges daily” for good abilities on it, Dizzy Gillespie said that in an interview. The truth of the matter is that there is basically no inefficiency or “strain” in his playing, his technique is so extremely developed, and his gear is meticulously balanced with exacting specifications to how and what he plays. He is patently NOT playing a “stock” Bach horn, nor are the exact mouthpiece specs he uses public info or available. Sure, you can buy his GR Signature mouthpiece, but is that likely the exact same dimensions as the pieces he uses... for some reason, I’m doubtful! ;) Think you can get the exact same Bach horn setup he’s using... Dream on! :) Amd even if you did, you’re not him, so while his setup might be useable, you’ll likely not be able to do with it what he can. A “high” C for Louis is not a “high” note at all... moreover, likely feels as easy to him as a “middle” C or G feels for other players. He truly is playing “effortlessly” till he’s playing at least an octave higher than most other players can. :D He’s NEVER playing at the thresholds of his chops, because he doesn’t overblow, likely never goes over 75-80% max volume on a gig, he’s usually on a mic, he rarely uses mutes. He doesn’t hurt himself to play any of his notes, he’s built himself up on rock solid fundamentals and had a great upbringing into the scene, I’m sure he’s played amazing jobs with great musicians, has had lessons and hangs with many the world’s top jazz and commercial players, and makes friends with musicians who are similarly obsessed with making great music. I’m a decently skilled professional player, and I feel I start to “work” around high Bb-high C. I top out at a finessed “high” (double) G, occasionally “reaching” with some strain for an Ab now and then. I have no more than a few of those in the tank each day, on an average day. I am pretty much hurting myself a little every time I play one. So I try to save them. I rarely gig with regularity, and I’m often not in top chop shape, but always try to play as if I am. Louis’ technique, gear setup, and efficiency likely allows him not only an octave (or more) above that, and with a better sound(!), but he could play well into the double range on every tune of any 1-4 hour gig. My congratulation to Louis, thank you for being so damn good at what you do, relieving the pressure on us “mere mortal” players of having to do these things! You’re sharing your virtuosity and kind spirit with many people, and inspiring my generation and those coming up to play the world’s most difficult and treacherous instrument.
YOOOO, I live on your channel, and yeah.... His face never moves from that *I don't give a fuck* look, except for this one, this one was SOOO high, like holy cow
Beautiful interpretation and performance. I recognized that little "MacArthur Park" quote in the middle of the piece (yes, I used to be a Maynard Ferguson fan!) Great job on the high notes too!
@@need_more_time1119 MF was a virtuoso, no doubt about it. He was born in Verdun, just a 15 minute drive from where I live here in Montreal. I saw him perform live here way back in the 80s. What a performance!
Wow, Louis. It has been such a pleasure to see you mature as a musician over the years, from the young kid playing (very well!) over Maynard/Waynard recordings to the tasteful, well-conceived things we see here. Beautiful music, and great video production concept! A true joy in every way!
That's awesome that you're learning to play trumpet! Just make sure your time on mutes is limited! Heres why: it's super easy to get your lips all beat up without realizing it since the mute is so quiet. I wouldn't play a practice mute for more than five minutes at a time to be on the safe side. You'll have to find a place to practice or just embrace practicing with neighbors next door, I've heard stories of people's articulation on trumpet getting messed up because they rarely practiced without a mute!
Wow, such beauty i have never seen before in a Disney movie song cover BUT one thing i would have done was ending with the flugelhorn but trumpet at the end haves some character too nice done
True artistry displayed in a most difficult medium. These instruments are very difficult to play in such wonderful balance. This my friends is music extraordinaire.............
What a long way you have come Louis! It's so great to see how you have grown as a musician and that you have lived your dream! Good luck in the future!
honestly, this is my favorite one you have made so far, you are so talented, and I wish I could be as good as you, I thank you for giving me something to stride for Louis.
Thank you for this Louis… when you released this it was my motivating song… before a test, even before a workout. Even now that I am an adult now I still listen to this before job interviews or even when I’m just having a down day.
Simon...beautiful woodwind playing and L. D. I watched u play lead in the Buble TV special. Honestly, I can't imagine any finer trumpet playing than Louis and Wayne. Bravo!!!
It’s not just the notes that are ridiculous, it’s that they’re clear, unwavering, and immaculately in tune. That’s the mark of hours of long tones right there.
This is by far my favorite big band cover of any song on the internet currently, I can't stop listening to it! Can't wait to buy the arrangement... if I can find the dedicated people to fill all the parts :P
Different flugel in this one? Which one is it? Awesome job as always! Even with your fat big band tone your sound in the lyrical sections of this piece is extraordinary. Absolutely love listening to you play. Keep up building your youtube audience and I bet you could do a CD in the near future. Best wishes and happy holidays!

Wonderful arrangement, and Louis you are just hitting it out of the park. Really enjoy! When are you coming to the US? Would love to see you and band live!
Elecro Hillkill he must have missed a note. Its impossible for a human to play that high, even with a piccolo trumpet. For most people their hearing ends around 16k-18k Hz.
