It is better if you are there. Workers a thief, contractor, some family members and depend on the area your materials are constantly missing. By the time you finish you build 2 house.
Building your own house is overrated. You can find one that you really like that someone else made. The headache you experience building is not always good for everyone. So not a general rule “better to build vs buy”
These new homes have no yard space! That’s the one thing I HATE!! I would rather buy a nice piece of land, 2 to 3 acres, and build what I want and add a variety of fruit trees, and a pool of course.
I ain’t buying no house in Jamaica! So someone can ambush me ? No way I ll buy land in Africa and feel more happy back to the mama Africa ! All the way .

By the time you pay closing cause, lawyer, this one and that one, every cent suck from your pocket like a vacuum. Buy an old house with land space and fruit trees. Fix it the way you want it. You don't have to live on the hills in order to see land.
I will go and live in Jamaica this year with my family. I recently signed a contract to work in New Kingston, but i´m looking for a house with land space and fix it my way. But the only thing I find in internet is very expensive properties with not land space. Any recommendation of any website to find old houses with land space? Thank you.
Look out for the scammers because some of them also work for a bank and be careful of the area because we always hear pure bad news would love to come back home to live lol but they might just jack up the price of the property thanks for sharing this one it gives us all the real deal of Jamaica getting a house
Very informative. Beautiful interviewer, eloquent interviewee. Will have to search for this building consultant website. Would love to build a small home in hills.
Hi Donna, Thanks for asking. The process to purchase a property in Jamaica may vary depending on whether your method of purchase is cash or mortgage. Although you have asked about purchasing a 'house', you would also need to clarify whether you are referencing an actual single family dwelling or an apartment or land to build. You will need to retain the services of a professional real estate consultant here if you wish to have the property acquired entirely while you are overseas or you may arrange to travel to Jamaica and opt to oversee the acquisition process. Please email us at lawofharmony@gmail.com or visit our website at www.rubanharmony.com or give us a call at 1-876-383-3609 to arrange a free consultation!

Reymond, I was thinking of buying an investment property consistng of a two story house, with three or four bedrooms on each floor, and renting the whole or one of the three bedroom to a business entity, such as NCU Can you give me a little more about how does prepaying a mortgage works in Jamaica, Prepayment would enable me to quickly building up equity in the property, and cut the mortgage payments from twenty- five or thirty years, to maybe twenty years or less. Can you give me an idea as to what such a venture would cost, in terms of down payments, lawyers fees, taxes, etc, and what are the prospects of investing in a co-op or condo development, for the long term... Do you have REITS IN Jamaica, and how does it work, lastly, what are the hottest property locations in Jamaica right now? I used to work in the underwriters office of HSBC IN New York, so I might want to get into something like that if it is feasible, once I finish my Masters degree at college Do you have any idea what is the hottest investment prospects in Jamaica right now, I heard Red Stripe was sold to Heineken some time ago...

You don't have to pay a mortgage if you pay in full right?
Char yes this is true, just Maintanence, utilities, community fees(if applicable)
@Brian Abisdid it's a reasonable question for people who have never bought a house and do not know how mortgages work
Brian Abisdid 😂😂😂😂smfh can’t stop laughing..
I think they should look up the meaning of mortgage
I rather to buy piece a country land and make one by one room and call it a day you all will sen ppl a mad house
Good plan.
The most important thing in buying home is that you will have a roof over your head, that you may one day own and handed down to your children.
My question is safety I'm from UK in America thinking about leaving

Would love to buy, but the crime off putting.

No wonder why the average Jamaican can't purchase a house
Is it easy to buy a house, it is easy to come up with $20 million. Can the average person come up with that kind of money?
It's not $20 million US dollars. It's $20 million Jamaican. $1 Canadian dollar= approx. $100 Jamaican dollars.
20 million is a lot of money and no
Happey67 answer to your ? No, no average person in JA can not afford the houses he is talking about period.
