As per the calculation provided by the company, there's no Capital gains tax for Resident individual. For 100 shares, 2 shares are being taken as TDS. So, it'll be 68 ordinary shares for resident individuals while it's 61 ordinary shares for NRI (14 %capital gains)

Sir - the comment and calc provided in video is wrongly assumed. This is the definition given by Tata themselves In case of Tata Moters, the DVR (Differential Rights shares) are getting converted in ordinery shares in the ratio of 10:7. Which means, you will get 7 ordinery shares of Tata Moters for every 10 DVR shares. In this, there is no sale happening and it’s just a change in the type of equity without any capital gains. So, it’ll not attract any Tax.

On or Before 29th of Aug we need to sell the DvR if you want to sell. On 30th Aug we have no option pls check.

There is an implicit gain in the arbitrage between current price of dvr and motors which is not in ratio of 7:10.. is your calculation complete only when you take this arbitrage gain

Elangovan, say company has total capital from 100 dvr shares and 100 normal shares 200k. Now, dvr conversion ratio are derived out of existing market price (0.7). Thus, post conversion total shares count would be reduced to 170 but capital would be intact (~200k). So, how come it is capital reduction? Infact, Tatamotor spiked today to 1122 to catch up to this ratio (769:1122 = 0.685). No more arbitrage opportunity. Request to clarify.

tat motors have provided the excel sheet for calculation, if we input yours of 1000 share bought at 500 rs + dividend 200 rs.. its showing we need to pay only 20,000rs as total tax including ( Dividened and STCG... but youre showing we need to pay around 66,000 rs as tax for holding 1000 dvr shares. please clarify

Gain = transfer cost - acquisition
= 7837 - (7348+(200*10))

@sakthivelan2003, don't think in terms of math. Just think of this as company selling your stock on your behalf and giving you different stock of the same value, instead. So, capital gain or loss need to be reported because sale happened. You would not lose your money. Yenna yenaiko oru naal vikumbothu nama tax kati thaan aganum. Atha ipove seyirom. Avalo thaan.

Tomorrow is the last day dvr will be listed in exchange. There is no question of hold. So, it does not matter whether you sell or company/exchange does it. But if you sell you have to buy Tatamotor yourself for the same amount and hold it.
Do not worry you will not lose money on any decision you make. Since sale will happen you would have to pay capital gain tax if you are in profit. Avalothaan.
