My grandma used to play this on a record player while playing cards in the kitchen with her brother and sister in law. I remember it so well it’s like stepping into a Time Machine and seeing them at the table playing and conversing with one another they’re gone now but I can always remember that it lives in my heart forever 😊
That’s the best venue in my opinion. Different genre, but my friend/coworker in Dallas long ago skipped our night shift one night, came back and had spent the evening in a club seeing Metallica! The band having beers, etc. 😂 Now front row tickets are thousands sometimes.
Love John Conlees music got to see him live once and he does a great job and listen to him all the time and hear hom on the grand ole opry and he still sounds great to this day
i remember this song my dad used to play this way back in the day when i was a kid. he would get hammered and sing to my mom who would be so pissed at him for being drunk . it was kinda funny i remember telling my 1/2 brother that dad was crazy he was 5 years older then me and used to go back and forth between my house and his real moms house. i come to realize that my dad great taste in music. RIP dad & mom.
This was on Austin City Limits when it was taped on the 6th floor of a high rise building on the University of Texas campus. Heard a ton of great music in that location.
I'm right there with you Anna!!!! Just this week I found Jon Schneider's song "At the sound of the Tone", which I thought was titled "Codeaphone" for some reason, and it brought back a time in my life that was forgotten so completely it never even was missed when thinking over my past life. And I never would have found it except for You Tube's mentioning it in their "recommending" it to me!!!
Was on the front side of 20 when Bob Kingsley introduced this on the ACC (Country's answer to Casey Kasem). Come October I'll be on the backside of 60. Darn, John it's been a long time!
Yeah I know the feeling . . . Hell I'll be 55 in a few months . . . time can pass really fast . . But I've lived longer than I ever thought I would . . . I was wild back in my younger days . . . And done some crazy shit . . . But I'm still here . . Thank God .
@@bethy-lou3307 Enjoy every single day... Wait... I'm 48 and thought I was strange for listening to John... You're 41 and a fan? Maybe I'm not strange after all...
The lyrics sites..which sometimes are using one source it seems..all say he drank "this much red" which makes no sense. How much red? He does say wine drunk, tho The reference to the apartment, and in other country songs they refer to drinking the "rent." It almost sounds like "month's rent" here... I want it to be ...seems more appropriate and flows better...somebody ask John
Man keep your drama to yourself Neil Tipton . Obviously your personality sucks. Get your ass up there and do what them artists do. You don't what he's been through.

I got to meet John several years ago. Super nice and an awesome performer!
One of my country heroes
His singing voice sounds more hard-living than he is, which is pretty cool.

Back side of 50 here. Twice divorced 🤦😄
Don't do it again!!
I like this better than the album version.
It is a great song but it didn't need the strings that the studio version has.
Is this from Austin City Limits?
Yes it is. The show was broadcast on PBS, about mid-80's.
Thanks,

yes, "to drink this month's rent" is correct
Unfortunately. His albums sound way better than he does live. Almost to the point where it is unfair to ticket buyers
Neil Tipton birthday does it
gotta consider this was probably from the late 70s-Mid 80s
Man keep your drama to yourself Neil Tipton . Obviously your personality sucks. Get your ass up there and do what them artists do. You don't what he's been through.
Neil Tipton
I've heard both and live is the best. It was money well spent.
