      I've had my own issues with this but it never seemed like a complicated concept for me because I was always taught that who you are isn't just physical, the real you is spiritual. Obviously that's not complete, but it made me understand that the physical world is not everything. Idk if that makes any sense, but it helped me to understand the difference between what I want and what God wants, and that what I want will almost always run counter to what God wants and I should strive to set down what I want to do for what God wants.
      I think that's the whole point of life, really.

    I am Orthodox Christian. One of my parishioners is gay and Jewish and a convert and his self-chosen celibacy is the best thing that ever happened to him. He is getting his life together, caring about himself and taking good care of his health and he wasn't doing that before. He has lost so much fear he used to have, and is facing life more (simply basic issues like managing money or seeing doctors, etc). He has a regular good prayer life. He is still open that he is gay and Jewish, he would never deny these aspects of his identity, but his love of God is so true and we love him in our parish. The real thing is that he comes closer to God and know Christ, that is it. The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. FWIW I had another friend who was very active in the Episcopal church and very open in his lifestyle, and was murdered by a couple of guys he picked up. I do think it is important that any church start to teach people that they need to do things that are healthy and good for them in their lives, not self-destructive. Also I may say there are some Orthodox priests who speak of "family-olatry," so I am hearing what you are saying.

    The thing about the gay lifestyle being very dark and un wholesome, instead of the rose and happy life shown in movies and tv, is the same thing Milo Yiannopoulos said even before he decided not to be homosexual anymore.

    • @christopherscheiber1439
      @christopherscheiber1439 2 года назад +2

      The description of homosexuality as a lifestyle is a blatent oversimplification of human sexuality in general and homosexuality in particular. The purpose of this indoctrination of the collective societal psyche is paramount to the self validating delusion of heterosexuality possessing moral validity. The reason that we never hear the term " heterosexual lifestyle" is because there is no need to catogorize heterosexuality with such inherent connotative oversimplification in order to subconciously justify contempt and hatred through subjective comparison. While one may indeed choose the physical expression of inward sexual desire, that is not what ultimately defines ones sexuality, but the inward desire, or fundamental orientation itsself, and that is not chosen,and is present regardless of its being expressed or not. But to take the conversation to this deeper level threatens peoples subjectivly comparative sense of moral superiority. I have known homosexuals that have been married to the opposite sex, yet could only function with their wives by thinking of the male anatomy. They are still gay. Similar to the men in prison that can only function sexually with men by thinking of the female anatomy. They are still heterosexual. I mean, people think that people wake up and decide to be gay or straight over toast and coffee? Geeze.

    • @olympics1234567
      @olympics1234567 2 года назад +5

      @@christopherscheiber1439 Nobody thinks people wake up and decide to be gay or straight over toast and coffee. That's just an over simplification that lives in your head.
      For some people, having sexual relations with someone's husband or wife ( adultery ) is repulsive and for others it's exciting and feels natural.
      For some people telling lies feels totally natural and others just naturally know it's wrong and harms relationships.
      Same goes for fornication ( having sexual relations outside of marriage ).
      Just because some sinful behavior feels natural to you, doesn't mean that your not obligated to resist, restrain, and overcome that behavior. That includes homosexuality.
      I listened to a retired psychologist, had done therapy for exclusively gay men ( just because of where his practice was ) and he said that in 40 years, he did not have one client that had not been molested by a man in their childhood.
      I guess my point is that we all have certain sins that come naturally, and everyone has internal battles to fight, in order to enter the kingdom of God.

    Beckett story is familiar. I was also touched by the Holy Spirit.
    What felt like an electric shock started in my head and ran
    they my body and out my feet. In my head I heard the first
    commandment. I'd like to say I became a Christian at that
    moment, but it wasn't until '08, when I lost my only son, that
    I was brought to my knees. I hoped I would die, because I
    believed I would not get thru the pain. I knew I could not take
    my life because my two daughters needed me to be strong. I
    had seen my parents go through it when I was nine and my
    youngest brother was killed. My son was born on his BD. I'm
    here to say I'm happier today than I've ever been, thanks to
    Jesus.

    I don't know why this turned up in my RUclips feed. (I'm an older, secular, straight Jewish woman.) I suppose an algorithm "saw" that I'm interested in learning about various religions. Becket Cook certainly has a gift of being a compelling storyteller. And I'm glad that he's found happiness in his life, just as I'd wish for anyone to be happy. One thing I've never understood about many in the Christian Evangelical community. What ever happened to the "judge not" part of their beliefs? And what ever happened to humility? In their view, being gay is a sin, and they, apparently, have the corner on Truth. I know they point to passages in the bible to justify their beliefs. Just as many in the past pointed to passages to justify beliefs like slavery. I don't understand why we can't all just truly love our fellow man--not in a condescending way "in spite of," but in the spirit of acceptance for all our differences, without judgment.

I pray for all who’ve dealt with this that they are healed in Jesus Christ and return to the Catholic Church, the only one established by Christ while He was on earth and 15 centuries before Martin Luther amended the Catholic Bible that led to currently 70K+ denominations

    I've been watching videos recently about this topic, just found Becket Cook, who is a great voice for this subject. As a born again Christian woman in ministry, I'm really trying to understand this because in my own heart I have an aversion to homosexual behavior. Before I was saved, I didn't get it then either, but I had no objection to it; I thought it was just a lifestyle choice. AFTER I was saved, over time, I developed a strong righteous repulsion to it. But I want to be able to minister to these folks and so I'm trying to understand this. There are testimonials of people who do develop opposite sex attraction, seemingly by the power of the Holy Spirit. I would love to hear about that, how does that happen. Because if it is the sin that the Bible says it is (which of course it is) WHY do people have such a difficult time letting go of the compulsion to do it? Complex subject. Thanks for sharing this interview, God bless!

      Its not the attraction its the ACTION....preachers who divorce and remarry; being single and having sexual attraction to the opposite sex without marriage even on the horizon. I have some female friends who have longed to be married...but its not happened (and neither has sex). We live in a culture where satisfaction of our every desire is the goal of life...rather than living a meaningful life (if the Bible is too far out..at least listen to Jordan Peterson).

    perhaps that desire is in you to yearn for the truth comes from the Holy Spirit. Perhaps your baptism...God is there....and the church is praying for you. I was baptized Lutheran and I was encouraged many times to be baptized as a believer...but I always believed and joked that my infant baptism stuck. I believe that 'faith' is a gift from God.
