I wanted a cowbell just before the 3-second mark! This is amazing, though. It would be so great to hear the whole track redone, but it looks like an endurance challenge.
i'm in actual disbelief at those rolls, how's this gone like a year and a half with less than 5000 views...? Also I love your use of multiple snares for different tones. But speaking of my disbelief, is the sound edited at all? Or maybe I just can't parse the difference between the track and your playing. Specifically I'm wondering at 0:30 where you're hitting the middle snare and the tone is descending, if that was something you actually figured out a way to play or if that's just me hearing the track (in which case I'm curious how much of what I'm hearing in the rolls is your playing vs the track, and how tight your actual rolls are). I hope I'm barking up the wrong tree though cuz this looks so impressive.
As he explained in the recent Andrew Huang feature, it's post-processed mostly with compression to give it that machine-like evenness. Regarding the rolls, he's splitting it between the snares and using different strokes (rim, side, center), more so implying the tone/frequency. That's pretty much how I program breakbeats when not chopping amens, really cool seeing the real thing performed live.
@@ontoverseThis. I was also in disbelief, and then that interview made it clear that the disbelief was accurate. Sounds great. Really cool. Not possible with drums/sticks/hands alone.
how the hell did you do that!!! you know.. my dad and my older brother are drummers..but i never got into it ..but now...at the age of 36..i think you have got me intrested and i think if i got in to it. it would really make my dad happy
