Hymn 43 by Jethro Tull is a favorite of mine from them. It is from the same album.
“If Jesus saves, well he better save himself
From the gory glory seekers who use his name in death”

I suggest the entire Aqualung album minus the title song. Maybe it was overplayed in my youth but I find it unfortunate that it is the song they are best known for by cursory listeners.

I'm french speaking, in early seventes we had no idea about the lyrics. It's the music that made that band so special. 50 years later, you are comenting that master piece. Try Thick as a brick and Power play.

Off the same album, "Wind Up" is banger ending the album, again, speaking about the way mankind "believes" in Jesus Christ the way they want to selfishly see HIm and their hypocrisy. Just a GREAT song.

People thought this was an anti god song, what it is, is really a pro god song but anti church and organized religion song. His thought was how man, who actually did invent ( create) religion and not God,put God at the center of each religion and committed atrocities in his name.

  • @mcee8634
    @mcee8634 2 года назад

Early Jethro Tull; their music always have that hard, blusie edge. The lyrics here, yes, a strong case can be made against strong church establishments which manipulated folks.
    J. Edwards. If he believed in and trusted the Lord Jesus Christ's crosswork alone for his salvation, then he was a saved man and he's with the Lord now. How so? Because Edwards salvation was not contingent on what he did or didn't do. No one can earn their salvation. No one. You know, it's the "gift of God, not of works." You know, the gift is given, "upon all them that believe." How many would have been furious if they knew that rascal thief on the cross was saved? He couldn't do anything to atone for what he had done in his life. And that man was also railing on the Lord at first! And then there's Saul of Tarsus. Approved the stoning of Stephen. Hauled men, and women, to prison, approved their death's. Saul blasphemed the Holy Ghost in Acts 7. The unforgivable sin, he was doomed. But he was saved due the "secret" God revealed to him about the program change. See Eph. 3. The events mentioned in Rev about Babylon has to do with God's program with Israel. It's the prophetic program, we're not in that now, we're in the "dispensation of the grace of God." Babylon, the great whore has to do with the Satanic political, religious system which persecuted Israel in "time past," and then in that time, "the time of Jacob's trouble." Jeremiah 30:7.
The Lord will save anyone, an LGBTQ person, a convicted murderer, anyone, even a very good kind, generous, philanthropist. So again, we're not excusing the slave trading Edwards was engaged in, but if he believed in and trusted Christ alone, Edwards is with the Lord now in heaven.

I am a devote Catholic but the thing i have against christainity that only if you believe in christ you will go to heaven. That leaves out Jews Gods chosen people. Also people who never got a chance to know Jesus i just have a problem with that. To my knowledge is that god is a very loving God.

  • @Rassskle

I would like to point out that the US Civil war was never about slavery.
It was purely about wealth and who was ALLOWED to be wealthy.
The northern industrialists who owned the US government were jealous of the growing wealth down south and scared the south’s growing financial strength and power.
Lincoln was ordered to financially brake the south, hence the Mason Dixon line.
By denying the south slaves, its farming economics would disintegrate rapidly...... but the industrialists were always going to keep their own slaves and continue to profit from slavery.
Lincoln did not free his own slaves until he was forced to by his own government out of fear of losing the next election.

I read the Bible and coming across folks as yourself and comments and it only confirms what the Bible says and strengthens my belief in it. I can't prove that God exists but you can't prove that He doesn't. We both believe what we believe by faith and faith is only as good as the object of one's faith. If you therefore have faith in nothing, well then that's what you are left with. However, my faith in God provides me with hope and peace even in the midst of adversity. At my darkest moments, my faith has gotten me through because of the God with whom my faith is in and He has never failed me.

Likewise, I've heard the same foolishness for 40 years from those who don't believe in God and who have a worldview that cannot answer satisfactorily the important questions of life and existence. I say foolish since that's what the Bible calls it. I would say good luck to you but luck will not help you. I will pray for you Mark. Take care of yourself.
