@@chwezimadeit Yep! We're in that time where everything has become open and it's challenging because you have to be really creative and incorporating everything, but the competition is relatively thin! We just have to push hard!
I find that branding can sometimes be overlooked and artists are left wondering why people aren't connecting with their content as much as their music, and it really comes down to the fact that PEOPLE grow brands and if there's not a solid brand to get your teeth stuck into, then there's nothing to set yourself out from the very crowded market
It's so important to be yourself and not think that we could all simply copy what Lewis Capaldi or any other artist did to blow up. Lately on Instagram I'm trying to be myself a lot more and tell my story as it is, besides making music: I'm a young father who loves his daughter madly, I work remotely so I travel often, and I freaking love cooking and food in general. As a result I'm able to post a lot more great content more frequently and my engagement is growing steadily. I found a great balance between what goes in the feed vs. the stories, and this vlog type of strategy is really starting to work for me. And here's the best part: I get my followers with classic rock covers, so they start to follow because they love music, and then they stay for the story. We'll see how many of them come to my debut gig and stream my next releases, but I do have a good vibe about it.
Regina Spektor has been a favorite of mine for a long time! She is adorable, clever, and creative, which comes across in every inch of her branding. She wears blacks and dark blues, often with sailor stripes, but always has that splash of bright red. Her music has moments of serious, beautiful lyric writing mixed with her silly attempt at making dolphin noises. She’s not afraid to experiment. It’s all so specific to her!

this channel gives tips and tricks which are indirectly tips, tricks and morale values for life. found this channel yesterday, now I'm addicted to this.
I have been locked in on your videos. Not only do you drop knowledge/information but you don't do alot of useless talking, every point/backstory is meaningful. 🔥🔥🔥
Rob Zombies branding is insanely good. He hasn’t had a good album or movie in over a decade, and STILL headlines every festival he plays at. Why?- the Zombie brand. Genius.
His show is insane too. You can see him and his band genuinely enjoy performing, they have fun on stage, they make eye contact with the public, they smile at them. I don't listen to their music on a regular basis, but I won't miss an opportunity to see them live!
Great video! Answering your question: I am following a lot of artists with good brands but I think none of them has a brand so strong like Kaguya Luna has, who is also one of my favorites. She is primarily a Japanese Vtuber, but makes her own music as well.
I wanna say what you’re doing on this channel is literally outstanding. I’ve only seen about 4 videos so far and it’s like I’m learning new things - about my music, about the music industry, ideas to even grow myself. I just wanna say thank you for having this channel. Thank you big time!!
I watched this video yesterday, and the message didn't quite translate. But I watched it again today and now everything about how this relates to me suddenly just clicked into place. Thank you!
Really glad I discovered this channel and subbed, you both have been giving me the necessary knowledge and confidence to do this the right way and build my career from the ground up. Thank you.
Such great advice, I especially like how you give us new and interesting creators to check out. The online branding is key to finding those fans that will stick with you and that is not easy to do. I've been tuning in for a few weeks now. As a touring musician you tend to neglect fully developing the online presence. Your advice has really helped me sharpen up those loose ends . Big thanks!
my favorite artist brand is Tyler the Creator. I particularly enjoy how he can change his style so often and still stay true to himself over the years.
I wonder if you know how many people are going to make it in music because of Burstimo. Really inspiring, thank you! An artist I think has got impeccable branding is Melanie Martinez, the toy house, playground doll/school satire has been carried throughout her start, with the half coloured hair and china doll fashion making her identifiable. My favourite artist though is Kim Petras though aha, her music and visuals are so good, and she is the first trans pop star which obviously has made her stand out, she utilises it well. Thanks again :)
Mariah Carey always stood out for me as unique, strong and dynamic individual- as an artist and a person. She was told so many times in her career that no one is going to like something she wanted to put out, and after ignoring the naysayers, reaped the benefits of doing what she felt was right for her and her brand. When Mariah put out the song "Fantasy" and wanted to put O.D.B. on it, everyone was like "What are you doingggg? People aren't going to like this." (because at the time, nobody was putting rappers into pop songs) It was a super risky move in the eyes of many. But she was really excited by the idea and did it anyways. Now how many pop songs have you seen featuring rapping as a staple, over the last 20 years? I mean come on, hiphop has had a steady climb for the longest time and now singers and rappers have come so close together that most huge pop stars are doing both. I know I do ;)
Love it! Her brand is so strong that now she's coming back for Christmas again with the Walkers advert and her social media content and people are loving it
I love this channel so much. Such quality content. Thank you for reminding us of the importance of branding. I think we forget that we all have a unique story to tell. xx

Wow! I never paid attention to all these details. Thank you so much from Italy for your advice and if you want let me know what you think about my latest single. :)
Really inspiring... As a songwriter I’ve always preferred a halo of mystery but now I understand that through visuals I can make a difference, cause Avery musician has got a talent and that talent writes a very deep story. Talent and passion are the nuts and bolts and there is value in showing them and communicating them as this intensity is what makes life special, the pursuit of it. And people don’t have to forget what really counts....what really matters!!
Thank you guys. I discovered you a few weeks ago and been following ever since. Saw you at BBC introducing but was too shy to go up and say hi. Thank you for the useful tips. I'm conflicted about the ethics of using my story; got an incurable illness which has ruined millions of lives, and it could be seen as shamelessly exploitative to put that forward in PR. Not exploitative if you're teaching others and raising awareness
We wanna release our first single in about 2 months and all your guys' videos have been so helpful so far! Thank you!
We have a question regarding explicit language;
Do you have an idea if Spotify curators shy away from putting tracks with explicit language and explicit language in the title in playlists, or does it not matter at all?
The track we want to release has the word "fucking" in the title and in the song, but it's merely used as an adjective and the overall vibe of the song isn't aggressive/negative at all. Nothing about our overall image is about explicit language and we're not planning on making our image edgy. It just works really well in the song and it's not a big deal at all to be honest. We were just thinking if it's a risk leaving it in.
We see songs with the "explicit" label in all types of playlists that we think fit our single as well, but those are more established artists, so perhaps they get a pass?
Thanks in advance and keep doing what you're doing! It's well appreciated!
Depends on the playlist entirely on whether they'll feature explicit language.
