F(x) is amazing but I wouldn’t call them popular. At least not by SM standard. Their sales had been declining after 2013-2014, and they were outshined by SNSD. Even a baby Red Velvet sold almost as much as F(x) at their peak. There are valid reasons to resent SM for the mistreatments and the negligence of the fandom but let’s not try to rewrite history and the fact that SM may have just made a call based on cold harsh business reality.
Well remember China put a huge tax on chinese talent after 4 Walls. For the reason lay from EXO was not an active member for awhile. 4 Walls involves 4 simultaneous parallel universes, wherein each individual is "the main actor" and the other three are "supporting" This is why Krystal starts opening the medicine cabinet and Amber finishes; we, the observer, changed P.O.V. universes seamlessly. The one wearing blue in a scene segment is the designated "main character" of that parallel. "Reality" has a desaturated color pallette and square aspect ratio. The storyline is, one person breaks the cup, another person (not noticing the cup is missing) pours water, which spills onto the floor, and a third person slips on the water. Knocked unconscious by the fall (in their four respective parallels), each of the members explores the dreamscape (saturated colors, widescreen aspect ratio), each taking turns as the "observer", piecing together the events that lead up to the fall (the real disaster; stepping on the broken cup only served to make the designated observer notice it). With all the clues assembled (with a few random distractions, because dreams) "Operator, I need an exit!", the dreamer awakes knowing the future and that she has _just_ enough time to avert the disaster, and does so.
F(x) was SM ENT. experimental group and I love how every comeback was so different they really had a lot of range and their bsides are gold! Pink Tape is still considered one if the best kpop albums by billboard!
4 walls is a special song to me, before coming into myself and just being happy i had this song randomly come on and i at the time didnt know it was kpop, just thought they were mumble singers putting on a accent but the songs just so beautiful to me/ especially if you've heard the demo and seen the live stage..

So Austin f(x) was where Red Velvet got their unique sound from. SM started experimenting their music through f(x) in preparation for their future girl group which we now know was Red Velvet. All of Red Velvets unique sounding music came through f(x).
Red Velvet is the experimental yet popular group that SM wanted f(x) to be, and would never be, because avant-garde art like f(x)'s, while popular, wasn't viral-popular in the way that kpop "must" be to be considered a success in the industry.
@@xheralt yes red velvets music can b considered experimental but thats coz sm used what they learned from releasing experimental music through f(x). F(x) did the hard work and red velvet benefited from it. I do blame sm for not caring enough about fx.
@@AznIntegra521 You got that right. IMO a big part of SM's neglect of f(x) from day one (no fandom name, no lightstick, etc. until very late in their tenure) is the fact that only 2 of 5 were full Korean, the other 3 being Korean-American, Taiwanese-American (even if she called herself Chinese to finesse larger political issues), and mainland Chinese.
Shinee and f(x) were like the pioneers of experimental music in kpop. I'm pretty sure today's generation's music has been influenced by I Got a Boy and Pink Taps(f(x)'s first full album). F(x)'s has a huge impact in the industry, they innovated and introduced new sounds while still meeting success which changed the industry's music scape.
Thanks for reacting to F(x) again, the one you mention as your favourite is Luna(yes, she is the one you like in the last reaction), she is the Main Vocalist of the group. I love this group, they are very talented but its sad that they don't get the attention t they deserve.
Thank you for reacting to f(x) again! I’ll try to answer some of the questions you had. - f(x) was known for being experimental with their sound and it was kind of their “brand”. You never knew what you were gonna get! They usually stayed within the electronic genre though. - the girl you thought was Jessica’s sister is actually Luna! She is the main vocal and lead dancer of the group and has an amazing voice. She is also the blond in Danger that you liked. - the leader of the group is Victoria. She is the one in the white and blue dress in the forest scene in 4 Walls. Krystal, Jessica’s sister, is the one in pink!
A lot of people say that Red Light is f(x)'s Zimzalabim. Seems like Sm likes to give its GG at least a song that is too much for our poor human ears. I can definitely say that it grows on you, like the already mentioned Zimzalabim or I Got A Boy. 😂😂
I Got A Boy crawled so Red Light would walk and TEMPO could run. F(x) might not be everyone's taste. SM in general is very experimental in its releases but F(x) is the group with the most experimental music and discography of all time (hence their name). Pink Tape is still in my top 3 kpop albums EVER.
I got A Boy, Red Light and Zimzalabim are the textbooks and MAIN EXAMPLES for "experimental sounds" in Kpop. Imagine three of them sitting and having lunch together...... 😭
Personally, I LOVE Red Light, but kudos to you for being honest and admitting it wasn't your style. Most reacters are too concerned they'll be canceled for having an actual opinion. I'm a huge supporter of your channel. Keep up the awesome content!
Well Fx was always well known as experimental group they never repeat concepts just like RedVelvet but Fx is kind of much more well known for concepts that is very different....And some of the people really don't prefer their concepts...
Yes, f(x) was very weird and experimental during the 2nd generation period, they're the sister group of SHINee, like their female counterpart, and SM started to be very experimental with these two groups back in 2008-2009, and they were the coolest groups to me! I hope you can listen to SHINee as well! Actually, when SHINee released View in 2015, introducing the house genre to Korea, f(x) released 4 Walls a couple of months later, solidifying the popularity of that genre that summer. And fun fact: their songs were supposed to be reversed, that is View was meant for the girls and 4 Walls for SHINee! I'll always want to listen to their versions of the songs T____T
Actually I recently saw an interview with one of the composers who asked about this. He didn't know who View was intended for originally (could have been F(x) before he got involved). He said he and his friends just decided to write 4 walls thinking SM might like it as a follow-up to view for Shinee; However, SM decided to pitch it up and gave it to F(x). I just thought it was funny, cause fans could have told them no way SM would have Shinee release two similar songs in a row :D
Being “experimental “ was their whole concept. SM wanted a sister group different than girls generation. I hated electric shock at first, but it grew on me hard af! Red light is literally a bop and I think you’d get a better understanding of it if you looked up the lyric translation. It hits hard because it kind of anthem-like. One of my favs from f(x).
For next: It would be great to watch SM family funny moments or something like that Maybe more Taeyeon or SNSD live stages For Taeyeon: -Into The Unknown THE UNSEEN CONCERT -Feel So Fine 'S CONCERT - Page 0 MV ft Melomance SM STATION song For SNSD: -Express999 2nd Japan Tour Girls&Peace - T.O.P 2nd Japan Tour Girls&Peace - Goodbye (basically Taengic's song) Unfortunately this is from Yu Huiyeol's Sketchbook KBS
Electric Shock and 4 Walls are also my favorite title tracks 🥰 Pinocchio (Danger) was the song that got them their first win, I think the longest time it took for an SM girl group but it's cause they were on a long hiatus at the time and fans thought Amber might not come back for health related reasons. So that's why they cried so much when they finally won 🥺 Proud of them always
f(x) YES My first favourite group! They were the first ones who made me at least a little bit proud of being a kpop fan :D And their albums have soooo many great tracks.
I hope you do continue to react to F(x), they were so awesome. Some songs to give a try: La Cha Ta- Their debut song, its really good and their live performances were awesome for rookies. These girls were super hard workers, you can even still find a fancam of them dancing and singing to LaChaTa in freezing pouring rain and still giving it their all. Chu- Its like the cooler younger sister to SNSD's Kissing you. The mv has some really beautiful shots of the girls and is just cute and fun. Nu Abo- This is their most iconic song, great song, dance and video. I also really loved their live performances for this song because Amber got so much love when it was her turn to sing or rap her parts. It was an awesome time for F(x) Hot Summer- Awesome pop song, has a more international feel to it similar to Hyuna's Bubble Pop. Hot Summer was the first kpop song I ever heard being played in the US(Heard it at the E3 convention of all places) Some people also consider this to be F(x)'s most iconic song. All Mine: A really cute song, their voices sound great and the mv is just them like live blogging themselves. Really cute song. Butterfly: A B-side from their Red Light album, No MV and I dont think they ever even performed it live but to this day its still one of my fav songs by fx and also just in kpop in general. Its just super chill and pretty sounding, I used to listen to it when I felt stressed driving on the 580 to school every day lol.
F(x) is a group that disbanded too early - I really loved them and theyre one of the first groups I got to know when I first listened to Kpop 11 years ago and I just love everything about themm
fyi, Luna is ranked as #1 as SM female main vocalist. Her techniques are extremely polished but sadly SM is a trash who didn't notice f(x) and Luna's potential. They did f(x) and Luna so dirty. She had her solo debut with *Free Somebody* but sadly it's extremely underappreciated. (you can try react to that tho) It's crazy that she got into SM for her dancing but then snatched the main vocal and main dancer position. It's also not easy for her because she used to get criticised by the netizens since f(x) songs usually don't showcase her vocals that much, unlike SNSD songs which are more appealing to the public. she shines a lot in other singing shows. Luna is really underrated, not only as a vocalist, but in her own group too. She is the member that barely gets the hype whenever she released solo projects and often get overlooked by the k-netz because of her tan skin tone (according to korean beauty standard) and her muscular body. It is disappointing and unfair to see how underappreciated she is considering the amazing talents she has. I'm glad she left SM and continue to create her own path right now
Highly suggest you check out Honey Bee, a collab with Luna (the girl you said is your favorite in Danger), Solar, and Hani from EXID. In my opinion it’s an iconic collab the three girls have amazing vocals and are all gorgeous, but sadly I don’t think the collab got the attention it deserved. I think you’d enjoy it though! Also fun fact! f(x) is moonbyul’s favorite group and Krystal is her ideal type lol
also 2014: Taemin's Danger, which was his solo debut. I realllllly recommend that as well as Pretty Boy, which he sings with Kai! And there are only performances of that one:)
hahaaha gues what Yea, It's the same girl you like in your last f(x)'s reaction. Her name is Luna, main vocalist. Wow, I just really surprised on your consistency :)))
yes 13:32 the blonde is LUNA (she’s not the leader but she’s the main vocalist and lead dancer) the same girl with black hair u liked in ur last reaction
See, Austin, I knew I always liked you. Not only did you pick Luna as your favorite (mine too, but I relate to Amber the most) you also always give Wheein (my ultimate bias of everything ever) the love, attention, and credit she deserves. Also, most people already told you Kyrstal is Jessica's sister so we'll skip that, but Red Light and 4 Walls both had to grow on me after I heard them for the first couple of times. Now I love them
Also no in 4 Walls the Purple is Luna, Pink crop top and shorts is Krystal~ Also yes, F(x) was always intended to be SM's hyper experimental sound group, but SM royally fucked that up. Red Velvet became the very experimental sound group, and we see that it's worked in spades.
Every member has some solo projects, that would be really interesting to see your reaction because you could see how different they are *Victoria* released her first album last year, she has 2 mvs but if i'm not mistaken there's only one of them officially on youtube - *Up to me* . Also she has a lot of osts (all of them are Chinese, not really sure that they are officially released on youtube either) *Amber* has album *X* , four EPs, a lot of singles and collaborations (featuring Taeyeon and Yuri from SNSD, Luna, Eric Nam, Ailee, Henry, Shannon and others). There's five mvs of X's songs and i like all of them but Other People and Hands Behind My Back stole my heart haha *Luna* has one EP *Free Somebody* and a lot of singles, osts and collabs. Also she was the first winner of King of Mask Singer, you should check her performances. Interesting fact: Luna is the only one in her family who didn't choose classical music as a major: her mother and twin sister are classically trained vocal majors, older brother is a composer and father is a conductor. Also Luna with her sister had performance on Immortal Songs 2 (Luna and Park JinYoung - Father 2017.02.11) and their older brother was in charge of arranging song for that performance. *Sulli* had one single *Goblin* , all three songs from that single sound really interesting and unique, also she featured in Dean's *dayfly* *Krystal* has collab *I Don't Wanna Love You* with June One Kim, osts and some collabs with Luna, Amber, her sister Jessica and other SM artists
I can't really get into F(x)'s old music, like I think the hooks are catchy and the women are iconic and incredibly talented, but I definitely rocked with 4 Walls and All Mine the most out of their discography. I mean that also has to do with me getting into kpop right after 4 Walls, so I'm sure the older songs would hit differently if I was a fan when they were released. I definitely wish they were treated better as a group though, and I'm not exactly sure what all went down with Sulli leaving but she's an absolute icon and queen too, I just love them all.
Can we talk about Pink Tape and how all tracks were a bop especially Step 🥰 Sir Austin sure missing out. 🥰 also bish don't get me started with red light album like its amazing especially Dracula, butterfly.❤❤
f(x) is considered one of the SM's experimental groups like SHINee and Red Velvet. Although they didn't sold as much albums as other SM's groups they always had good reviews. Just one example, not so far ago Billboard named Pink Tape the best k-pop album of the 2010's. But that doesn't mean they weren't popular (If you talk about k-pop's second generation, you have to mention them), probably one of the reasons that they didn't promote as much was that they mostly released full albums, one per year (while they were active). I love the fact you are reacting to this group because nowadays not many people know about them, and their influence in k-pop.... they were called "The aesthetic queens".
I always found it funny that SNSD's Yoona and Yuri appear (at first blush) to resemble Krystal more strongly than her _actual_ sister. If you see Jessica & Krystal together away from SM styling, the resemblance is much more apparent.

Yes, please! She's a fantastic vocalist and has a few MVs but I also recommend her solo live performances 😊
YEY MORE F(X)
My second ultimate group after SNSD
Their discography is the BEST in kpop
F(x) was SM ENT. experimental group and I love how every comeback was so different they really had a lot of range and their bsides are gold! Pink Tape is still considered one if the best kpop albums by billboard!
4 walls is one of their most popular songs before they went on hiatus. F(x) was an amazing group, amazing concepts, vocals and visuals
Basically this is just 4 min of Austin cringing and the rest of the time him desperately trying to figure out who Luna is.
f(x) songs is still all so amazing
you should check out their b-sides, honestly some of the best albums in all of kpop
4 walls is a special song to me, before coming into myself and just being happy i had this song randomly come on and i at the time didnt know it was kpop, just thought they were mumble singers putting on a accent but the songs just so beautiful to me/ especially if you've heard the demo and seen the live stage..
YEAAAAH f(x)!!! I've always knew about them but I never like fully listened to their songs. :( I really regret not listening to them earlier 🤧 BUT AHHH SO HYPED FOR YOU REACTING TO THEM HIHI
This group makes me so nostalgic... It's such a shame they didn't do as well as other SM groups... Their album Pink Tape is still one of my favourite albums ever it's iconic
Finally f(x)😭💜💜💜💜💜
13:40 the girl in the middle is Luna (main vocal). The leader is Victoria
Zimzalabim was also ready to be released around 2015.
We wouldve got the trio (IGAB, RL, ZZB) consecutively if Sm didn’t push Zimzalabim back
TaesLilClown wasn’t it 2016 tho? Bcs zzb was competing with Russian Roulette at that time and RR “won”
A lot of kpop based RUclipsrs that do like, "tea" or unpopular kpop opinions, etc etc. use 4 Walls in their intros/outros.
7:52 that was actually Luna, main vocalist
Amber and Luna have a solo MV's and I liked a lot, totally recommended.
Im really waiitng for him to watch free somebody
I'm waiting for Borders
While not _about_ the Sewol Ferry disaster _per se,_ "Red Light" is decidedly a metaphoric reaction to it.
SM songs are hard to digest on first listen but when u listen few more times, it's addictive and never get bored.
For next:
It would be great to watch SM family funny moments or something like that
Maybe more Taeyeon or SNSD live stages
For Taeyeon:
-Into The Unknown THE UNSEEN CONCERT
-Feel So Fine 'S CONCERT
- Page 0 MV ft Melomance SM STATION song
For SNSD:
-Express999 2nd Japan Tour Girls&Peace
- T.O.P 2nd Japan Tour Girls&Peace
- Goodbye (basically Taengic's song) Unfortunately this is from Yu Huiyeol's Sketchbook KBS
Another recommendation , shannon is a British-Korean singer and a friend of amber , check their collab , "love don't hurt" if you like
Electric Shock and 4 Walls are also my favorite title tracks 🥰
Pinocchio (Danger) was the song that got them their first win, I think the longest time it took for an SM girl group but it's cause they were on a long hiatus at the time and fans thought Amber might not come back for health related reasons. So that's why they cried so much when they finally won 🥺 Proud of them always
The girl said "Remember me" in Danger is Krystal, now sir you should keep your promise 😂😂😂
I surely will never forget about them
Red Light and 4 walls are two of my favorite SM's experimental songs. 🤣 I love that there are so many sounds mixing.
Yay excited for more f(x)👏🏻🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Thanks for the reactions Sir Austin!🏳️🌈🔥
f(x) YES
My first favourite group! They were the first ones who made me at least a little bit proud of being a kpop fan :D
And their albums have soooo many great tracks.
I love your honesty! And I knew that 4 walls, after your opinion on Red Light, would suit you uwu
Coach, you missed the CHOCOLATE LOVE! 🤣😎😝
4 walls was played in H&M’s stores at the time, I would hear it 4/5 times a day. The person you were calling Jessica’s sister wasn’t, it was Luna.
Red light is such a bop though... if you like I got a boy and zimzalabim you will like red light
I hope you do continue to react to F(x), they were so awesome. Some songs to give a try:
La Cha Ta- Their debut song, its really good and their live performances were awesome for rookies.
It was an awesome time for F(x)
Hot Summer- Awesome pop song, has a more international feel to it similar to Hyuna's Bubble Pop.
Its just super chill and pretty sounding, I used to listen to it when I felt stressed driving on the 580 to school every day lol.
thank u for reacting to this!!!! f(x) is my favorite group and i miss them so bad... hope u can react to luna’s solo too!!!!! 💜💜💜💜
I'm soooooo happy that you see more of fx!!!😭💜💜💜
You don't need to apologize, you didn't roast them, everyone have different taste so it's ok
And being honest is great
Love your reaction ❤
F(x) is a group that disbanded too early - I really loved them and theyre one of the first groups I got to know when I first listened to Kpop 11 years ago and I just love everything about themm
fyi, Luna is ranked as #1 as SM female main vocalist. Her techniques are extremely polished but sadly SM is a trash who didn't notice f(x) and Luna's potential. They did f(x) and Luna so dirty. She had her solo debut with *Free Somebody* but sadly it's extremely underappreciated. (you can try react to that tho)
It's crazy that she got into SM for her dancing but then snatched the main vocal and main dancer position.
F(x) “danger” was the first KPOP song and video that I’ve ever seen!! Was addicted ever since
love how you always point out luna without fail
Being objective, and objective only, Luna is actually considered the best female vocalist in SM.
also 2014: Taemin's Danger, which was his solo debut. I realllllly recommend that as well as Pretty Boy, which he sings with Kai! And there are only performances of that one:)
hahaaha gues what
Yea, It's the same girl you like in your last f(x)'s reaction. Her name is Luna, main vocalist.
Wow, I just really surprised on your consistency :)))
Red Light probably was the start of SM's "how many songs can I fit in 1(one) song" obsession..
yes 13:32 the blonde is LUNA (she’s not the leader but she’s the main vocalist and lead dancer) the same girl with black hair u liked in ur last reaction
Red light is so iconic, it was the song that got me into f(x) and remains to this day my favorite title track aside from nu abo
4 walls choreography is soooo satisfying like, it's one of my fav choreo ever
f(x) NU ABO- it's weird but catchy.
Yes fx!!! Gone but not forgotten...still one of my absolute fav girl groups. Please check out after school.
I love f(x) so much and this reaction means a lot to me. Thank you ❤
Pinocchio (Danger) is my first love and make me search f(x), Red Light and 4 Walls is my favorite. Thank you for reaction.. 😍
I loved red light so much back then. It was definitely ahead of its time
the blonde one in the danger mv is luna ! you should react to her solos free somebody and do you love me
You should react to Sulli's Goblin. The song is so beautiful and de mv is amazing.
Now I love them
the girl you liked is called luna, her is a soloist and lead singer of f (x) If you can, react to your solo, "Free Somebody" is an AMAZING song
Thanks por reaccionar a F(x)!
i love this
Awww my recommendations didnt make it.. but i hope you add it to you list for next time..
Lachata, Nu Abo are my faves..
Every member has some solo projects, that would be really interesting to see your reaction because you could see how different they are
*Victoria* released her first album last year, she has 2 mvs but if i'm not mistaken there's only one of them officially on youtube - *Up to me* . Also she has a lot of osts (all of them are Chinese, not really sure that they are officially released on youtube either)
*Amber* has album *X* , four EPs, a lot of singles and collaborations (featuring Taeyeon and Yuri from SNSD, Luna, Eric Nam, Ailee, Henry, Shannon and others). There's five mvs of X's songs and i like all of them but Other People and Hands Behind My Back stole my heart haha
*Luna* has one EP *Free Somebody* and a lot of singles, osts and collabs.
*Sulli* had one single *Goblin* , all three songs from that single sound really interesting and unique, also she featured in Dean's *dayfly*
*Krystal* has collab *I Don't Wanna Love You* with June One Kim, osts and some collabs with Luna, Amber, her sister Jessica and other SM artists
I definitely wish they were treated better as a group though, and I'm not exactly sure what all went down with Sulli leaving but she's an absolute icon and queen too, I just love them all.
the blond girl is Luna and she is the main vocal...
the leader is Victoria, the one with bangs...
Can we talk about Pink Tape and how all tracks were a bop especially Step 🥰 Sir Austin sure missing out. 🥰 also bish don't get me started with red light album like its amazing especially Dracula, butterfly.❤❤
Maybe you heard 4 walls in a demo compilation when you were searching for call me baby demo.
4Walls is Krystal's fav f(x) song ❤️
f(x) is considered one of the SM's experimental groups like SHINee and Red Velvet.
Please react to Amber's solo songs Shake that Brass and Other People 😍
yeah Taeyeon is featured in the music video!!!
Yes! please check out Other People!
Red light is my fav fx song lol. No one else seems to like it
I always found it funny that SNSD's Yoona and Yuri appear (at first blush) to resemble Krystal more strongly than her _actual_ sister. If you see Jessica & Krystal together away from SM styling, the resemblance is much more apparent.
f(x)’s b-sides are the best!!
