Looks like you've been binge-watching SM MV recently! f(x) is the most mistreated group from SM, and they didn't deserve it. They might have been labeled an experimental group, but that doesn't mean they should have gotten ignored by SM and never received a lightstick and other things. To answer your question, f(x) was supposed to be like a little sister group to SNSD, but I think Red Velvet got that title instead of f(x). f(x) is more like the step child that SM doesn't admit of having.
I feel like Red Velvet, if anything, were always considered to be SNSD’s children. F(x) were really branded as SNSD’s “sisters” towards the beginning. Especially with all those variety show/collab interactions between the two sibling group sets (Super Junior/SNSD and Shinee/F(x)). But I will always hate SM for not giving them the recognition they deserved. And I’ll always hate the Knetz who harassed the group (Sulli and Amber especially) for being “different”. They suffered the most at the hands of their own company.
As sadly as the truth is, F(X) was sm’s experimental group, they basically used F(x) to release highly experimental sounding music and the end result is where Red velvet got their unique sound from. They basically didnt care if the girls flopped or not. Thankfully the group took off right around the Nu ABO era and thats when SM gave them some attention but not much. But it was more because us International fans got into the unique sound of f(x) that they took off IMO. They were highly popular in international market then domestic.
f i n a l l y. my girls. the girl whose voice (and style) you liked in Electric Shock is Luna, their main vocal (who originally got into SM for her dance skills because she's just the Ace) . She has solo work, so I would recommend checking out Free Somebody, any of her King of Masked Singer appearances (she was the king for quite a while), or her Say So cover. Her voice is stunning tbh. Fun fact: Moonbyul is a huge Krystal fan.
f(x) was always the more experimental SM group, that was their main purpose. They were labelled as more of a dance group as well, although their vocals with Luna and Krystal were really great too. So, no they were not branded as SNSD's sister group or anything of the like. Never got a lightstick, never got a tour, their first "solo" concert had to be shared with EXO, SM poorly handled Sulli's dating controversy and cut Red Light promotions short, WHICH SHOULD'VE BEEN THEIR GREATEST COMEBACK, and then rushed Red Velvet's debut to try and distract from all the mess which undeservedly got a lot of hate thrown at Red Velvet from very upset f(x) fans.

While I agree with everything you said, they were pretty much branded as SNSD's sister group during the beginning. They were only a two month old group when they did the Chocolate Love CFs with SNSD and they had the whole white/black storylines to promote the LG phone.
Yes! And SHINee really did treat them like kid sisters. Which makes it a bit sadder that we lost someone from both groups. There was a very touching scene I remember. After Sulli had left the group f(x) came back with 4 Walls and they got their first win for that song on a Show that SHINee's Key was hosting and the members just fell apart because they didn't expect to win and Key had to hold and comfort Luna who was crying so hard... 🥺

Amber always has short hair and the androgynous look. That's the real her and not like a style force on her by the company or anything. Actually, she was scouted by the SM founder himself because of how she looked (she was apparently "just standing there" at a Korean festival in LA). And she really did turn heads in the industry. Because in a world where the girls were expected to look girly, cute or sexy, she stood out. Amber is a pretty chill and outspoken person. She's an icon :)
I’m actually surprised they purposely scouted for someone with her style. I always assumed that it was her personal style and they decided to take a chance on letting her present like herself because they wanted her talent for the group or something. Luna was the first winner of King of Mask Singer, you should check her performances, they are amazing! Also Luna with her twin sister had performance on Immortal Songs 2 (Luna and Park JinYoung - Father 2017.02.11) and their older brother was in charge of arranging song for that performance. If i'm not mistaken her mother and twin are classically trained vocal majors, older brother is a composer and father is a conductor, so Luna is the only one in her family who didn't choose classical music as a major. Fx is SNSD' lil sister. They're GREAT and AWESOME. Their only problem is they debut when SNSD was literally ON TOP, not only among GGs but also BGs. That alone makes them the underated girlgroup from SM, because SNSD will always get the push from SM. And SM almost always gave catchier GP friendly songs, and gave Fx the experimental songs. But they're really popular tho. For easier comparison for this era, its ITZY to Twice. Itzy can hold their own name, fandom, and popularity, but Twice will always be the no 1 ggs from JYP for this era. Also, the girl you always points out is LUNA, One of the best SM's FEMALE VOCALIST ! F(x) is a type of group that not everyone would like, but once you start loving them, there’s no going back. They do a lot of experimenting as a typical SM artist does.
F(x) is really unique. If we compare SNSD, F(x) and Red Velvet to siblings; SNSD obviously are the oldest who has inspired other kids around the neighborhood, they are well raised and received by the public, F(x) on the other hand tend to have that middle child characteristics very punk, rebel, and charismatic while Red Velvet, the youngest tend to have characteristics from both of its older siblings and tend to be the pride and joy of the family. for F(x) i suggest you react and check out their RED LIGHT and 4 WALLS MVs
big bang and 2ne1 got me into kpop when i was much younger, so i would enjoy seeing that. Big Bang felt like kings and were consistently putting out bangers for a long time

It wasn’t really that she was supposed to be in SNSD, it was just that they wanted her to come train but she was too young. Krystal was not in the line up of SNSD ever. Jessica trained under SM for 7 years before SNSD debuted.
Krystal wasn't supposed to be in SNSD. More like SM wanted to cast her into the company but she was so young so they casted Jessica into SM instead. And that was back in 2000, no plan for SNSD at that time. Not until at least 2005 when SJ debuted that they had planning for SNSD. And in all the predebut and training for SNSD group from then on, Jessica was always there together with the rest of SNSD (also with Stella, Soyeon, Chanmi, ...). And SNSD debuted in 2007 which was such long time since 2000 so yeah, Krystal was never supposed to be in SNSD. But maybe if not for her, SM wouldn't be able to find out Jessica. Also Krystal is the perfect fit for f(x) 😊
as many have mentioned, f(x) was just the group sm never really focused and pushed in promoting as much as they did w/ their boy grps and snsd. they are amazingly talented, experimental, and shinee's sister group. till this day, their 3 full length albums are god tier among kpop albums. cliche but ahead of their time i think. also the more you listen to red velvet, the more you'll hear a bit of f(x)'s sound in their music. ofc music producers worked w/ both but the sound can sometimes be similar and i love it.

I'm sure you've gotten a lot of confirmations that yes, F(x) ARE SNSD's little sister group. However another factoid which may not have been brought up as much is that they both recorded a song called 'Chocolate Love'. Their versions are different enough, it's not the exact same song just with different vocals. It might be worth doing a video to react to both of them together? It's been a WHILE since I've watched the F(x) version but I do remember really enjoying the vocals on the SNSD version.

F(x) was literally one of the most trendsetter groups. A LOT of groups today are heavilly based on this "girlcrush", experimental and mixing concepts that they kinda pulled off first. But still, no one is like them and still very unique, so it's worth to watch their other stuff. Btw their were meant to be a a kind of SNSD constrast at the time, kinda like their punk/cool little sisters.

I like how f(x) and SHINee are not too public-friendly. Honestly, public-friendly songs have typical lyrics about love. Breaking up, missing someone, loving, liking, fluttering, and etc. Public-friendly songs are still good but f(x) and SHINee portray love in their unique style.
I think groups from the same company are always known as siblings groups, because the company don't want to create a bad competition between their own groups. And in my opinion "red light" and "4 walls" are their best songs. Even tho "4 walls" were ot4
f(x) and Girls' Generation were label mates. f(x) was intended to be more unconventional. In 2009, both groups were hired to promote the new (at the time) LG New Chocolate Black Label phone with the song "Chocolate Love", each with their own version. The beginning of either music video is a transition from the other group. I wonder which version you would like better.
f(x) was moreso marketed as like SHINee's little sisters bc they both broke through with the experimental sounds, concepts and fashion. They did get briefly marketed as like the "dark" SNSD for the phone commerical song both groups did called "Chocolate Love" (also worth a watch/listen bc of the group differences). Their Pink Tape album was ranked within Billboard's top albums of the decade bc it's just so iconic. It was just so unfortunate that despite being from one of The Big 3, they never fully exploded in popularity/opportunities like they should have. Their B-side tracks were always sooo different and so good, really showing off their versatility.
A year late, but thought I'd throw this in! SHINee and f(x) were actually both experimental groups made by SM and they were only supposed to promote for a year or so. Both of them ended up unexpectedly successful and so they ended up continuing their careers. The 'experimental' theme definitely became a character trait for both groups; they have tried and pulled off so many concepts. They also promoted together a lot so the f(x) and SHINee members are very close :) So if anything, I'd say SHINee and f(x) were more sibling groups than anything. Unfortunately SM really dropped the bag with f(x) and let them gather dust with little to no explanation.

Sm groups work in brother-sister formations (suju with snsd, fx with shinee, exo with rv, and I think nct is the outlier here because I expect aespa will be the sister group of the smnbg). The girl whose voice and style you liked in electric shock was luna the main vocal. Lsm himself has called luna the best vocalist in sm which is saying something considering sm has taeyeon and wendy under them. Unfortunately I don't always think group songs show the extent of her skill because fx was always considered a performance based group with very edm style music (I love their discography though, imo it's one of the best in kpop). My biases in the group are krystal (one of the biggest it girls in kpop who gives off ice princess vibes like her older sister) and Victoria (the elegant dancer leader who has built a huge name for herself in china). I call krystal one of the biggest it girls in kpop because she has set so many trends it's unbelievable. I think one of the biggest is the tennis skirt trend which was popularised in rppp era which we still see on female idols today. She also has tons female idol fans (ironically I kinda see her as the female equivalent of Kai's idol of idols nickname, in that they both are looked up to by idols everywhere).
One thing to note in K-Pop is that there are often collabs in both music and dramas, and you see that a lot in during 2nd-gen K-Pop {I can't speak for others as I was mainly active during that gen and kind of stepped back on it after high school, then came back once I heard the passing of Jonghyun (RIP) from SHINee, a group also under SM, and then almost 2 years later, Sulli (RIP) and one of her besties, Goo Hara (RIP), from the girl group KARA passed :( }. Since F(X) and SNSD were both in SM, they did have some interactions between the groups. F(X) did their own cover of an SNSD song called "Chocolate Love." Krystal and Jessica have performed live together on stage. They also did a collab song called "Butterfly" for the K-drama To The Beautiful You (which Sulli played the main character of, alongside SHINee member, Minho). You see SNSD, F(X), and SHINee members doing songs on that drama's OST which play throughout the show. There is another F(X) & SNSD collab song in it called "It's Me", a very cute song that highlights the sweetness of Luna's {the member of F(x) whose outfit you mentioned you liked} & Sunny's voices. Other f(x) songs to check out are "NU ABO" (their debut song), "Chu", "Red Light", and their last few songs, "4walls" and "All Mine" which were when they were 4 after Sulli left to pursue her acting. Their comeback stage on MNET for 4walls is a great performance to watch. F(x) kind of went on a hiatus after "All Mine" was released, then when their contracts came up in Sept 2019, none of the girls chose to renew their contracts with SM. Coming back to K-Pop after the passings of these three idols, not only was I grieving their passing, but also to the endings of many of the 2nd-gen groups I loved. "All Mine", to me, already had a nostalgic air to it, but now it is in the truest way, nostalgic.

Their debut song La Cha Ta is one of my favourite girl group debuts ever. Fashion and sass-wise, Nu ABO was ICONIC. And Red Light is one of the more recentish, darker concepts that I remember causing quite a few illuminati conspiracies. XD Which is always fun to hear about.
If you're looking to kick it old school SS501 is a throwback. They were around from 2005-2010 and weren't from one of the "big 3" agencies (SM, JYP, YG). "Love Like This" has major NSYNC/Backstreet Boys vibes if you're looking for a real time capsule. Truely the essence of 2000's kpop.
F(x) was SNSD little sister group, just like Red Velvet. Taeyeon and Tiffany literally raised Sulli (the member who is no longer with us) since they lived in the same dorm since Sulli was basically a baby (idk her age but she was very little when she moved to the SM dorms)

f(x) was always the more experimental SM group, that was their main purpose. They were labelled as more of a dance group as well, although their vocals with Luna and Krystal were really great too. So, no they were not branded as SNSD's sister group or anything of the like. Sadly, they were always so underrated and badly treated by SM, so much so that they never got an official fandom name until like years later...
Never got a lightstick, never got a tour, their first "solo" concert had to be shared with EXO, SM poorly handled Sulli's dating controversy and cut Red Light promotions short, WHICH SHOULD'VE BEEN THEIR GREATEST COMEBACK, and then rushed Red Velvet's debut to try and distract from all the mess which undeservedly got a lot of hate thrown at Red Velvet from very upset f(x) fans.

Yes! And SHINee really did treat them like kid sisters. Which makes it a bit sadder that we lost someone from both groups. There was a very touching scene I remember. After Sulli had left the group f(x) came back with 4 Walls and they got their first win for that song on a Show that SHINee's Key was hosting and the members just fell apart because they didn't expect to win and Key had to hold and comfort Luna who was crying so hard... 🥺

Amber always has short hair and the androgynous look. That's the real her and not like a style force on her by the company or anything. Actually, she was scouted by the SM founder himself because of how she looked (she was apparently "just standing there" at a Korean festival in LA). And she really did turn heads in the industry. Because in a world where the girls were expected to look girly, cute or sexy, she stood out. Amber is a pretty chill and outspoken person. She's an icon :)
I’m actually surprised they purposely scouted for someone with her style. I always assumed that it was her personal style and they decided to take a chance on letting her present like herself because they wanted her talent for the group or something. I imagine there was / still is prejudice against being gender nonconforming in the K-pop industry. My friend showed me Electric Shock back in the day and we were both surprised and I feel like I’ve never really seen that in K-pop since?

random trivia: Krystal was supposed to be in SNSD instead of her sister Jessica but she wasn't old enough at the time so Jessica joined instead.
It wasn’t really that she was supposed to be in SNSD, it was just that they wanted her to come train but she was too young. Krystal was not in the line up of SNSD ever. Jessica trained under SM for 7 years before SNSD debuted.
Krystal wasn't supposed to be in SNSD. More like SM wanted to cast her into the company but she was so young so they casted Jessica into SM instead. And that was back in 2000, no plan for SNSD at that time. Not until at least 2005 when SJ debuted that they had planning for SNSD. And in all the predebut and training for SNSD group from then on, Jessica was always there together with the rest of SNSD (also with Stella, Soyeon, Chanmi, ...). And SNSD debuted in 2007 which was such long time since 2000 so yeah, Krystal was never supposed to be in SNSD. But maybe if not for her, SM wouldn't be able to find out Jessica. Also Krystal is the perfect fit for f(x) 😊

as many have mentioned, f(x) was just the group sm never really focused and pushed in promoting as much as they did w/ their boy grps and snsd. they are amazingly talented, experimental, and shinee's sister group. till this day, their 3 full length albums are god tier among kpop albums. cliche but ahead of their time i think.
also the more you listen to red velvet, the more you'll hear a bit of f(x)'s sound in their music. ofc music producers worked w/ both but the sound can sometimes be similar and i love it.

However another factoid which may not have been brought up as much is that they both recorded a song called 'Chocolate Love'. Their versions are different enough, it's not the exact same song just with different vocals. It might be worth doing a video to react to both of them together? It's been a WHILE since I've watched the F(x) version but I do remember really enjoying the vocals on the SNSD version.

F(x) was literally one of the most trendsetter groups. A LOT of groups today are heavilly based on this "girlcrush", experimental and mixing concepts that they kinda pulled off first. But still, no one is like them and still very unique, so it's worth to watch their other stuff. Btw their were meant to be a a kind of SNSD constrast at the time, kinda like their punk/cool little sisters.

I like how f(x) and SHINee are not too public-friendly. Honestly, public-friendly songs have typical lyrics about love. Breaking up, missing someone, loving, liking, fluttering, and etc. Public-friendly songs are still good but f(x) and SHINee portray love in their unique style.

f(x) and Girls' Generation were label mates. f(x) was intended to be more unconventional. In 2009, both groups were hired to promote the new (at the time) LG New Chocolate Black Label phone with the song "Chocolate Love", each with their own version. The beginning of either music video is a transition from the other group. I wonder which version you would like better.
luna (dark hair that you liked most) is one of the best vocalists in kpop history
f(x) was moreso marketed as like SHINee's little sisters bc they both broke through with the experimental sounds, concepts and fashion. They did get briefly marketed as like the "dark" SNSD for the phone commerical song both groups did called "Chocolate Love" (also worth a watch/listen bc of the group differences). Their Pink Tape album was ranked within Billboard's top albums of the decade bc it's just so iconic. It was just so unfortunate that despite being from one of The Big 3, they never fully exploded in popularity/opportunities like they should have. Their B-side tracks were always sooo different and so good, really showing off their versatility.
A year late, but thought I'd throw this in!
SHINee and f(x) were actually both experimental groups made by SM and they were only supposed to promote for a year or so. Both of them ended up unexpectedly successful and so they ended up continuing their careers. The 'experimental' theme definitely became a character trait for both groups; they have tried and pulled off so many concepts. They also promoted together a lot so the f(x) and SHINee members are very close :) So if anything, I'd say SHINee and f(x) were more sibling groups than anything.
Unfortunately SM really dropped the bag with f(x) and let them gather dust with little to no explanation.

Thank you for reacting to f(x)! They're not considered a sister group to snsd but shinee actually! Sm groups work in brother-sister formations (suju with snsd, fx with shinee, exo with rv, and I think nct is the outlier here because I expect aespa will be the sister group of the smnbg).
The girl whose voice and style you liked in electric shock was luna the main vocal. Lsm himself has called luna the best vocalist in sm which is saying something considering sm has taeyeon and wendy under them. Unfortunately I don't always think group songs show the extent of her skill because fx was always considered a performance based group with very edm style music (I love their discography though, imo it's one of the best in kpop).
My biases in the group are krystal (one of the biggest it girls in kpop who gives off ice princess vibes like her older sister) and Victoria (the elegant dancer leader who has built a huge name for herself in china). I call krystal one of the biggest it girls in kpop because she has set so many trends it's unbelievable. I think one of the biggest is the tennis skirt trend which was popularised in rppp era which we still see on female idols today. She also has tons female idol fans (ironically I kinda see her as the female equivalent of Kai's idol of idols nickname, in that they both are looked up to by idols everywhere).

One thing to note in K-Pop is that there are often collabs in both music and dramas, and you see that a lot in during 2nd-gen K-Pop {I can't speak for others as I was mainly active during that gen and kind of stepped back on it after high school, then came back once I heard the passing of Jonghyun (RIP) from SHINee, a group also under SM, and then almost 2 years later, Sulli (RIP) and one of her besties, Goo Hara (RIP), from the girl group KARA passed :( }.
Since F(X) and SNSD were both in SM, they did have some interactions between the groups. F(X) did their own cover of an SNSD song called "Chocolate Love." Krystal and Jessica have performed live together on stage. They also did a collab song called "Butterfly" for the K-drama To The Beautiful You (which Sulli played the main character of, alongside SHINee member, Minho). You see SNSD, F(X), and SHINee members doing songs on that drama's OST which play throughout the show. There is another F(X) & SNSD collab song in it called "It's Me", a very cute song that highlights the sweetness of Luna's {the member of F(x) whose outfit you mentioned you liked} & Sunny's voices.
Other f(x) songs to check out are "NU ABO" (their debut song), "Chu", "Red Light", and their last few songs, "4walls" and "All Mine" which were when they were 4 after Sulli left to pursue her acting. Their comeback stage on MNET for 4walls is a great performance to watch.
F(x) kind of went on a hiatus after "All Mine" was released, then when their contracts came up in Sept 2019, none of the girls chose to renew their contracts with SM.
Coming back to K-Pop after the passings of these three idols, not only was I grieving their passing, but also to the endings of many of the 2nd-gen groups I loved. "All Mine", to me, already had a nostalgic air to it, but now it is in the truest way, nostalgic.

Their debut song La Cha Ta is one of my favourite girl group debuts ever. Fashion and sass-wise, Nu ABO was ICONIC. And Red Light is one of the more recentish, darker concepts that I remember causing quite a few illuminati conspiracies. XD Which is always fun to hear about.
If you're looking to kick it old school SS501 is a throwback. They were around from 2005-2010 and weren't from one of the "big 3" agencies (SM, JYP, YG). "Love Like This" has major NSYNC/Backstreet Boys vibes if you're looking for a real time capsule. Truely the essence of 2000's kpop.
F(x) was SNSD little sister group, just like Red Velvet. Taeyeon and Tiffany literally raised Sulli (the member who is no longer with us) since they lived in the same dorm since Sulli was basically a baby (idk her age but she was very little when she moved to the SM dorms)

I always felt like f(x) walked so Red Velvet could run. It's not a knock, I feel SM and obvious circumstances got in the way of things for them. Loved their more experimental sounds!
