It's me, the comment below you. This song is universal. Every human has felt this in some way. I had a "grunge type" ( no offense at all) boyfriend )who heard didn't listen to any country and came in the house at the beginning, Sat on the edge of my chair and said "I have felt that hurt." We were already in our 40's but it made so much sense. Pure art.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

In high school back in like 2009-2011, one of my teachers played the country station on a radio in class all the time. When I heard this song, I asked him what the name of it was and he said he didn't know. It took me several years before I was able to remember more than just the sound of the melody and I searched red light country song and finally found it lol if you ever had a moment like this, you know how happy you get when you finally find a song that often plays in your head but you couldn't remember any lyrics

i have probably listened to this song ten times through. things you NEVER think will happen can happen in an instant and your life is changed forever. this song so vividly points out that "oh no" moment when your stomach drops and youre left holding the bag. i love it because i think we've all been there.
My "Red Light" moment came on July 17, 2003. It was the day my son died. Had to drive myself home in the obnoxiously bright sunlit streets of Philadelphia. Everyone around me was enjoying a beautiful day while my world was "crashing down". Every little detail of that drive home is still horrifically vivid to me.
I'm terribly sorry for you. Makes you want to pull over and scream, "don't you people know what happened today!" But no use. I don't mean this terribly, life is made for the living. I feel for you, Sandra. I can't imagine….be well.

I remember hearing this song for the first time. It was the Sunday after school let out for summer. My girlfriend of 2 1/2 years and I broke up. It was a beautiful Indiana day, 75 degrees, I remember, sun shining, I got in my 1987 Z28 and me and a few friends went out to eat that afternoon to cheer me up. This song came on and it reminded me so much of her and we as soon as "At a red light" was said, I stopped at a red light and I broke down crying and had to pull over. This song along with the girl have a special place in my heart. We are still good friends but this song gets me emotional every time I listen to it.

I can't tell you that you won't die without her... All I can tell you is that things get better if you make it that long. I came within inches of driving my car into a tree going seventy but I wasn't strong enough to go through with it... Now I am married and have a daughter and I wouldn't trade my wife or my daughter for anything. I still think about her sometimes but I can finally be happy now. I hope you make it long enough to find happiness.

This song was playing on the radio when I was driving to the hospital as I was having my 5th miscarriage last year. Later I really listened to the lyrics and i felt like it was written for me. It was a beautiful sunny Sunday. I had to stop at one stop light and looked over and saw an old man and a mother playing with her baby. I love this song, but it breaks my heart a little every time I hear it.
I just found this song today. Thinking it was a new song I RUclips it only to find out its nearly 15 years old😳😳. But it made my day. It's sad and refreshing all wrapped up in 1

8 years since my divorce, and I still reference this song. My wife came back from Haiti and, on the same day at a red-light, said she wanted a divorce. Touches my soul to this day to hear this song 🎵 ❤️ God restored my heart, but I still think of my ex from time to time.

The cool thing about music is that every note and every word can be interpreted different depending on the individual....
To me it describes the complete devastation one feels when they are rejected by someone they love and trust and how people are just going on with life as normal, when my whole world was just torn apart. I remember when it happened to me....it was hard to believe that the world didn't stop. Everyone went on with life like nothing happened. Even my friends couldn't really understand the despair that I felt. Obviously, I realized that not everyone is going through what I was but the saddness grips you and it's all you can see in that moment. It is something that never leaves. I've gotten used to it but I'll never get over it....

No it doesn't. It sits in the moment of earth shattering disappointment and juxtaposes that with the callousness of the surrounding world to your personal struggle. There's no message of positivity. It just lives in that truth of being alive and human. That's why its a great song.
If it did what you said it would just be another breakup song. It's not that.

Realizing I have MS and won’t ever fully recover. I broke down at a red light and got it together when that light turned green. Don’t get me wrong. I still have absolute self loathing, miserable days. Thinking of the person I would have been. Without this terrible illness. I’ll always come back to this song. To anyone going through a hard time. I hear you. I understand. Don’t. Give. Up.

He will be in Fairmont, MN on August 18th at a county fair. It costs 7 bucks to get in the fair and the concert is included. It is at 8:30 P.M. The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band will be there on August 15th at 8:30 P.M. Same cost. I can not wait to hear them live. Hopefully it is a good concert!!! Last year the Band Perry played!

A friend of mine moved to Florida and he broke my heart. He moved over Spring Break and we ended drifting apart and I haven't spoken to him in 2 years. he was my best friend. It took a lot of courage to leave the campus without crying. He was the first to ever break my heart. I died a little bit that day. he never knew. I changed that day. I became more bitter and cold and I was mad at everything. It was a time that I am not particularly proud of. He called me one day and I ignored him. He left a message asking for Rebekah. I started to break down and cry. by then I was always called by my middle name, so I knew that it was him. I called back and we had nothing to talk about so we stopped talking to me and I haven't talked to him since. Anyway, sorry for all the grammar mistakes or spelling or anything like that. thank you for listening to this and I'm sorry for anything else as I can barely see because of tears. thanks again.

I love this song, because it takes two opposite events and pairs them together There's something so surreal - feeling like its not even happening - when your heart shatters and its the middle of a beautiful day when everyone else is just going about their daily lives and there you are just...broken
This literally happened to me today, we broke up on the way home from church....we didn't have a fight or anything, but still, it dawned on me later that it was just like this song, after I heard it for the first time last week. It amazes me.
I look back now as a 15 year old how sad this song is but when i was a baby and a toddler my mom would play this to get me to sleep part of a playlist that makes me feel safe to this day this song makes me feel safe and happy i guess i listen to it when i feel bad and im going through some shit now hitting my red light moments i guess so ive been listening to this at night befor bed every night to sleep. I realize that play list was full of truly sad and tragic songs but they make me feel nostalgic and safe. The great part of country music i guess

I absolutely love this song. While thankfully this situation has never happened to me, I can totally feel for the guy in the song. It feels so raw…so heart wrenching. That day, that moment seemed so normal, then the next thing he knows him and his girl are broken up. He is so caught off guard that it totally just breaks my heart.
