I have a rescue Braque Pyrenees here in Portugal, he was not wanted by the farmer as he was too sensitive to the sound of the guns and kept running off, he was then taken by a couple who loved him but when their baby arrived Sam kept barking at the strange gurgling sounds that babies make which woke the baby, mum and baby ended up very sleep deprived, so regrettably had to let Sam go. I adopted Sam about 8 months ago, we have about 1.2 hectares, so plenty of room for his circuit of the field excercising plus other walks by the reservoir, though strangley he is not a water lover at all. He has settled in and is a fantastic family member, we love him to bits and he never leaves my side.
We got a dog from a rescue over ten years ago. They said he was a GSP and he was about 2 years old, and we named him Dutch. Dutchie passed away nearly two years ago - estimated age 13 or 14. He was a great dog. And very calm - great nose, outstanding pointing techniques - although horrible fetcher, and forgot how to swim. I knew about GSP's in a general sense, but after Dutch passed I learned more about GSP's. And, then we got another GSP. However, I have come to the conclusion that Dutch was not a GSP, he was a Bracque Francais based on the color / markings of his coat, his head size, and temperment - but mostly temperment. He was really incredible, and I could tell lots of stories about him. I will never know for sure where he came from or what breed he was, but I do know he was an angel sent to me.
Looking at the French pointers both types it's quiet clear to see that this dog was used to create the German shorthaired pointer ,as it was in existence hundreds of years before the German shorthaired pointer, LIVING in IRELAND and a shooter for over 30 yrs I've never known of anyone who used these dogs ,That's not to say there probably not interested in promoting the dogs in other countries, Beautiful strong looking dogs too, A

Awesome! You are great for taking care of Sam.
@@Rocadog Training was a bit of a problem, we were a bit slow, but he has finally managed to train us to do what he wants😂

How to differentiate the german shorthaired pointer from the Braque francais? they look the same.
