The bad: Russ is like an unbalanced tyre at 200 MPH. The good: He is a humble player that will do as said, he is coachable. He is the type of guy who appreciates camaraderie, the Nuggets have one of the best if not the best team environment in the NBA, so he will probably work as a teammate, for the team, not as a star, for the glory.
I never was a Russ fan throughout his career, but I hope this opportunity works out for him. At first, i thought Russ was just trying to ring chase, but the nuggets genuinely want him on their team.

As a nuggets fan, this feels pointless, if we sign him on a minimum, I guess it doesn’t really matter, but the nuggets needed a backup big man and big 3&D wings going into the offseason, and that need became significantly bigger when KCP left. We got the backup big, we didn’t get 3&D wings and just got another non-shooting guard instead. Malone was saying last year against the Timberwolves that he couldn’t run Peyton Watson and Christian Braun together because of the spacing issues cause neither were real knockdown threats from 3, Now Malone needs to figure out how to space those 2 and Russ in the postseason this year, and realistically, it’s just gonna end with 1 of the 3 not playing in the postseason.

I’d love to be proven wrong and see that he could play as a utility 2 and be primarily a defensive weapon but I think he’s proven over time that he needs to be have the ball in his hands to be his best self and if he starts I see that disrupting the offensive chemistry badly. Also I could see his lack of perimeter shooting consistency wrecking the spacing for Jokic inside and Jamal to operate his drives esp with AG on the floor as well.

This is perfect if they use Westbrook as a cutter with Jokic handing it off to him. Doesn’t have that 3 point shot like kcp, but his finishing ability and threat at the rim and passing. Say he cuts and the look is not there pass it off to AG waiting baseline for the jam. Boom pretty good fit
The bad: Russ is like an unbalanced tyre at 200 MPH.
The good: He is a humble player that will do as said, he is coachable.
He is the type of guy who appreciates camaraderie, the Nuggets have one of the best if not the best team environment in the NBA, so he will probably work as a teammate, for the team, not as a star, for the glory.
The worst thing Denver has done is switch up the team after they won the championship.. now they lost even more of a key player, KCP.

I never was a Russ fan throughout his career, but I hope this opportunity works out for him. At first, i thought Russ was just trying to ring chase, but the nuggets genuinely want him on their team.
They never thought MPJ was the next Kevin Durant. His limitations were clear by then, but he was too good to not max him. We signed him to win a championship.
As a nuggets fan, this feels pointless, if we sign him on a minimum, I guess it doesn’t really matter, but the nuggets needed a backup big man and big 3&D wings going into the offseason, and that need became significantly bigger when KCP left. We got the backup big, we didn’t get 3&D wings and just got another non-shooting guard instead.
Malone was saying last year against the Timberwolves that he couldn’t run Peyton Watson and Christian Braun together because of the spacing issues cause neither were real knockdown threats from 3, Now Malone needs to figure out how to space those 2 and Russ in the postseason this year, and realistically, it’s just gonna end with 1 of the 3 not playing in the postseason.
Denver moves the ball so much I don't think Westbrook will really fit in the offense there
As a Nuggets Fan I’m very happy with this. 1 for the fact all we have done was lose KCP and Reggie Jackson and gain Dario Saric. And 2 Westbrook and Jokic to me seems like they could work well together. 2 good playmakers. This is an interesting Nuggets Team tbh

As a nuggets fan, I think Russ could be good (and an upgrade over Reggie Jackson) as the bench PG but if Mike Malone tries to start him I think it’ll be disastrous. Russ needs to lead his own unit.
I’d love to be proven wrong and see that he could play as a utility 2 and be primarily a defensive weapon but I think he’s proven over time that he needs to be have the ball in his hands to be his best self and if he starts I see that disrupting the offensive chemistry badly.
Also I could see his lack of perimeter shooting consistency wrecking the spacing for Jokic inside and Jamal to operate his drives esp with AG on the floor as well.

Yes, the nuggets are “replacing” kcp with russ. But kcp was leaving either way. Russ is a player who can bring enormous value off of the bench and a good bit of depth. Good signing considering the circumstances.
