Hi all! I've been meaning to update this comment for awhile now. I'm sure many of you are wondering if this method still works. Sadly no, this no longer works. Back when I made this video in 2021, this was a legit method to still buy the game. However, a few months ago this alternate method got fixed. You can still use this method to purchase the DLC content for L4D2, just not the base game. In addition to that, Microsoft announced that they are shutting down the Xbox 360 marketplace July 29th of 2024. So once that day comes, you can no longer buy any L4D2 content digitally. Also, thank you to everyone who helped me reach 100K views and 2K+ likes for this first time on a video of mine. I'm forever grateful! :D

@@Stabbies572 I went to the Microsoft store on my phone, not the xbox store, signed in with my xbox account and looked up L4D 1 and 2 and they both were available for 19.99 each. Dlc was also available for 6.99 each. Once I purchased it, I went on to my xbox and into my games and apps and they were there.
I've been playing the game on PC again and I'm really happy seeing how active it still is on there. I got a disc for the Xbox 360 basically free recently and I'm gonna get my old 360 from my dad's and see how active the Xbox is. Really happy to see people still enjoying the game on both platforms :)
THANK YOU. Been waiting years to play it again. What a pain. On the phone, for samsung galaxy, i had to click top right of chrome and select desktop version of site. After this, i was finally able to purchase the game. Didnt show up on my ready to install list, I had to search the game on marketplace and it allowed me to install it on xbox series x. Plays fine.
Did it on my phone too and I used the Microsoft app to send it to my Xbox. The whole process is tricky for no reason. It's not like they are giving it away for free lol.
@@connora9 If you are on mobile device, on Android/samsung you can click the setting button in top right and switch it to desktop site. I had to do it that way or else it did the loading screen too.
Still works as of Nov 12, '21. For a child account though you will probably need to jump through several more hoops and once all is done, probably jump back through several to set things back the way you want them to be. 1st: On XB1; parental controls; disable all, set content to unrestricted. Fire up that old 360 console that barely runs, again disable parental controls and/or enable premium content (settings/privacy) and THEN on the child account you want this on, make the purchase. After, set all privacy controls back the way you prefer.
Aw man that's ace! I gave up trying to do this. I wanted to show my teenage sons how brilliant this game was and was ready to call it quits until I found this video. Thanks
Sadly this does not work anymore. In 2023 we only have the "Try Demo" button and nothing else on the left there. Time to search for a used disk copy I guess.
@@DerErzfreund Yes, it does work. I bought one a month ago. It downloads the game on the drive and requires the disc to play it. I think it's also possible to pay for the DLCs once you got it installed but I have not tried to buy them yet myself. I just played the base game for now.

@@MarkJones-fu5kb You need to have just one payment card linked with your Xbox account, you need to log in on the Xbox 360 Marketplace on your PC with the same account you have on your Xbox, and buy it on the store from your region (like the US with $), also don't buy from Smartphone, don't use gift cards and don't use Maestro card, either Credit card, debit card, Visa or PayPal. When you buy it, it should appear in your Xbox ready to install library, or "Owned games", and you can install it trough there.

I own the digital copy of Left 4 Dead 2 since 2017. Never had problems having bought it on Microsoft's website. And I also bought all the DLCs a month ago, so I assure you there are no problems

@@psyxokat There might be a way to extract the files from the disc, store them on an XBox formatted drive, then transfer to in-console hard drive... this is the route I'm going to try and figure out how to do and see if it works

@@DogCheese420 if you or a family member or friend has an xbox 360 sign into you microsoft account through there and then buy l4d2. This works with l4d1 and the dlcs. If you don't have enough storage use a flashdrive like I did.
I got the Xbox live card, I didn't know you needed a card, all I need to do is get the maps, I'm mostly excited for the Passing, because we get to use the Golf stick, I love it.

You could try clearing your pc cache and see if that works. Your pc might be trying to use old save info from your web browsers and clearing it might fix it
For everyone that has tried and tried without success you need to do it on the xbox in microsoft edge it works only there for me! Ive tried on the phone and the pc without no succes, only worked on the xbox!!!

For anyone still having issues getting the digital version the only way I could get it to work was to purchase a used 360 second hand and purchase the game on the 360 store. It will then automatically appear in your game library on your series s or x. I tried every method possible to buying it through the website to no avail. If you’re still struggling and can’t get a physical copy. Buying or borrowing a 360 may be your only option.
@@alexvazquez2816 Glad I could help. I dropped $40 on a 360 from an online seller and then bought left 4 dead 2 and the Orange Box. I now have no need for the 360. Might just pawn it and recoup some of what I paid.
I know the solution I watch the tutorial because I bought Coldstream go to manage games and you got to manage l4d2 then you go to your add-ons and then you click on it and it should say ready to install
Just watched this video, within 3 minutes from pressing purchase and then restarting my console, I went to my full library and there it was and it’s downloading right now. It’s that quick and easy. Thank you!
@@T.C.A_Content I don’t have a mic, but what I did was go to Microsoft edge from the Xbox instead of a laptop. Go to the Xbox store through Microsoft edge, there’s a couple of similar links to left 4 dead 2 and it’s add one but you want to find the one that lets buy it for $20. After you give it your card information and confirm purchase, check your bank or email to see that it’s confirmed and then turn off your Xbox and or restart your Xbox. Wait about 5 minutes. Turn it on, log in, check your game library and it should be there. When you buy the dlc you don’t have to turn it off to redeem the dlc. That’s basically what I did step by step and it worked. Took me 3 minutes tops.
Thank you friend! As for the dlc not loading I believe that is intentional. I too have to pay for the dlc again if I'm on my Xbox One or Xbox Series X even though I bought the dlc on Xbox 360. Are you using the same Microsoft account you bought the dlc with?

Have you figured out how to install “the sacrifice dlc”? I have it bought but when I go to manage games it says it doesn’t need to be installed but in the game it says I need to install it and there is no way to do so on my series x. Has anyone figured this out?
@@blackninja797 I’ll try it from the pc. Because on the Xbox it just says it doesn’t need to be install but in game it says it does need to be installed.
You can download them directly from the Xbox 360 menu inside the game, or just click start on the game go to "Manage Game and add on" and you'll see the DLCs, buy them and then you own them.
Maybe they want people to buy back 4 blood instead of left 4 dead, i dont actually think this is an error because if it was i am pretty sure microsoft would have already fix the issue

Yeah the game has been giving everyone different types of problems and sadly it's a 50/50 if the solutions I recommend fix the problems because of that very reason. One more thing I can recommend is removing your card info and then putting it back or putting in a new card. Hope that helps.
Oh if you bought them you have to go to manager games and then you gotta go manage left for dead two and then you got a go to add-ons and then there should be some ready to install if you bought it

Seems like whenever I try to go and purchase, I’m blocked in every way. Gotten as far as purchasing but I get a message stating my payment method is invalid (which it isn’t) and get a whole slew of runtime errors no matter the device I’m on. What gives?
Just go onto a 360, sign in, turn it on, go to the store & buy the game, I just launched it on my Xbox series s, so I’m not lying, if you want the game digitally that’s the way to go
Hi there. Unfortunately, this method no longer works. This video was created in 2021 and use to work then. You can only use this method to buy the dlc content.
Any idea how to buy DLC?? i’ve had the game for a few years now with most DLC but i forgot to purchase the passing, ive been trying to buy it on the xbox website and it says” your purchase cannot be completed at this time, please try again”. Very weird and frustrating tbh.
Some people have this method work and some do not. Unfortunately I can't explain why it does this but I do have an idea. Another subscriber tolled me that they removed thier old payment method and re added it or use a new one and it worked. So perhaps try that and see what happens
I've successfully done it and am installing it. My question is though, does the online/multiplayer still work? 🤔😬 Also, for whatever reason it *only* works through the American website. It just wouldn't let me buy on the Swedish website which is so strange. edit: Yes, online/multiplayer still works for *anyone* else wondering. Anyways, it seemed to work better with Microsoft Edge and i just kept refreshing the website until it showed my credit card info and then press ''accept'', and if i got a ''system error'' then i'd just keep trying by refreshing the website until i came to the same screen showing my credit card info until i eventually came to the ''verify purchase'' screen, which is most likely waaaay different depending on whatever country you're from.

Tried it today and it worked 🙌🏼 but make sure to download it on a laptop I did it on my MacBook and turned ad blockers off in the safari settings, heads up on my phone it didn’t work so trying it on a computer may be a better route, after bought it it showed on my Xbox series s on my games and apps full library

@@blackninja797 It is the opposite, it is enchanted but with no FPS boost, but Microsoft has a technology to boost the FPS on older games without the help of the original devs, so if you go to the Xbox website and demand in high numbers the FPS boost for L4D2 and 1 Microsoft will probably boost it.
It's hard to explain friend. Since this is an unofficial workaround for something that should just work, some people can do everything perfectly and not buy the game. I can recommend some additional things you can try to see if it will help. Try using a different web browser, credit card, Microsoft account, clear your pc catch, purchase the game from another device or use a VPN. One of these methods should fix the problem since they have for some of my other subscribers. It should be in your games and apps buy trying also trying in the game name on the store. I hope this helps

July 2022, doesn't work for me.. Help! I tried on Safari, on Chrome and on Edge, allowed cookies and allowed pop ups, changed Microsoft website region to USA, changed Xbox Series X region to USA, with or without VPN to USA, with one payment method (Mastercard or PayPal or VISA), I am still frozen at payment confirmation with infinite green loading circle.. I am not USA based. Any idea?

You could try clearing your pc cache and see if that works. Your pc might be trying to use old save info from your web browsers and clearing it might fix it

For anyone still having issues getting the digital version the only way I could get it to work was to purchase a used 360 second hand and purchase the game on the 360 store. It will then automatically appear in your game library on your series s or x. I tried every method possible to buying it through the website to no avail. If you’re still struggling and can’t get a physical copy. Buying or borrowing a 360 may be your only option.
Ima try that rn cause my brother still has his old Xbox and I just tried to go on the website and it didn’t work so hopefully this does !

@@T.C.A_Content I don’t have a mic, but what I did was go to Microsoft edge from the Xbox instead of a laptop. Go to the Xbox store through Microsoft edge, there’s a couple of similar links to left 4 dead 2 and it’s add one but you want to find the one that lets buy it for $20. After you give it your card information and confirm purchase, check your bank or email to see that it’s confirmed and then turn off your Xbox and or restart your Xbox. Wait about 5 minutes. Turn it on, log in, check your game library and it should be there. When you buy the dlc you don’t have to turn it off to redeem the dlc. That’s basically what I did step by step and it worked. Took me 3 minutes tops.

Thank you friend! As for the dlc not loading I believe that is intentional. I too have to pay for the dlc again if I'm on my Xbox One or Xbox Series X even though I bought the dlc on Xbox 360. Are you using the same Microsoft account you bought the dlc with?

Have you figured out how to install “the sacrifice dlc”? I have it bought but when I go to manage games it says it doesn’t need to be installed but in the game it says I need to install it and there is no way to do so on my series x. Has anyone figured this out?
You might need to still install it. Sounds like your Xbox is confused. Try installing the dlc from your Microsoft account on your pc to the cloud

Me and my dad tried doing this method yesterday and it didn’t work I couldn’t confirm the purchase and even if it did I still have fear that it may not transfer to my Xbox/downloading
If your purchase went through you own it, it's just you have to install it to your console from your ready to install

At this point I got the disc and I recommend you get the disc too.

I have the disc for Left 4 dead 2, but I don't have any of the DLCs. I've been trying to get them on Microsoft, but it says something about a glitch in the system.
Yeah the game has been giving everyone different types of problems and sadly it's a 50/50 if the solutions I recommend fix the problems because of that very reason. One more thing I can recommend is removing your card info and then putting it back or putting in a new card. Hope that helps.
Oh if you bought them you have to go to manager games and then you gotta go manage left for dead two and then you got a go to add-ons and then there should be some ready to install if you bought it

Seems like whenever I try to go and purchase, I’m blocked in every way. Gotten as far as purchasing but I get a message stating my payment method is invalid (which it isn’t) and get a whole slew of runtime errors no matter the device I’m on. What gives?

Just go onto a 360, sign in, turn it on, go to the store & buy the game, I just launched it on my Xbox series s, so I’m not lying, if you want the game digitally that’s the way to go

Any idea how to buy DLC?? i’ve had the game for a few years now with most DLC but i forgot to purchase the passing, ive been trying to buy it on the xbox website and it says” your purchase cannot be completed at this time, please try again”. Very weird and frustrating tbh.
Some people have this method work and some do not. Unfortunately I can't explain why it does this but I do have an idea. Another subscriber tolled me that they removed thier old payment method and re added it or use a new one and it worked. So perhaps try that and see what happens

Anyways, it seemed to work better with Microsoft Edge and i just kept refreshing the website until it showed my credit card info and then press ''accept'', and if i got a ''system error'' then i'd just keep trying by refreshing the website until i came to the same screen showing my credit card info until i eventually came to the ''verify purchase'' screen, which is most likely waaaay different depending on whatever country you're from.

Tried it today and it worked 🙌🏼 but make sure to download it on a laptop I did it on my MacBook and turned ad blockers off in the safari settings, heads up on my phone it didn’t work so trying it on a computer may be a better route, after bought it it showed on my Xbox series s on my games and apps full library

On average on Steam it's like 1300 or 1400 players weekly at any given time. For Xbox I bet it's similar due to the fact it's backwards compatible now

Not enhance but I believe hit has higher frame rate.
@@blackninja797 It is the opposite, it is enchanted but with no FPS boost, but Microsoft has a technology to boost the FPS on older games without the help of the original devs, so if you go to the Xbox website and demand in high numbers the FPS boost for L4D2 and 1 Microsoft will probably boost it.

Just when I thought I had it. When buying it Via the website, it tells me "this cannot be purchased, try again later"
It's hard to explain friend. Since this is an unofficial workaround for something that should just work, some people can do everything perfectly and not buy the game. I can recommend some additional things you can try to see if it will help. Try using a different web browser, credit card, Microsoft account, clear your pc catch, purchase the game from another device or use a VPN. One of these methods should fix the problem since they have for some of my other subscribers. It should be in your games and apps buy trying also trying in the game name on the store. I hope this helps
