I'm more inclined to believe Honest Outlaw got a bad gun because a lot of people in his original video said they had a good experience with it. I got one at the beginning of the month and I've only had 1 failure to feed, which I'm pretty sure is just because it isn't broken in yet. Probably gonna make it my new carry gun in all honesty
10000+ rounds through my Makarov. Two failures to eject both from guys with huge hands I’ve never had any failures. It was an incredible gun back when it was $150. You’re right about it being outclassed by a million other guns at today’s prices.
Anyone buying a makarov (or any older surplus gun for that matter) then complaining that it is lacking compared to modern handguns 70 years later is completely missing the point of buying one. It's a piece of history to enjoy at the range.

So, the Concensus from other Gunsmiths is that the P09C's issue is due to screw length on the optics mount. @@karkelo88 and Sig is over priced with quality control cutting corners to maximize profit for them and delivering a lower quality product for the user. Bravo.
Your issue with the P09 Nocturne is screw length for the optic. The "right" hand screw is impinging on the extractor/extractor spring. It's bad installation and has nothing to do with "bad manufacturing". If you're using the holosun screws, take them out and swap them fir the CZ screws. There will be one that is slightly shorter, install that one on the extractor side, and I GUARANTEE your problems with the Nocturne will disappear.

there's a lot of manufacturing info that doesn't cross companies, and most companies do the classic 'race to the bottom' for manufacturing cost so things that should be good just arent
CZ’s problem seems to be the optics mounting screws being too long, with filing them a little fixing the problem entirely. Most of the other contenders just cut corners. I’m not sure about the DW though.
Thanks for another year of videos, I always like your reviews because you show malfunctions and problems and you are one of the few youtubers who isn't a total shill!
I haven’t had any problems out of my CZ P09C and I have a Holosun EPS mounted but I only have around 200 rounds through it. I did make sure and put short screws in it
I got one of the early P-09c models and had several failure to feed problems within the first 100 rounds. I sent it back to CZ and they didn't even try to fix it. They sent a replacement. I have not had 1 problem in 800 rounds now and I love that gun.
I bought a TX-22 Compact to have a steel-target gun for practice. Holosun green dot and new Tandemkross victory trigger and spring. The results are okay at shorter ranges because the mechanical accuracy of this pistol is worse than 20 MOA. In a vise, you can observe the slide [barrel] lurch leftward when the trigger breaks. Yikes. It must also be kept very clean for the slide lock-back to work reliably. And don't drop your mags into the dirt... I'm in correspondence with Taurus to see if they'll attempt a remedy on this admittedly inexpensive pistol.
Ive recovered two stolen th9’s in the past month. 😂 I talked to one of the owners when he finally got to claim it. “If I have to use it, they won’t take my 2011” fair enough.
I have the Taurus G3 and the Taurus tx22 and never had an issue with either.. I've put hundreds of rounds thru them and they shoot better than some of the expensive guns
Bought a M&P Sport III because of you. Thanks man. You rock. Happy new year to you and your folks. PS - Bubbas not the only left handed freak ‘round here!
Looks like they had issues running it without the optic as well from what I can see. Not sure if the damage was done already though with the longer screw.
I have a PSA 300 blk. It would not cycle subs even with a suppressor. I had to drill the gas port on the barrel a little bigger. Solved all my problems. Currently runs like a type writer.
@Reallifenewz never. I just investigated myself. Saw the gas port off the barrel was way to small. Grabbed a drill and opened it up. I forget the exact size but I used. Installed an adjustable gas block and now it cycles subs and supers and operates flawlessly. I have about 5k rounds through this PSA rifle and not one malfunction. Never failure to feed. Eject. Etc etc.
@@MichaelBattaglia-i6lyeah I have used a ton of other ammo in the fuse even other hollow points and didn’t have a single problem. I use right now an xmacro or my hellcat pro for carry purposes.

I really appreciate your honest reveiws of firearms. It's been very helpful to me in making purchases over the years. Sorry to hear that particular Specialist is having issues. It might be worth noting when sharing your experience that you picked up a used gun. The last year that model was made was 2018. The Specialist was reintroduced with several modifications in 2020. I wonder how the previous owner used it and maintained it? It might be contributing to the issues you're experiencing.
@HonestOutlawReviews The reason of the failures in the CZ nocturne is due to the optics screw going to far I to the slide, take of the optic and it should be fine and or shorter screws
Keep up the amazing work. Your channel is the reason why I have a Cz shadow 2 compact and why I put a staccato c2 on my credit card. I said screw it after watching your 1k and 2k round reviews and it was worth every penny.
Appreciate you chris and La Rae. Your guys videos and work have turned me into a confident buyer and shooter. Any critical step in that next purchase is checking out your thoughts and videos on it! Can’t wait on 2025!
I bought a Taurus TH40, and, believe it or not, have not had one failure with it. I can't say that about other Taurus's that I own. I don't trust it enough to carry it EDC, but like I said, over 1000 rounds, and not one failure. Take that any way you want.
I don’t own any guns I don’t trust for edc. If I don’t think it’s good enough to carry, then I sell it immediately and grab something else to start testing.
I have a PT111 millennium, the series before the G2. I had 2 ftf in the first 100 rounds with PMC bronze ammo. I now have 750+ rounds through it with American Eagle, CCI blazer brass, and Freedom Munitions reman ammo. Not a single malfunction with any of those ammo types. Taurus can be hit or miss, but I've had good luck with mine.
As always, I really appreciate your reviews. I own a Taurus TH9 and had a very disappointing break in period (almost sold it). As a last ditch effort to save it, I changed ammo and polished the ramp. Admittedly, I didn’t think it would help but I now have more than 1000 rounds through it without any further issues. Maybe a combination of break-in, ammo and polishing the ramp fixed the problem. At least, I hope so! I’m enjoying the TH9.
I hope you’ll at some point give the Nocturne another shot. I’m not an expert gunsmith but it seems almost certain that the malfunctions you were having were related to the optic mounting process. I know people are saying it was still having problems without the optic but that’s likely because the damage was already done with the screw driving into the extractor during cycling.
Always enjoy watching. It's a new year and new guns will keep coming at us. I don't know if others are like me in that I don't buy a new gun every month, or even every year. More specifically, I don't buy handguns every month but may buy one, during the year, but most likely will not. I DO buy long guns. I daydream of buying one a month, but I am lucky to get two in a year. For my first buy of 2025, I'm completing my SCAR series with an FDE 15P in 300bo and then waiting for the tax stamp while it plays pistol. Happy New Year to you and yours.

I’ve shot about 500 rds thru my P09c. Not a single malfunction. I think Chris really needs to double check the screws on the optic and make sure it’s not binding on the extractor. Specifically the right screw. Chris really needs to give this gun a second chance.
When I started buying pistols I couldn't beleve how easy it is to get a bad one, or how many new platforms are abject failures. This just wasn't a problem I experienced with hunting rifles and shotguns (this was before turkish shotguns were a thing.)
Please do a review of the Tisas DS9, its another double stack 2011 but it's about $700-800. Ive put about 400 round through mine without a malfunction. Love your videos man.
Tisas B9R DS 9mm in Duty or Carry. I got the Carry and LOVE it! My first ever 2011 style gun. Over sprung, but that was a cheap fix. Paid $499 BlackFriday special!
Glad that nothing in my safe is on this list. 😬 Came close with the Dan Wesson, but got a Kimber. Got well over 1000 rounds through it and no issues with multiple types of ammo. Thank you for all you do for us.
@@spazmaticaa7989 The issue is known, his right optic mounting screw is too long and interferes with the extractor. Other youtubers have covered and demonstrated this.

At 3:35 u can clearly see the Nocturne malfunctioning without an optic.. The Nocturne is just like the Fuse, the initial release was a failure, however i believe CZ may have fixed the issues just like Sig fixed the issues with the fuse on the next batch
@Steve-ev6vx that's speculation.. And yall like the way that sounds so u are running with it.. If this was some bum Guntuber who doesn't know shit about guns i might believe it.. But u don't think HO is capable of figuring out if his extractor is damaged from an optic screw? I do..
Love your videos as always, always thorough in your gun testing. Would love for you to do the Springfield XDM or the Arex Zero tactical models. Keep up the great work
Everyone hates the Fuse, but long slide models are so much better to carry iwb appendix. I’ve carried short barrel guns for a while and the grip always tilts over my belt line. Long slides have much better leverage and they’re so much more comfortable to carry. I don’t understand the whole craze over the smallest possible gun for carry, I always carry full size.
I have 3 Makarovs and I don't think I've ever had a single malfunction. They're heavy with limited capacity, so I would never carry them, but they're cool. I have a couple of the Taurua G3s that have also been extremely reliable, but the $2-300 guns are definitely gonna be a crapshoot. It's always sad when a $1k plus gun sucks, and it sucks even worse when a manufacturer sends you a gun to try and it sucks.
Thats funny because my 1978 Bulgarian Makarov has become my favorite carry piece and I have ALOT of handguns to choose from at home, it doesn't make any sense but it's my most comfortable gun to carry, maybe because of how rounded off everything is on the gun, also, mine has not had any malfunctions ever either

I got one of the early P-09c models and had several failure to feed problems within the first 100 rounds. I sent it back to CZ and they didn't even try to fix it. They sent a replacement. I have not had 1 problem in 800 rounds now and I love that gun.
Happy New Year and thanks for the content!!!!
Love your reviews bro...Happy New Year's from your Illinois neighbors.🎉
Happy New year to you and your wife thanks for all the great content and may the new year bring you prosperity and happiness
Happy New Year from Calgary!
Just wanted to say congratulations on your success. I've definitely gained knowledge through your videos. Happy New Year to you and yours.
Happy New Year to you, and your family! I love your videos, and never miss them. Thanks for all you do!
Hate to hear that about a CZ product. Been a fan of their CZ-75 and P-10C for a long time
Love the channel, I really appreciate you’re reasonable approach to firearms and honest (lol) information you give us
I bought a TX-22 Compact to have a steel-target gun for practice.
Describing the TH9 as an evidence locker gun is probably the most painfully accurate description I’ve ever heard.
Ive recovered two stolen th9’s in the past month. 😂 I talked to one of the owners when he finally got to claim it. “If I have to use it, they won’t take my 2011” fair enough.
My gunsmith won't work on anything made by Taurus or its subsidiaries. He wont even stipple them or change the sights.
@@keithangstadt4950What a clown. Taurus has plenty of good guns for thier price point. The idea someone wont work on one is comical. What a weirdo.
@@keithangstadt4950 so what?
@@keithangstadt4950 every Taurus I own has run flawlessly….TH9, G2C, G3 and PT92…..flawlessly.
Thanks for your honesty alot of us wait for a review before a purchase
I have the Taurus G3 and the Taurus tx22 and never had an issue with either.. I've put hundreds of rounds thru them and they shoot better than some of the expensive guns
You are always helpful, have a great year ❤
“It’s more of a police evidence locker kind of gun”
I’m glad I didn’t get that gun
Bought a M&P Sport III because of you. Thanks man. You rock. Happy new year to you and your folks.
PS - Bubbas not the only left handed freak ‘round here!
Check your extractor on that CZ. I bet the screw used on that optic was too long on the extractor side.
I am willing to bet he did
He was shooting it with no optic right in the footage lol
Looks like they had issues running it without the optic as well from what I can see. Not sure if the damage was done already though with the longer screw.
You aren’t wrong. Thats why I said check the extractor. If the screw was too long, it may have already damaged the extractor.
why would a damaged extractor cause failure to feed though
Happy New Year Chris!!! I love your reviews, respect your opinion and can't wait for 2025.
My Taurus TH9 has run flawlessly for about 1000 rds so far.
I appreciate the advice and how he is very direct about his experience with the product-handling hands-on.
I have never had a single issue with DW specialist, of any kind.
Happy New Year to you and the Mrs.
I have a PSA 300 blk. It would not cycle subs even with a suppressor. I had to drill the gas port on the barrel a little bigger. Solved all my problems. Currently runs like a type writer.
Did you ever send it back to PSA?
@Reallifenewz never. I just investigated myself. Saw the gas port off the barrel was way to small. Grabbed a drill and opened it up. I forget the exact size but I used. Installed an adjustable gas block and now it cycles subs and supers and operates flawlessly. I have about 5k rounds through this PSA rifle and not one malfunction. Never failure to feed. Eject. Etc etc.
@@FriendsandFire Thank you for sharing. It does spread helpful hints.
Can’t wait to see what this channel brings in ‘25! I too had such high hopes for the Nocturne and was hoping it would work as an EDC.
Double singles just need to be sporting a metal frame. When they don't, it just doesn't feel right...
Happy New Year Outlaw! Keep the great videos coming!
My fuse is now my home defense gun! The only ammo I had reliability issues with was the sig hollow points.
I've had zero malfunctions with my Fuse. Feels great in my hand as well. It's quickly become my favorite pistol.
@@MichaelBattaglia-i6lyeah I have used a ton of other ammo in the fuse even other hollow points and didn’t have a single problem. I use right now an xmacro or my hellcat pro for carry purposes.
@@MichaelBattaglia-i6l same here the fuse feel great in my hand and points extremely well for me from the draw… After my first day at the range with my fuse, I sold my Glock 19 GEN 5 mos the next day… Target doesn’t lie.
Great content can’t wait to see what these companies come up with 2025
Trying the Nocturne trigger at the gun store was like opening a gift wrapped box of poo on Christmas.
It a unforgivable oversight that he hasn't corrected this. It was his screwup and he's blaming cz for it.
Hes shooting with no optic right in the footage lol
@@ArmedAndDadly333 I could be wrong but I don't think it malfunctioned without the optic
@@Jesse_Ziman he also mentioned that it didn't malfunction for him at all.
@@DarkPhoenixTSi bro that's the reason he put it in this list 😂
I love this channel and go to Brownells for everything too, LOL. Perk of Iowa life. As always you had me at “shit show”. Happy new year!
Let’s get Bubs Top 5 shitty and non shitty guns. He’s the real hero here (besides Mrs. Outlaw). Thanks Chris
Not really
Always enjoy watching. It's a new year and new guns will keep coming at us. I don't know if others are like me in that I don't buy a new gun every month, or even every year. More specifically, I don't buy handguns every month but may buy one, during the year, but most likely will not. I DO buy long guns. I daydream of buying one a month, but I am lucky to get two in a year. For my first buy of 2025, I'm completing my SCAR series with an FDE 15P in 300bo and then waiting for the tax stamp while it plays pistol. Happy New Year to you and yours.
"A legendary gun from the Ruskies"
hahahah. I havent heard the term "Ruskie" except in 1940's spy movies
Got to say, I found your channel by accident and so glad I did. Love your content and found myself searching and watching several. Wish yall was closer to NW Arkansas. Am now subscribed and looking forward to watching in the future. 👊😎
Damn and TFB had the CZ as one of top 5 guns of 2024...
Always informative, and no punches pulled.
I’ve shot about 500 rds thru my P09c. Not a single malfunction. I think Chris really needs to double check the screws on the optic and make sure it’s not binding on the extractor. Specifically the right screw. Chris really needs to give this gun a second chance.
That's the sort of thing I woukd say before I got into firearms 500 rounds is almost brand new
You think he didnt take the screws into account in his review?
@@Lawyerboyleslie72 Yes, we do think so, especially since he never mentioned it
Very helpful. Thank you. I hate guns that jam all the time. It just kills the momentum and is a danger in emergencies. Happy New Year to everyone!
Came close with the Dan Wesson, but got a Kimber.
Got well over 1000 rounds through it and no issues with multiple types of ammo.
Thank you for all you do for us.
It's funny to see the Nocturne simultaneously makes James Reeves best guns list, and HO's worst list
You’re a smart man to get a bigger sample size.
Yeah I think HO needs to revisit the P09C. Either figure out what his issue is/was or get it replaced.
I trust James more than H.O.
@@spazmaticaa7989 The issue is known, his right optic mounting screw is too long and interferes with the extractor. Other youtubers have covered and demonstrated this.
For anyone reading
Gotta clean the cosmoline out of your firing pin channel on the Makarov 😬 they’re free float and come packed with cosmoline usually.
Also always use surplus mags. The Bulgarian “new” mags are jam boxes
>website says to only use subsonics with a suppressor
>use subsonics without suppressor
>gun malfunctions

At 3:35 u can clearly see the Nocturne malfunctioning without an optic.. The Nocturne is just like the Fuse, the initial release was a failure, however i believe CZ may have fixed the issues just like Sig fixed the issues with the fuse on the next batch
The extractor may have already been damaged by the optic srew at that point.
@Steve-ev6vx that's speculation.. And yall like the way that sounds so u are running with it.. If this was some bum Guntuber who doesn't know shit about guns i might believe it.. But u don't think HO is capable of figuring out if his extractor is damaged from an optic screw? I do..
Thanks, Chris and Mrs. Outlaw
Sheesh! I came early; unfortunately it’s something I’m used to 😢
And I thank you for your awesome content 👍
Your channel is why I'm broke, and I love you for it. I can't wait to see what's to come.
Perhaps don't blindly follow him and his opinions. His channel fell off a cliff in the past couple of years. This video is another example of that.
I like the Fuse. I haven’t had any issues, and I can consistently hit a 10” gong at 100 yards.
Picking up an S&W 686 Deluxe 6in after watching a few of your videos. Also working on my beard game ha ha. Thanks man !!
Crazy slander on the Nocturne. My po9 Nocturne runs flawlessly
The wife was limpwristing it like crazy.
Love your channel! Please consider adding chapter markers in the timeline.
Thank you for all the fantastic content!
