I’ve been watching this build from day one Jonathan and even thou I’m older than dirt, you made this a real learning experience for me. Thanks for taking the time to produce this series of videos.
Me and my dad are electricians. He always told me you get ten electricians ina room to do the same thing. All will have a different way. And all with think there way is best. Great job so far.
Hi Jonathan, Excellent looking cowl installation. I know that it wasn't, but you made it look easy. The more videos I watch, the more I realize I can learn more. Waiting for the turboprop run video. That should be interesting. You and Katie stay safe.
Love your committed attention to the detailed explanations. After all, any project boils down to the sum of a lot of parts fitting together to create magic in the eye of the beholder. Thanks for your efforts man!
Change the socket head hex bolts on the cowling to button head hex bolts. Will look a whole lot better, and even more scale. The button heads are a rounded dome, just like full scale hardware. Beautiful job on the cowling!!!!!!!
Inexpensive pinking shears from a craft store for cutting fiberglass and carbon fiber. Minimizes the fuzzies that regular scissors leave. Kevlar you have to regrind Fiskar 9 inch scissors to a 90 degree edge with a 80 grit sanding belt. Take the screw out and act like you have done it before, it’s easy. Done hundreds and it works spiffy. And when glueing on a nonexpendable surface with epoxy, wax paper or plastic food wrap is your buddy. Hold it level with your magnets and Jane be yer auntie! Try diamond cutting discs for durable long lasting cutters.
Great video Jonathan. Fitting cowls is easy, fitting them neatly is an art form. Hope you find time to show your method of glassing when it comes to it.... 👍
Awesome video again! Thanks! Your content really gives inspiration and good tips for rc building. For future i would love to see more your work (timelapse for example) and less talk 😁 You could put a head strap to your camera or get another guy to take a footage.
Awesome videos. I've been jumping around through your playlists but I love PC-6s and turboprops so this one is really appealing to me! I just noticed your yellow railroad lantern. Is there a story behind it?
Bonjour Jonathan, je sais maintenant que tu parles Français ( you speak very fluently French now ). amezing work, as usual. Just a question : This kind of engine make a lot of warm, isn't it ? no probem for le front of fuselage near turbine ( fire risk ) ? HI from France
Thank you very much! The hottest part is the exhaust section. This is a very tight cowl fitting but the goal is to have airflow moving through the entire system while running. With the 1/4" gap between the spinner and cowl and the 1/4" gap between the exhaust and cowl there should be sufficient air movement to keep things cool. That is also the purpose of the large door on the cowl. So at shut down the door gets opened and you use a blower to keep air moving over the engine while cooling down. Thanks for watching!
Haha. I Hated school! I was thinking of becoming a millwright when I was younger but again. The school thing. Just good a critical thinking and problem solving i guess!😊

Great tips! Thank you for them and thanks for watching!
Looking GREAT Johnathan Put Thin CA on your dremel cutting discs Makes them stronger and not as prone to breaking Keith
Thanks Keith! That’s an awesome tip! Thanks for that!
Or use the diamond rimmed ones. Last a long time and are not as fragile.
Awesome episode ! Can't wait for the next
Thanks Thomas’s

Thanks Ian! The glassing will be an entire video so I will be quite detailed I think.
Very complex build Jonathon!! But you made fitting that cowl look easy, well done great video👍😄
Thanks Ian! 😊

Thanks Tuomas! I’ll try to incorporate more of that.

Thanks for watching! Good eye! That was given to me by a friend who works for the Rail!
Lot's of time and effort in this step but the result is awesome! Thanks for watching! Check out www.thelightersideofrc.com/
are you going to be fuel proofing the wood as well mate
Super Saturday to ya....great workmanship as always.... Just wondering what your hobby store of choice is here in the city..?
Thanks Chuck! My go to for supplies is Action Hobby or Model Land. PM is convenient as it's close to my office but their supply/stock is terrible.
I guess the left hand is for holding the camera only
Haha 😂
An out wall installation is way simpler and full access to boot no wood in the way.
👍😎

The next part I f the a-10
🙌😎
Instead of Covering... try Parchment paper, use it all the time for this purpose. You only have to fight the wife for the roll 😂
Awesome! Thanks for that Aaron!
Great work as usual Jon! If you don’t mind me asking, are you an engineer or just great at critical thing and problem solving ?
Haha. I Hated school! I was thinking of becoming a millwright when I was younger but again. The school thing. Just good a critical thinking and problem solving i guess!😊

Great job man keep building , how do you start the plane ,I’m a balsa electric guy ?
Thanks 😊 video of the turbine run will be out on Wednesday. It’s all automatic and controlled by the turboprop brain.
Is there any thrust angle built into the turbine gearbox?
No. the gearbox of the turbo prop is all straight and square.
Does wax paper work same for a non stick surface?
Yes wax paper is good.
The whole cowl should be carbon fiber
Yea that would be a nice touch on this plane for sure.
👽👍
😊🙌
Comon bro ...what's bent screwdrivers name
