How I rebuilt my health by doing less

  • In this video I discuss the shift I had to make with my identity and my relationship with my physical body on the road to regaining my health. In 2020 I came down with a mystery illness that completely tanked my physical and mental health. Through much trial and tribulation (and not much help from western medicine) I finally figured out that black mold in my condo was wreaking havoc on my entire system.
In this video I talk about starting at square one with movement again. From a history of 6 day a week strength workouts, my body had become so tight and full of toxicity that I stopped training altogether and just started to walk.
Walking became a huge part of my healing journey as it allowed my body to slowly begin to soften so I could get my life force flowing through my body again and the toxicity flowing out.
Anyone with mold, lyme, autoimmune issues, even stored trauma should assess if their body is capable of softening down or if it's in a chronically threatened state.

A lot of this resonated with me. But one I think that stuck out (and I’m not sure you intentionally meant for it to) was how you adapt now when things are not going to plan. I would argue that takes more strength than anything. Letting go of what you thought you were going to do on a whim, that’s tough. It’s an ego disruptor I imagine since you think you have control of what you do in life but you realize you don’t and just flow with it. Great story man keep it up!

That’s been a massive lesson the lest 4 years for me Garron. One of the kind you sort of have to re-learn every time a setback comes up.
It comes back to intention. If I workout with the intention to improve my functionality and I encounter an issue like I mentioned in the video where my issues come up and my core can’t turn on, then continuing the workout as planned takes me further from functionality and more into dysfunction.. so I have to course correct. Long winded comment sorry!
Really appreciate you watching these with such intent!

Hi! Thank you for sharing your story. I found this channel from your mold video. I’m recovering from mold exposure and it feels like nobody understands what I’m going through

Adriana! It is likely that not many around you do, which is exhausting because you either have to find a way to explain it to them OR you have to just fake that you’re doing ok. It sucks.
I’m glad you’re here and I’m available if you have questions about my experience dealing with certain aspects. My email is nate@gettingthere.com
