Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on RUclips, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on RUclips. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on RUclips, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.
This is a reaction video used to educate and give my feedback on the song and artists.

Kate Bush has a wonderful catalog of work. Her videos are gorgeous and thoughtful. She is a true artist. Everything said can also be applied to Mr. Gabriel. More please.

Great song. i like this two voices. I grew up with such great singers. Kate Bush has an amazing voice. Today, it is almost a threat to many when voices sound great.

Beautiful song! Both Kate and Peter’s vocals are exceptional (as always) on this track. I love the emotional connection of their voices together. I always look forward to Peter’s breaking into head voice (or falsetto it’s hard to tell) for a moment from time to time during his part. Never liked the ending at all and always thought it sounded like a lazy attempt to find an ending, but oh well. Great reaction!

Elton John is also featured on a beautiful song by Kate you should listen to called Snowed in at Wheeler Street.

Hi and thanks for a really enjoyable video. yes, this was the song and the Kate Bush vocals was the voice that Elton John said literally saved his life. Peter Gabriel has a tremendous body of work to explore. He is someone that Kate Bush has always been a great admirer of and they have worked together a few times. He had originally wanted Dolly Parton to sing the female part of the song, but when she (or her people) didn't respond he turned to Kate Bush and she delivered this timeless performance.
It's a really good song marked to performances from two outstanding performers. For me, his part always dominates the song as it should, since it was his song. But her vocal is perfectly tailored to it, right down to how her voices breaks and falls into a whisper as they cling to each other. It is a tremendous, and beautifully balanced piece of song wring by Peter Gabriel - when he sings it is predominantly in the singular and in the past tense, singing about 'me' and 'I' and all that I have lost, whereas when she sings it is in the plural and in the present tense - you have us, we don't need much etc. She is the collective voice of family and friends calling to the isolated person who feels utterly lost, and whose live has been eclipsed and thrown into darkness (as the background eclipse depicts).
To get an idea of just how talented Kate Bush really is you could turn any of her albums (throughout her career she has tired to make each new album sound completely different from every other of her albums [with the possible exception of her 2nd album]). On her third album she became co-producer and from then on she has assumed full production of all of her music. Her first album was the first million selling debut album by a female singer in which they wrote every song.
But to pick one song that displays everything that she brings you could do a lot worse than go to the official video of her song 'This Woman's Work' - she wrote, played on it, sings it, does the backing vocals, produced it and even story boarded and directed the video. One US journalist went so far as to describe her singing on it as a “bravura vocal performance from […] one of the greatest voices and songwriters of the last century.”
Brandon Flowers (The Killers), said of it:
“It’s one of the most powerful pieces of music that I’ve encountered, […] now that I’m older, it just sticks with me. It’s perfect […] It just affects me.”

There's another duet from this album called: "This Is the Picture (Excellent Birds)" co-written by Laurie Anderson. The initial version (also with Peter Gabriel), appears on Anderson's 1984 album "Mister Heartbreak" and is simply titled "Excellent Birds". Neither version was ever released as a single but a video was made for the So album. The video mix is a bit different from the album.

Originally Peter asked Dolly Parton, but thankfully she turned it down. So Peter turned to Kate because they had worked together previously.
Kate had provided backing vocals on two tracks on his self titled 3rd studio album unofficially referred to as "melt" due to the "melted" photograph album cover.
Peter was having great difficulty getting a female vocalist to correctly sing the backing vocals to the track "Games Without Frontiers" so he asked Kate, who turned up and nailed it in a very few takes. "Games Without Frontiers" became a hit single from the album. Kate also contributed the backing vocals for "No Self-Control".
Peter Gabriel was the guest star on a BBC Kate Bush special titled "Kate" and broadcast during Christmas 1979. Peter sung "Here Comes The Flood" and Kate & Peter sung as a duet covering a Roy Harper song "Another Day".There was some discussion about a possible single release which unfortunately came to nothing.
When Kate worked with Peter on his album that was when she was introduced tk the Fairlight CMI, the extremely advanced (at the time) and extremely expensive - digital synthesizer, sampler and digital audio workstation, which would make such an impact on her next three studio albums starting with "Never For Ever".
The BBC Kate special is (let's say) somewhat different, especially for a programme that was intended to be broadcast during the Christmas holiday period, it's well worth checking out.

Later covered by Willie Nelson and Sinead O'Connor! An odd pairing for sure, but they bring it off. The power of a great song.

Love this song, having lived in constant pain for 35yrs after badly breaking my neck it's been my wife and kids that have kept me going, so I can really associate with the lyrics, they make a great pairing too!

Many have said they were saved from suicide by this song. This song has only a hint of hope, but the eclipse helps give this tune a visual sense of resolution.
Your mentioning Thatcher is interesting....though not a Gabriel Genesis piece, 'Land of Confusion' features a Thatcher puppet as one of those creating more confusion than love. Thatcher and Reagan were both conservative leaders and friends but very unpopular with liberals (of which the guys in Genesis may be included). Phil's song is of course focused on President Reagan. Ghost released their video and cover of the song this past Easter. No stranger to outrageous videos, theirs takes the Genesis humorous satire in new directions. Their cover updates the sound but keeps true to the music. However, they take religious hypocrisy to new lows with their focus on sexual misconduct. The allusions are rather disgusting, but make for an interesting, if wildly off-beat video.

I have to admit that at first listen some of Peter Gabriel's songs did not connect with me. The emotions they evoked were too personal, too close to home and I couldn't process them honestly. Nobody talks about the solar eclipse happening behind Peter and Kate, how it transitions to full before moving away to the left and bringing us back to reality. Lots of deep meaning and beautiful sentiment makes this video and song timeless, like all of Gabriel's work. Always bears a re-listen.
