Small talk is a bit of an art form, but one must exercise great patience with it. It truly is mostly boring. It isn't the small talk or boring conversation that irks me. Shallowness of character and lack of basic human decency are unacceptable to me. Wealth, power, attractiveness, talent all tend to attract people on a very surface level. High intelligence is intriguing. Heartlessness and shallowness repel. I never did like shallow people very well, regardless of how much money or power they had. People pay attention to Elon more than they did before because of wealth accrued ... partially. They usually want his money, or to have their moment of "fame" with him. That's shallow AND transparent to him too. Be real. It beats being surface friendly. It beets shallow and insincere every single time. While I find small talk super boring, I understand its role in conversations and how important knowing how to use it is. Small talk is only used until you no longer need it. And the less you need to use small talk to get to the interesting topics, the better a conversationalist you are. Asperger people don't like small talk because they don't understand meaning of it. Some details of human interaction don't exist for them. It's hard to explain what small talk is to human like that. Like explaining colors to colorblind.
Small talk is something you can learn, esp since Elon is a public figure. Even if you don't talk and just listen, you should still be polite whether you have Asperger's or not.
Small talk always seemed like the way to get to big talk. Terrible at it so rarely got to big talk with many people unless we were drinking. Maybe the people I eventually did get to big talk with were people like me who also hated small talk but figured it out to get to big talk.
