    I'm loving these around the green videos. That's definitely a part of my game that is weak. 70 yards and in is like a death sentence. What I'd like to see? Something about improving consistency of contact for these 30-50 yard pitch shots. I tend to get a little fat and just don't get anywhere close to where I would like. Cheers!

    Mike, I have found that toeing down my sand wedge for shots from 5-20' off the green and slightly behind but very close to my back foot are very effective. There is no wrist break involved, just hovering the club slightly with my hands slightly in front of the ball and accelerating through the shot. The is a great way to pop the ball over the fringe or even out of fairly heavy rough, because with the toe down, there is less club to get caught in the grass, and the absence of wrist break eliminates a swing variable. Byron, I love that shot! I call it the "putt-chip". I have several videos on it on Instagram. I will be doing a video on that here for RUclips!

    Around the green I mostly use my 56 degree. I have trouble controlling roll out with lower lofted clubs.

      It definitely requires some practice!

    This will be a tough tip to try out since I use my 54° exclusively for chipping and pitching. I just always change my shaft lean/loft on the wedge depending on the distance. Im sure this concept that you taught us will be more consistent in results.

    I love your videos! You do a great job of teaching whatever specific skill or thought you have planned and your production is also top notch... well done!
    This is one area of my game that really needs some (a lot of) improvement. I tend to use my 60• and add or subtract loft depending on the lie and or shot required, because I feel like any time I try to hit a true chip, I almost always hit over the back of the green!
    Can you go over your setup and swing thought(s) during such shots??? Please and thank you!
    Keep up the good work!!!!!!!

    7i , P , 52°,..... Now if I'm in the bunker and it is chest high or more I'll use a 58° and that's the only time I use a lob wedge because I can open up my 52° enough to get the height I need unless I got to flop 😂 out the sand.... I played BayHill a couple weeks ago and that the first time I used my 58° in a while and that was on because of the tabletop greens!!!! Cheers

    I really use my 50 degree mack daddy 2 for most pitches and chips, I reach for my ping glide 2 stealth eye sand wedge when I don't have any green to work with! I don't carry a lob wedge, it's too hard for me to be consistent with distance control with a 60 degree! Cheer's

    My favorite chipping club is my 49° attack wedge. I never use a sandwedge around the green. Only if I'm going over a bunker.

    How do you choose landing distance?. I use either cleveland 42° chipping wedge, my 47 pw or maybe my 52 gw but no more loft than 52 when I'm close to the green

    I like to use 3 main clubs around the green: bump and roll with my 4h, chip with my 8i, pw for higher lofted chips. But that's just me.

    • @darinruddock3394
      @darinruddock3394 3 года назад

      1) when you need to carry an obstruction, but stop quickly on the green
      2) when the lie allows you the confidence to swing aggressively without the fear of drilling someone in the forehead
