these are used here in Canada by a town that floods every year, now every fall before the rains start they fill up the tubes and no more flooding, smart ...
after the water levels go down and no more predicted rain or hi levels they open several valves and slowly drain the water comes out very slow and is moved to drains works great ...
Thank you for having me I'm about to be rich off this. This idea has been around for decades but now that I'm getting this attention at the right time people will buy it.
I think that's an awesome product that really works but I have a cheaper way I live in a bus I converted it's my home on wheels and when the storm is coming I just turn the key and leave
This is a Phoenix Arizona station but Phoenix knows a thing or two about floods. In fact there's a "Green zone" running through Scottsdale, Tempe, that's a wonderful green park most of the year, but sometimes there's a LOT of rain and it can be under 10+ feet of water! That's what it's designed to do. It gives the water a place to go where it's going to go, instead of piling up as it did in Houston. It's pretty amazing to see an area you drive through all the time, with the depth measuring pole showing several feet of water, in an area you're used to seeing people play Frisbee, skateboard, etc.
This is a fascinating product. I first heard about it after Katrina and I thought - Wow! this will REALLY take off. But it seems like we never learn and they're still treating it like its a new discovery.
This video is from a year ago, because the rivers flooded like this a year ago. This is the third year in a row that the southwest side of Houston flooded. 2015, 2016, and 2017 have all flooded. Each year we set a new record. Saw several more aquadams this year. They even set them atop levees.
It doesn't take education to think of this idea. Clearly this guy was street smart. While his neighbors laughed at him, i am sure after this, they cried and will be investing in this aquadam. The guy is a trend setter.
25 years ago, I saw a man build an earthen dam around his home to protect against flood waters that were rising, a man down the road was infuriated that he put this dam around his home, he thought it was making his flooding worse so he drove his truck down and through the earth dam, caused this guy to loose his home too.
ez dealz Waterpumps can easily deal with the water that's coming through the soil. I'd still recommend waterproof shoes though, but atleast you don't have to swim and your house will be safe.
Seems like his home owners insurance should pay for the Aquadam since it saved them $150,000. No one mentioned whether the insurance would pay for such a thing? Home owners insurance often times give discounts for homes with security systems installed, especially those systems which also have monitoring and fire protection. They even offer similar discounts for cars equipped with security systems. I do not live in an area with a high flood risk, but if I did, I would certainly want to check with my home insurance underwriter to see if there are discounts or rebates to help pay for the possible damage avoided by using this or similar products. It would be the insurance company, after all, who would take the costly hit if the home instead took hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of damages due to flooding. Interesting? It seems like a very smart idea for those who live in high flood risk areas.
Whole neighborhoods could go in together for these. They deployed one of these on campus of C ofO in Branson, Mo to protect the sewer system during flooding last May. 2017. Crazy that FEMA isnt using these by the mile.
can only go large a diameter and so long a length until it becomes cumbersome to handle with even the best of machinery, would have be very durable and end overlapped by at least 8 feet to hold back water level sufficiently so, thus deploying would require some many thousands of workers to lay down miles of it in a day and properly with care
Now your home has the only dry land for water creatures to dock and why didnt the large amount of rainfall flood the inside of the barrier? Does this only protect against water coming in because of dam failure
Quinton Gauge It's amazing to think your house could be getting flooded, you put this around your house early on in the flood, using a pump and the flood waters to fill it up. Then when it's all set up you use the pump to clear out the water that is behind your new dam. Pretty cool!
I have smaller sandless sandbags and when activated with water they become very heavy at least for me. So with this type of dam what do you do with it once the flood has passed. Seems to me it would become a permanent fixture around your house. It would weigh a ton.
All very well for those who CAN afford one. Just like a lot of other tings, if you can afford it, you can stay healthy, eat decent food, take decent supplements, live in a nice neighbourhood etc.
The government should have just invested in these to protect all the buildings/areas when hardcore floods were/are expected. It seems like this would be a hell of a lot cheaper than having everyone relocated. I dunno, maybe I'm missing something. Should stock pile these and set them up to protect everyone when needed. Obviously you don't always have clear warnings, but from what I can tell a majority of the time you do. 🤔
i think its a great idea and it seem to work great but my question is were does the water inside that dam go once the flood waters reside? wouldnt it flood out your home and your neighbors when u take it down????
I think you put a rigid plactic connector to connect the ends together and it has a fill valve and i am sure a drain valve, might take a couple of day or so to empty, but still a good idea to save your house..
Lol, i loved the flashback that guy just gave me to the bush era... "dubya dubya dubya dot" I know that might sound common to many, but you dont hear that pronunciation up her in the NE often.
Seems like a really good short-term solution but also you would have to waste a ton of water in filling it plus where's the water supposed to go when you want to drain it? All that water will just flood everybody else's property once you let the water out
Why don't they just start up a franchise. Kinda like being on a list, and paying them to be ready for when flooding is going to happen. If they know how many companies are signed up and paying, then they should have enough people to put them up. Not for Residential, But Commercial Industrial. residential... they can install their own.
That would be great if they used contaminated water. But using clean tap water must be extremely expensive. Now somehow they could take it and take river water run it through a filter that would create cleaner water inside the tubes then it might be practical. But do use regular drinking water now what are you going to take the drinking water from the inner tube and dump it into the contaminated water. What's the cost of the water bill for filling up these inner tubes.
Insurance is a joke when it only overs the occasional event or only some to most of the cost to repair and then the premium gets jacked up after despite it was not your fault
I'm sure, someone is out there banging their head to the table for not coming up with this idea first. Haha. This company is about to make money from the east coast states. Can someone event something for homes to sustain earthquakes, we need that in the west coast. Los Angeles resident here enjoying the sun but after all this major earthquakes around the world. Has me worried that we haven't had one for a while.
fever should buy a lot of these put them along all of all of the highways it before they think there is might be a area flooded have National Guard or somebody like that or or federal authorities do it and put it around houses for preventive measure to save property it cost female whole lot more to fix the house after their damage than before
They should give that guy his $8,000 back for the publicity
they shoud realy 😊😊😊
Cedrone agreed. Country's largest flood ever and it stands up. He should be reimbursed as proof positive.
I wouldn't be surprised if his insurance company happily paid for it.
This was not on hurricane harvey it wad posted last year
And it's still relevant.
it's a worthwhile investment for houstan residents .whoever designed it is a genius and I give that home owner who invested in that dam a thumbs up

Worth every penny.
I bet the insurance companies will start demanding these Aqua Dams

Can you imagine if someone gets jealous looking at this and decides to stab a hole?
Shotaro Ikaros, Wouldn't the pressure inside the aquadam hurt the person if they tried to stab it?
Shotaro Ikaros evil
They are asshole

Good point. I wonder how it did this year though.
I guess some people would be saying "damn, I wish I had thought of that damn dam"
He was a very educated man was thinking about saving his home along with his family :-)
It doesn't take education to think of this idea. Clearly this guy was street smart. While his neighbors laughed at him, i am sure after this, they cried and will be investing in this aquadam. The guy is a trend setter.

PS: don't trust edited comments
Ok, will not trust you.
Thank you for the warning.
The conversation is really getting Non, non American for sure !
What keeps the water from coming through the ground?
ez dealz it's filled with thousands of gallons of water so it's really heavy
HDN Productions still water moves through soil underneath
ez dealz Waterpumps can easily deal with the water that's coming through the soil. I'd still recommend waterproof shoes though, but atleast you don't have to swim and your house will be safe.
Maybe over weeks and weeks.
ez dealz idk science
wow, best advertising for all the different companies who make all the different types of aqua dams
Aqua Dam is the most well known manufacturer of said bladder dams
Super great advertising for this company!
Great product!
What good promotion and use for a much needed product....
He was smart!

How is this video posted a year ago when this just happened....?
This was taken last year in Rosharon.
because you aren't paying attention.
Time travel
Have you ever heard of magic??
Duuh
3 eye raven
This is simple technology, surprised more inventions like this aren't well-known and used.
👍This video was actually posted over a year ago, so why didn't more people & the gov't use it?!?! This guy is proof that it works. 🤔
Having that first tube weighted down with water means you can attach air filled ones on top in case the water raises higher.
Best advertisement ever wow i hope the hire extra phone help after this, they are about get crazy busy
Wow!! What a wonderful product.
Where do you buy these aquadams? Thanks
They need these for California fire season store plenty water for 🔥 fire season
Now your home has the only dry land for water creatures to dock and why didnt the large amount of rainfall flood the inside of the barrier? Does this only protect against water coming in because of dam failure
Quinton Gauge the inside of the aquadam can be kept somewhat dry by pumping the water out. Still better than the house filling.
Quinton Gauge HYDRAULIC PRESSURE IS MUCH STRONGER THAN EARTH, PRESSES DOWN WITH TREMENDOUS FORCE.
Quinton Gauge water pump duh
Quinton Gauge they pump the water out so it can't fill up
Quinton Gauge It's amazing to think your house could be getting flooded, you put this around your house early on in the flood, using a pump and the flood waters to fill it up. Then when it's all set up you use the pump to clear out the water that is behind your new dam.

People thought these people were crazy until it shows it worked...
Irma, meet Aquadam!
Rock on Aqua dam!
I"ve got to check into this.
Where do you get water from?
that company is fking golden right now
What keeps the flood water from pooling inside the 3-foot dam? Not sure how that works; are there built in release valves? Just wondering.
portable gasoline-petrol/diesel sump pump works wonders with at least 3,000 gallons/11,356 liters a minute transfer
I have smaller sandless sandbags and when activated with water they become very heavy at least for me. So with this type of dam what do you do with it once the flood has passed. Seems to me it would become a permanent fixture around your house. It would weigh a ton.
open the valves and let it drain then roll up and store away until it is needed again, just like they mention here and on the website
All very well for those who CAN afford one. Just like a lot of other tings, if you can afford it, you can stay healthy, eat decent food, take decent supplements, live in a nice neighbourhood etc.
Amazing invention!
Wow! That's smart plans..
Just built the house on collumns above the flood line
U know the creator of this aqua dam is DAMM happy HE created this and hopefully people who have homes will buy one asap 😁
how much does it cost to fill that!?
The government should have just invested in these to protect all the buildings/areas when hardcore floods were/are expected. Born2DoubleUp Yep. I agree.
Great idea!
If you own one of these, your insurance co. Should give you a discount.
If every house did this, imagine how high the water levels would rise.
Maybe one inch.
I wonder if it would've worked with. Harvey?
Wouldn't the water flow?
FurRealz well it seems that if other homes are using the flood waters to fill the dam it might offset the flood water height.
Leahh823 lol imagine when it's all over they flood again cuz people releasing the water
It's a good idea, but the question is after the flood. What happen to all the water in the tubes going ? You can just release it.
How do you take out the water after the flood is done?
You dump it back into the street all at once so it floods again XP
It evaporates or you could use a pump to remove the water. Better than flooding your home.
Smoke Purp It will take awhile for the water to evaporate. Use a pump to get rid of the water. If the streets are flooded, then you're screwed.😑
i think its a great idea and it seem to work great but my question is were does the water inside that dam go once the flood waters reside? wouldnt it flood out your home and your neighbors when u take it down????

150 thousand in repair Bill? Dont The insurance cover this?
Joakim B3gballs Not if you didn't have insurance and uhhhhh..... that's not how insurance works.
most / many insurance policies don't cover flood damage. I know... crazy, eh?
Nope. Not many places where insurance covers flooding or natural disasters.
I have a rubber ducky to go with my rubber dam.
📣🔊Not sure why people would thumbs down🤔 but..📯..Chicken Butt,....Its an Amazing💡Success to the InVenTeR👍👍👍 •☆He will be busy Shortly.....*-)
Great idea
Have to have electricity for the pump? How does that work, off a generator?
way to answer your own silly question
🎶 Dam dam be da dam dam bi dam dam
Dam dam be da dam 🎶
Lol, i loved the flashback that guy just gave me to the bush era... "dubya dubya dubya dot"

What a wonderful experience a coo, product for such a time
Seems like a really good short-term solution but also you would have to waste a ton of water in filling it plus where's the water supposed to go when you want to drain it? All that water will just flood everybody else's property once you let the water out
It gets let out slowly over time. Flood waters help fill it with a special pump.
you definitely do not want to fill it with dirty water, it would become a swamp with each use if you use dirty/trash water
That’s not enough water to flood other properties.
This is seriously cool, AND...completely makes me want to eat Cheese!!!
wuuut

You just know that Japan will create the worlds largest aquadam.
I first seen these on the show, The Curse of Oak Island. Just had to throw that in there :)
Wouldn't their insurance cover the damage?
if it covers it and does not always cover total cost of damage repairs
His home is already elevated. Water will get underneath that thing and into his home if it wasn't.
The homer... *DOPE*
Wouldn't it be more convenient to just build a permanent wall?
His insurance company investors owes him 8 grand for saving them 100k!
Is this Microsoft Sam on the phone?
His insurance company should refund the money
That would be great if they used contaminated water. But using clean tap water must be extremely expensive. A special pump fill it with flood waters....
Free commercial air time.
Just build the houses higher.
8,000 for this or 80,000 or more for raising the home out of the flood ? .... decisions, decisions
Her feet hurt effecting her performance
Look at my DAAAAAM!
Wow smart guy
I belive the home owner insurance should reimbursed home owner
This is pretty cool, not sure I would want to live in a flood prone area without being able to get flood insurance, what a scam....
Insurance is a joke when it only overs the occasional event or only some to most of the cost to repair and then the premium gets jacked up after despite it was not your fault
The company might have nice profit from the sales after this promotion
This man is like the Noah of Houston? :D
Cool!
keren 👍
Hope he works from home.. Lol. Props to him
18,000 who the hell can afford that
Sara Israel $8000. Not 18000

Dmeingo Johnson wtf how did you comment on this nine months ago
i am me , this video was posted Aug. 23, 2016
i am me ...Your comment is hilarious :)
yeah, that water bill tho!
achanwahn You pay for water?
when you don't have a water well & live in the city, yeah.
I was thinking of the impractical nature of it for anyone inside city limits.
Daaaammmmmnnnn!
It only for water under 3ft high its useles
How was this posted over a year ago when this just happened??????
KidCity Lynnwood Flooding happened last year
But the government did this
What aquaman think about aquadam ?.
The goal must be to stop global earming- not protect single houses!
Global warming- not earming, sorry!

I see and hear as "Awkward Dam"
Id rather spend $8000 vs $2-350k again
Gravity, O that amazing un- proven si-op. I, like thousands of others know it's mass, and weight holding things down. Mr. News Man, not gravity!!
And it's not rubber, it's plastic.
smart option......until everyone else is using one........then the water levels go much higher than the dams and every home gets flooded still. lol
That's great though
Well its useless against earthquake
Well boats are useless on land also
aircraft are useless under water
