You also missed out the bit where his face got caved in by some bald angry man who is currently in Norway with his son. He often calls him BOI! Guess the reference everyone.
If that happens, it better be freaking kickass because we need more of Herakles as he should be, not as a constant reminder if the worst days of his life, nor as a hate-filled caricature of himself, but as a true hero whose greatness is unforgettable and is what comes to mind when one thinks of great heroes of antiquity
Would love to see Heracles as an Archer or Saber servant! I am under the impression that a servant's appearance becomes somewhat warped when the y are summoned into the Berserker class (citing the difference between Lancelot in Berserker mode vs Artoria's flashback). Is there any art of what Heracles looked like in life or otherwise when he's not hulked out?
Your impression is correct. Each class has certain modifiers to give the heroic spirit certain advantages and drawbacks against its competitors. The Berserker's modifier is called "Madness Enhancement", which boosts all their physical stats at the cost of higher brain function often to the point of blind rage and inability to speak. I do not believe there is any official art by Type Moon of Heracles as any of his alternative classes or in life, though I would wager there are a few fans who gave themselves artistic licence when drawing or writing about him in this what-if scenario.
I have Heracles as one of my first servants in FGO when it was launched in the first week! His lore is amazing (unsurprisingly) hut really got me of this Servant is how far he will go through to protect the little girl who suffered too much. After all, the pain and suffering they went through because of their families gives them common ground to bond over a short period of time before the start of the grail war.
I have him and he's my favourite servant in all the fate series paired with iskandar... His lore is sad in life as is sad in the fate series, truly an unlucky character, that'why i Like him a lot
Gil was fucking lucky that Heracles was brought into the berserker class in Stay Night cuz the Gil in Fate Strange basically lost his shit when he saw Alcides (Heracles Alter but he doesnt want to be called that) who is completely sane and full on anti-god with him throwing away his divinity cus of his sheer anger towards gods and this is a series with Enkidu, Gil's only rival that can match him in power and just so much more absurdly broken servants with Pale Rider the manifestation of pestilence itself and the idea of Who is Jack The Ripper into a physical form to be anyone or anything
I believe that was his Battle Tenacity or Continuation skill taking effect there sort of like Cú Chulainn who supposedly fought Gilgamesh for hours in one of the routes. They're different heroes and one is under the influence of being a berserker so I think that's what makes the difference there. Some really good heroes in Stay/Night that are just overshadowed by GG Gilgamesh, Baber, and I am You, and You are Me.
@Min Ex The moment Gilgamesh opened his mouth in Fate Zero, the number one thing I wanted was for Berserker to punch him in his smug face, but I didn't get that. Then I hoped that the Berserker in Fate/Stay Night would get to punch him, but I didn't get that either.
I really like your format, it was a damm smart and great idea. As for Hercules, i really like the dinamic between. The one who was "aboneded" protected by the madman, that, just for her, is able to keep himself in check. Is it is about power however, his alternate version, Alcides or True Archer, is a monster even beyond Hercules in my oppinion. He could even be the Grand Archer, for all i care
Shirou Tokisada Amakusa Kotomine grand doesn't necessarily mean powerful (although that's usually the case) it's often a skill that is associated with the servant that can qualify them for the class
The Title of Grand certainly doesn't seem to be nothing. That's why i said he could be, because it's a pretty big thing. WARNING, POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOR GRAND ORDER We know only of two Grand Servants so far (as far as i know). Grand Assassin King Hassan and Grand Caster Solomon of Israel. Both were stupendously powerfull, even compared to other outstanding examples of their classes. King Hassan was able to block Excalibur Galatine from Gawain, while he was empowerd to his highest through numeral of the saint *with his cape*. Which isn't even a Noble Phantasm. Solomon has complete control over magic itself, can call upon 72 Demons, whom each have enough power to annihilate multiple servants. And all of that are just his skills. ENDING OF POTENTIAL SPOILERS Hercules in the form of the Archer/Avenger Alcides hasn't appeared yet in Grand Order. And while there are other potential candidates for being the Grand Archer, he is one, if not the most likely character for it in my oppinion.
J Double C Well his mortal side dies and his soul is accepted among the gods. When summoned as a servant it's his demigod form. God's themselves normally can't get summoned.

His true name is Alcides, the human side of Heracles, when he hasn't come to be insane However, prior to being summoned he shrunk and lost his divinity. But, he makes up for it in various ways. One of...if not the strongest Archer in the Fate Series (theorized to be capable of going toe to toe with FP Gil for 12 weeks). "He can accurately shoot arrows from his bow at a target over twenty kilometers away, their speed surpassing the speed of sound and releasing powerful enough shock-waves to shatter any glass in the nearby area. Even when Archer uses the gauntlet of his Golden Armor to defend himself from an arrow, it still cracks the gauntlet and causes chips of it to fall away. His bow is strong enough to knock away weapons from the Gate of Babylon, and he can somehow survive an all out attack from all directions without receiving a single scratch by using his Nemean Lion Pelt Noble Phantasm. He states that Archer requires Ea to make them equal in a clash, producing a mysterious cloth Noble Phantasm. He also possesses Reincarnation Pandora. His Battle Continuation can allow him to continue fighting even with wounds that place him on the verge of death. An ability representing his strong will to stay alive on the battlefield. Bravery is a skill that brushes aside mental interference and increases melee damage. The divine curse lodged inside him has be brought out by the Command Spell. The score has decreased considerably. Forced Distortion of the class he was originally called forth in. He has received the other class's specialty as proof. Conversely, either of the class skills has declined. In his case, Independent Action has dropped to C rank. Eye of the Mind (True) is an insight fostered through training and discipline. His Hydra bow has enough power to match 5 of the beams of light from Ars Almadel Salomonis.(Which basically means he can match 5 Excaliburs). He's virtually invincible.
Looking back at the stories of the Greek mythical gods, I grow to love God of War III for very personal reasons. In fact, I take great pleasure in playing it.
Battle against Gil in the anime, while definitely a good visual one, really lacks when compared to Heracles's real achivments in the VN. Though I don't fault the anime for not doing it justice, due to animation limitation, what Heracles portrayed in the VN was far more impressive. How many people can claim that you defied the laws of life, death, and the world itself just to give comfort to a 'small' and 'fragile' girl? The Man is a Legend beyond normal means, beyond his tragedies, beyond his sins the Man deserves the best of respects. A tale that will go down in history for ages to come.
You know after watching this and actually knowing the backstory of Heracles I kinda feel like a dick now. I loved (and still do) the books Rick Riordan wrote on different pantheons and whenever he was brought up Heracles/Hercules was always made to seem like a bad guy, a "sorry excuse for a hero" and etc. I kinda feel like an asshole now and sure different universes means different people (and slightly different histories) but I feel bad now.
parker maisterra Very true indeed different universe mean different people with slightly different history this could be said same for Hawkules (He is the spirals version of Heracles/Hercules), I’m not quite sure if they mentioned megara and his kids.
Thanks to these lore videos I'm learning more about these characters than I knew before. Heracles, a man driven to rage and killing his own wife and child used that same rage to selflessly protect a (sort of) child that was under his care. I like to think he was trying to make up for his mistake with his family with Illya and protect her, not because of their pact but because he didn't want to be the cause of losing someone he holds dear. In the end, they both died in peace, blessed by each other, or at least I think of it that way lol Screw Gilgamesh though for what he did! No one does that to best girl Illya! lol
exactly! he didnt even need illya's heart in that route too because they decided to use Rin or Shinji thats what pissed me off the most Hate how in all the anime adaptions minus Stay Night she always gets killed she's one of the characters that deserves a happy ending the most next to Sakura
I didn't roll for Hercules when Fuyuki Pickup Summon was on in FGO. I have every FSN Servant except him and having been burned badly from Sakata Kintoki Pickup Summon where I was unable to get Jeanne d'Arc or Waver Velvet due to horrible E rank Luck, I had shied away from trying to roll for Hercules
It's really a sad story of a warrior that seems to have no remorse for his enemies but fights to protect his master. Too bad at first that Illya is a yandere loli.
Speaking of Heracles, can you explain something for me DaiKun?It's said in the wiki of Type-Moon that Divine Spirits can be possibly summoned with their full Divinity and that Demigods are applicable as servants and i got confused with all of that so can you explain to me what Divine Spirits are?
+OtakuDaiKun sorry meant to reply to this but was caught up with christmas stuff and looking into fate apocrypha as i prepare a full review in both anime and light novel to cover my basis in what's good and bad about the story in particular. anyway on the topic of Heracle's name I feel that while Nasu took it upon himself to do what I usually assume is deep level research on his part and I'm not really sure if the japanese even say Heracles since looking on some subs and dubs of fate stay night which were official had his name as "Hercules" so I can only surmise the reason why the name change to some extent is controversial on a small scale but not really. I think we mainly owe it to main stream media in how they chose to go about using the name Hercules over Heracles. since at least when it comes to looking back on American media we've had our fair share of greek mythology movies, shows, and games that have defaulted to using the name Hercules which over time became the more popular known name while still telling those exact same stories you brought up in the lore. I mean hell I don't know if they changed it but I recall my old literature books when i was in school from elementary to high school they called him Hercules. honestly as easy as it would be to simply say "Blame disney" it's really not their fault at least not entirely. I know disney took a friendlier concept of greek mythology but I still love watching that movie so I don't want you or others to get the wrong impression. the main point I'm trying to say is primarily everyone in the US at least myself included are so used to hearing this hearing this myth and used to seeing and even hearing his name be Hercules so it's understandable why most would feel off put if this is their first time hearing it that way. whether you decide to bring this up in a future discussion video or not or you may have already in one of your videos but I think it's a good topic to discuss on why certain heroes of myth have had name changes in some way or form since Hercules/Heracles isn't the only one since we also had that with Jeanne D'Arc translated to Joan of Arc, and probably the only other name that upset the fate fanbase was FGO's official english translation of Artoria to Altria even though previous dubs have said Artoria. anyway that was meant to be my reply to you on that and i think it may be more of a discussion point to bring up in the future when you think it's appropriate or even worth a good 5 minutes to talk about since I have seen comments and even the official FGO and Typemoon Wiki made a note about how the fan base got upset about the name changes.
Well, tecnically his name is Alcides, foremost the only one who can kill him, is him self, independent of the version of the hydra poison made for himself, or the auto funeral, the unique one who can kill Alcides are his own weapons or himself
OtakuDaiKun there's also Penthesilea in Nasuverse but most of time in Fate Grand Order Epic of Remnant, theres even a fanart of her with Hippolyta together. The bad news... she's a Berserker with Mad Enchantment EX rank and will go nuts if Achilles is around. Hippolyta as Rider appeared in Strange Fake but thats about it other then she punched a messed up version of Heracles into a mountain and erupted.
Gil's plan never made any sense to other than to provide some pointless violence: Illya already WAS the vessel for the lesser grail, but then after killing her they still needed someone to put her heart into so for it to work, meaning killing her was a waste!
Derek Bates That's a fantastic point. I'd love to hear his internal monologue. He could have used Illya herself, Rin, or Sakura as vessels, but settled on Shinji. It's probably a bit of his lust for drama and ego that provoked his decision. He is overconfident after all.
He didn't have any interest in the grail besides its curses so he intended to create a defective grail just to spill mud everywhere, you could make a point of him avoiding Angra incarnating or something, but Kirei did intend to complete the grail and Gil doesn't use Shinji after Kirei is dead so maybe he still was thinking on using a good vessel till that point and then Illya death was just because he wanted to fight Herc and had no interest in taking care of Illya afterwards, because he could have just waited to the end to go after her
2:41 [spoiler for HF] So that's where Shirou's name for "Nine Lives Blade Works" originated from. You gotta kill something faster than it can regenerate if you want it dead, and corrupt heracles (or alter, I don't know) is no exception.
Axels Santoso He’s a demigod. You’ll find a lot of those. I guess it’s assumed that, technically, they aren’t even at their full power as servants compared to how they were in life.
it's where he's best characterized IMO. In Fate he gets six lives shaved off by EMIYA off-screen, then another one by Rin, and then gets finished off in one hit by Caliburn, but no real heroic deeds as in UBW, just gets defeated in a straight forward fight. In Heaven's Feel ***spoilers*** he gets swallowed by the Shadow after fighting the Shadow and Saber Alter to the end to allow Illya to escape ***end of spoiler*** while this makes it sound pretty similar to fighthing to the end with Gilgamesh, I find the tragic ending of Illya dying and Heracles' Battle Continuation triggered after her death to be much, much more powerful
lol... when you name yourself that I feel like I'm actually speaking to Arcueid. Pretty much every servant has multiple stories to tell, so I choose the one I feel is the most dramatically potent. He's a great opponent in Fate, but we don't learn much about him in it, and in HF he gets pwned by Shirou's Nine Lives Blade Works. The UBW route adds a much better dramatic touch to his story, or so I feel.
Somethings bug me out extremely like when the fate lore for a character is changed . Kinda makes like its not the actual hero when the story is changed
Honestly if it was a fair fight between gilgamesh and heracles and you watched fight between gilgamesh and shirou [ and replace him with heracles ] , you know exactly who would have had whose head in his hands
hmm but why didnt he just take the loli and run i mean i get it hes a great warrior but still (and the gate of babayon is hack) after awhile they could have ran nothing really stoping him from picking her up and getting the fuck out
yeah but he is pretty dam fast i mean he could have sacrificed himself so she could escape but she stayed i mean i get it its to the story but when you just sit down and think about it they had other options plus as you said he was mostly protecting her is she woudl have goteen out of harms way the fight could have went differently but since he was using all his power to keep the loli safe (pledge to protect) it back fired

You should do a video on Chiron and the other Apocrypha heroes. That would be interesting to learn.
Basaka wa darenimo makenai
Sekai de ichiban tsuoi dakara!
This Boy here demands respect by merely existing. Don't dare disrespect the homie Herc
Heracles is best dad
Ah Heracles when Cu doesn't deal enough damage and Cu Alter dies too quickly
Berserker Heracles' weapon should have been the lyre
Voivoda Dracula He'd just bash people with it.
It would be a one-hit noble phantasm
You should do a lore video on Shirou Amakusa.
Owen Ahlquist Yes! Please Daikun!
His lore is basically the same with real life history
Pff I can't be bothered to study "real life history." So I figured, he's in the fate series, and Daikun does lore on fate, so I might as well ask him.
Hercules? More like, HUNKULES!
.13 to .21 pretty much sums up Greek mythology
Xavier Zeus' untamed libido...
our voice really works well with this kind of storytelling
TheRichmaster Thank you^^
I hope you keep making these Lore videoes and that you'll eventually expand into other Heroes not seen in the Holy Grail War of Fate/Stay Night :D
He then goes on to break the Enkidu like its a fucking twig and makes Gilgamesh shit his pants for the first time
I feel bad for him now ... 😖😭
Tdull1993 Well they're both misunderstood which makes them an ideal match.
@OtakuDaiKun Hercules can be summoned as Archer in Fate/Strange Fake he was summoned as archer known as True Archer
Do a Lore video of Hektor prince of troy
I will but he'll be after the classic servants as I work my way out.
OtakuDaiKun good good, nobody gives hektor the respect he deserves. Even Achilles stated they were rivals, and he wouldn't want 2 fight him again
Can you do karna or Arjuna, or even Jeanne d arc
I'm going to try and cover all of them, but I'm working my way out from FSN.
OtakuDaiKun ok, I like fate/stay night to, so who's next?
OtakuDaiKun
is it pronounced Berserker,BaSaKar, or Berser-car?
Jamal Davis berserker
Yu Homura
it was meant as a joke.
Lol, I didn't expected to see actual historical paintings XD
Guess Berserker's fandom isn't that big...
I could have filled it with lots of him just screaming and standing there but there’s hardly any art of his past.
I'd love to see how one of Zeus' other demigods would be like a Servant and what they would do as one. I am of course talking about Kratos
Kraros is not a son of zeus in mythology, he is the son of a Titan and his friend with Zeus.
Basically a divine spirit is a full on god. In order to be servants they have to considerably limit their divinity.
@@otakudaikun So,like for example,if Athena from Saint Seiya who is a goddess was summoned, she would be less than than god?
still seems odd how popular media goes with Hercules over Heracles. you'd think certain groups would make a bigger fuss over that small detail
Freddy Gutierrez There's actually meaning behind Heracles so it's definitely odd.
Freddy Gutierrez Tracing that trend all the way back would be difficult. It's the same way for Odysseus right? That's his roman name.
Basaka wa darenimo makenai!
Well, tecnically his name is Alcides, foremost the only one who can kill him, is him self, independent of the version of the hydra poison made for himself, or the auto funeral, the unique one who can kill Alcides are his own weapons or himself
Thats pretty good on the Twelve Labor part of Heracles (Hercules) Lore OtakuDaikun and also that Amazon Queen Hippolyta Rider and the freaking Hydra.
I was surprised to see Hippolyta had a Nasuverse image^^
Personally, I think he likes killing ppl.
He didn't have any interest in the grail besides its curses so he intended to create a defective grail just to spill mud everywhere, you could make a point of him avoiding Angra incarnating or something, but Kirei did intend to complete the grail and Gil doesn't use Shinji after Kirei is dead so maybe he still was thinking on using a good vessel till that point and then Illya death was just because he wanted to fight Herc and had no interest in taking care of Illya afterwards, because he could have just waited to the end to go after her
How Op would Zeus be if he could become a servant.
He'd have to find a way to limit his God status in order to fit into a servant form. Perhaps he could claim a human vessel like some other gods.
Weakness any female servant...
Genderbent Zeus?
But still has Zeus's lust for wamen
What would've happened if he went against lancer(Cu Chulainn)?
I dunno. Cu might have to use his NP for every life.
@@otakudaikun Thanks a lot for replying, I really like Hercules but I do feel Cu would've won. In the novel Cu battled against Gil for more than a day
Will you be doing lore videos about the Servants of Red and Black?
I will, but after the Apocrypha anime. Mordred is one of my favorite characters after all.
Alright, cool. Frankenstein('s monster) is one of my personal favorites, and I'd love to see her story done in your style.
Can you do Li Shuwen(Fate Extra Assassin)lore.
Finally a youtube video that doesnt call heracles hercules
It's important to his entire myth after all.
I'm amazed there isn't any artwork of Fate Hercules doing the 12 labors
I know, right? Hippolyta was the only one I saw a manga pic for. Pretty sure it's from strange fake.
that..that cant be possible request everyone for pics...
but si-
*EV-E-RY-ONE!!!!!!!!!!*
@Otakudaikun, can i know the anime where the characters from your opening came from? Thanks.
God Eater, Tales of Xillia and Vesperia, Inuyasha, Fate Zero... I think that's most of em.
2:41 [spoiler for HF]
So that's where Shirou's name for "Nine Lives Blade Works" originated from. You gotta kill something faster than it can regenerate if you want it dead, and corrupt heracles (or alter, I don't know) is no exception.
A hero to the end ...
Its sad that out of all the Fifth Holy Grail War Servants, Gilgamesh is the one with the happy ending when he died in his life.
Plazoblock12 I'm sure he still misses his play-dough.
Plazoblock12 You can't be a hero without a tragedy
Cake# Did Shakespeare have a tragic death? He's a servant.
OtakuDaiKun No but he wrote tragedies so it works out.
Can you please do Karna or Jeanne? I love your videos btw. They make legends of Fate character so much more interesting.
Thank you^^ I'm working my way outward from the classics. After Stay Night I'll be able to jump between Extra, Zero, and Apocrypha.
Heracles is perhaps one of the best well know heroes of ancient mythology but still people forger Greek tales,....well not always a happy ending
Soo.. Is heracles considered as a divine spirit (god)? Because if he is, then how can he be summoned in the grail war?
Axels Santoso He’s a demigod. You’ll find a lot of those. I guess it’s assumed that, technically, they aren’t even at their full power as servants compared to how they were in life.
@@otakudaikun so heracles is even more stronger when he is at his prime? Damn and he was already one of the toughest servant in fsn
I wanna see Saberles now
_B A S A K A ! !_
Please cover Shirou Kotomine soon! Or Kiritsugu Emiya!
Holy shit that was deep
Women : "exist"
Zeus: "begins to boink"
Only speaking of the UBW route Hercules?
it's where he's best characterized IMO.
A man worthy of his title
Though how filthy was that house he was cleaning?
They were huge horse stables.
OtakuDaiKun whoops must be daydreaming at that section
horse stable, yeah it is pretty filthy
Horse stable that had never been cleaned before
Good hero Herc still wish we got to see him an anime aside from his berserker form in Fate universe. Fate strange fake please.
Somethings bug me out extremely like when the fate lore for a character is changed . Kinda makes like its not the actual hero when the story is changed
Usually the changes they make are to have them appear more sympathetic.
Don't get why there's only one version of Heracles, would be cool to get Heracles as a servant in another class.
mlal89 Archer Heracles appears in Fate/Strange Fake, and he's super overpowered.
But archer heracles gets altered
Wait a sec!! Gate of Babylon.
Honestly if it was a fair fight between gilgamesh and heracles and you watched fight between gilgamesh and shirou [ and replace him with heracles ] , you know exactly who would have had whose head in his hands
Fights in Fate are always contextual.
Who put the "glad" in "gladiator"? Not Heracles because he was Greek!
Just Some Guy with a Mustache Oh Disney... teaching kids the wrong information when they're still so young.
Make an pharaoh ozy lore videos
I am actually.
OtakuDaiKun thanks bro I’ve been waiting for a while and he’s my favorite servant
How come you only included UBW for the FSN portion of the lore?
I always tell their back stories, but when it comes to summarizing their on screen time I pick the route I feel is most dramatic and relevant.
Ah. I was just curious. I noticed it before but didn't really think much of it.
pls do fate lore for karna
Tsukihime part 2, please
Don't worry, that's coming^^
OtakuDaiKun ok
Artoria - Check
Cu Chulainn - Check
Emiya - Check
Gilgamesh - Check
Medea - Check
Medusa - Check
Heracles - Check
Sasaki Kojirou - In progress (hes not the real Sasaki right?)
Well thats major SPOILERS but essentially he is the concept of the Heroic Samurai created by "Caster=Medea" from what i gathered from Fate:GO.
Correct.
What's the name of the first song ?
Alcides&Sétanta It's from the 2006 Fate Stay Night anime.
Thx
Please, do fate lore of karna
Wait isnt it hercules?
RusterRD That’s his Roman name.
@@otakudaikun oh okay XD just making sure i wasnt using the wrong name all along
Is there a manga for this?
Only visual novels/games :/
Fate Stay Night has a manga but it's inferior to the visual novel.
Wait wait isn't atlas a TItan
Hm? What about it?
hmm but why didnt he just take the loli and run i mean i get it hes a great warrior but still (and the gate of babayon is hack) after awhile they could have ran nothing really stoping him from picking her up and getting the fuck out
coolchrisable Well he is a berserker... not the sharpest tool in the shed. If he tried he'd probably get caught by enkidu.
yeah but he is pretty dam fast i mean he could have sacrificed himself so she could escape but she stayed i mean i get it its to the story but when you just sit down and think about it they had other options plus as you said he was mostly protecting her is she woudl have goteen out of harms way the fight could have went differently but since he was using all his power to keep the loli safe (pledge to protect) it back fired
c
True, Heracles is a LOT faster than Gilgamesh (if he doesn't use his ship)
MySpaceBarBroke Never mind, i fixed it That would be an odd scene. Heracles on the run in the forest being chased by a golden ship.
do Shiro Kotomine
