Coastwatch follows Fishery Officers from The Ministry for Primary Industries, NZ Airforce and Navy personnel, and the Maritime Police. Greenstone gets up close and personal to find out what’s involved in patrolling and enforcing the law that protects our coastlines, water-ways and billion dollar Kai-moana industries.
We also follow the men and women volunteering for Northland Regions Coastguard, and the Northland Electricity Rescue Helicopter. Tasked with responding to mayday calls, medical emergencies, on-water breakdowns and accidents, they keep our waterways, and those on them, safe. The Maritime Police, along with the Police National Dive Squad, are also on high alert for any maritime emergencies.

I’ve watched this video a few times now and I can’t help but to smile when I hear the narrator say “dingy” with his accent. I’m not meaning any disrespect at all…I love listening to narrators with NZ/AUS accents cover shows like this and history documentaries…it’s just the word “dingy” that makes me smile.

This is exactly why you buy yhe kit, learn how to use it & take it with you every single trip! Keeping emergency gear like the VHF Radio, flares, your phone etc in a dry bag that's easy to grab works wonders.Wade was also wear a life jacket, so altho he thanked the Deodar for saving his life, he did all the hard work himself 🙌🏻

Anyone at sea can understand it. The sea makes brothers of all of us.
No uglier way to die than drowning. The endlessness, like the abyss, how brave earlier sailors were, makes you think.
No safety net, nothing. Brave people and the sea.
Freezing is natures best way to go. Drowning is horrible. but Terry is never gone die, except saving the President!!

I was thinking the same with the GOOD BOY! but maybe that’s just how he is and doesn’t mean anything bad about it, he’s trying to help him and giving reassurance he’s okay. He was ani e guy.

That's highest praise. This guy had a radio and a light and helped them find him. They're rapt they've found a live man and not doing a body search.
