This box can hold a secret inside! Crikey, it's a marketeer - we'll clear those off the streets, pronto! You think Brian Cant? Well I know a man who can!
how weird . .a grown man of 55 with tears rolling down his cheeks thinking of a time gone by. Amazing what a short snippet of something precious can do. Wasn't expecting that when I searched. Thank you Camberwick Green, Chigley and Trumpton - pure joy.
You would be my brother's age, as he is 55 in October. I am 52 and remember Camberwick Green, Chigley and Trumpton with Brian Cant, one of the voices of childhood!
Sitting there with my mum watching it Steve ... Wish I could turn back that clock... I can see their faces & hear their voices ....It's all I have left ..
Ah...such memories. A time when children could have a proper childhood, and were easily pleased. A time of innocence too, sadly long gone. Dear Brian Cant, he was a wonderful entertainer and brought the characters to life so lovingly with his beautiful voice...possibly the best children's entertainer of the 70s.
Do take off those rose tinted glasses. There were just as many problems back then as there are now - different problems in some regards but generally speaking nothing much has changed if you ignore the headlines and look at the actual facts.
It was rubbish. Kids have got it so much better today with the internet. Britain was never innocent, haven't you heard of the empire and colonialism? We were oppressing the Irish at this very time too. Bet you're a brexiteer harking back to an imaginary time?
Those of us of a certain age are sure to have tears of joy remembering when life was so beautifully innocent with nuggets of magic that we truly appreciated. Those simple things.
this tune and Brian Cant's voice .....just makes me want to curl up on the sofa, with Mr Bear and a cup of hot milk, Mum's voice drifting through from the kitchen....rain pattering on the window, warm and safe, not a care in the world, about five years old. Why do we have to grow up
Because we must turn into cruel and mean-spirited MODERN SLAVES and in turn FAILED MILITARY CAMPAIGNERS - to create and condone drug filled neighbourhoods !
RIP Dear Brian I grew up with your voice , then later so did my brother watchng these marvellous harmless childrens shows, no violence, no swearing. I STILL watch these now and then for a cheer up!
Ah memories of such lovely pure innocent ....sadly found out recently Brian Cant is suffering with Parkinson's Disease. :-( BRian if you or relative read this thank you your calm warm tones were one of the those enduring memories of a lovely childhood.
I'm polish and i am 16 as i write this, i was lucky enough for my parents to buy a dvd of all the episodes, i don't remember much of episodes, some of them i forgot completely, but i know i loved them so much, i truly wish to show my future child this, and watch it with him
I always shouted "Windy Miller!" at the TV, as a child waiting to see who was going to come up out of the box. He was my favourite and I wanted it to be him every single time. Lovely memories of childhood here. 🥰
My stepdad showed me all these old shows when I was very little (bit before my time, i'm a Thomas and Teletubbies(ugh) era person), still all hold a special place in my heart, Camberwick, Trumpton, Chigley, Bagpuss, Magic Roundabout, Mr Benn, Rainbow, all brilliant ^_^
Same with me My Dad showed me Camberwick Green Trumpton Chigley Rainbow The Sooty Show Danger Mouse Mr Men (with Arthur Lowe) Mr Benn Bagpuss The Clangers Ivor The Engine (My favourite) Fingerbobs
Not for me, as I was born in 1970 and so had no experience of the previous decade. My brother was born in late 1967, and he wouldn't remember the 60s either. We were teenagers in the 80s!
I was all giggles until the music started then I started to get a bit dewey-eyed! I can actually taste the weak orange drink with a Rich-Tea biscuit (playschool snack). Oh boy... So Much time has passed... Don't waste it folks, follow your heart. Best wishes from an Englishman making music and armour in a French forest. 🇬🇧🎹⚒️
I loved Brian Cant and it's so sad to see him struggling with Parkinson's Disease. He was mad as a hatter and an incredible guy. I miss those times so much. He's 78 now and it makes me feel old (well I am getting old, to be honest). If you didn't live through those times you missed out big time and we'll NEVER ever have times like those again. Progress? Yeah, right.
I did live through those times as I was born in 1970 and remember Brian Cant very well - also Play Away. One of the voices of childhood, alas no more. As for the passage of time, I am now 52!
WHEN I DIE, MY FAMILY HAVE BEEN ORDERED TO PLAY THIS FOR ME AT THE CREMATORIUM, JUST AS I GO BEHIND THE BIG CURTAIN FOLLOWED BY LOONEY TUNES THAT'S ALL FOLKS HONEST !!!
Beautiful. I feel sorry for today’s very young children who are cynically hyped-up by programme-makers using the televisual equivalent of Haribo sweets.
Mike M I loved that the BBC recreated their 1970’s logos and the test card, and this for the show, I thought it was hilarious “ is he beating up the nonce” LOL. Loved this programme too, have the DVD but sad that my favourite episode with the fishmonger ( I also had the cassettes ) is all wobbly so it’s unwatchable :(
Thank you Brian from all the kids you entertained who are now middle aged. "Pugh,Pugh,Barney Mcgrew,Cuthbert,Dibble,Grubb"may you rest in peace Mr Brian Cant knowing cheered a lot kids up.
Based on watching the Trumpton trilogy back in the late 70s/early 80s I wanted to be either a Fireman or work in a Biscuit Factory when I "grew up", well the Trumpton Firemen never did attend any actual fires, and always did that Band concert on a Thursday where they played the exact same tune every week.
My nephews born in the 2000's grew up with this too. Also the Herbs and Thomas the Tank when Ringo narrated. Later, it was Thumderbirds that really transfixed them!
Goodness me what a trip down an innocent memory lane, I consider myself lucky to have been a child back then, taught me values and we had to make our own entertainment then with just a few tv channels....and then we got to the late 70's and Grange Hill on BBC 1 ....loved it but was that the start of the rott ?'.......lol
Absolutely fantastic!! Bring back Camberwick Green Chigley and Trumpton and all those old shows . Kids don't know what they're missing with all their computer generated rubbish these days. Sorry to sound like an old fuddy-duddy but it's true! These programes were genius and kids need to see that.
how weird . .a grown man of 55 with tears rolling down his cheeks thinking of a time gone by. Amazing what a short snippet of something precious can do. Wasn't expecting that when I searched. Thank you Camberwick Green, Chigley and Trumpton - pure joy.

I'm the same age, i can't listen for the tears....
Sitting there with my mum watching it Steve ...
Wish I could turn back that clock...
I can see their faces & hear their voices ....It's all I have left ..
And a man of.62 is crying with you
Magick ❤
I know exactly how your feeling and I'm nearly 58
I am 94 years young and watched all these great programmes with my children. Loved them then and in 2024. Thanks for showing them they are gold!
No drag queens story time then. Or sing-along a paedophile
Do take off those rose tinted glasses. There were just as many problems back then as there are now - different problems in some regards but generally speaking nothing much has changed if you ignore the headlines and look at the actual facts.
When I was about eight years old I met Brian Cant on an aircraft flying to Corsica. He was very kind.
It was wonderful. It represented an England of innocence, freedom and strength. Top class children's television
Something i think we will never get back.
The Best ...👍👍
So many happy memories
@Danny Clover Cess pit is apt description of modern Britain, the equivalent of the ‘Dirtiest toilet in Scotland’ scene from Trainspotting.
I loved this as a child and i now have tears rolling down my face remembering my blessed childhood a time of innocence and being with my parents.
It brings tears to my eyes this part still
this tune and Brian Cant's voice .....just makes me want to curl up on the sofa, with Mr Bear and a cup of hot milk, Mum's voice drifting through from the kitchen....rain pattering on the window, warm and safe, not a care in the world, about five years old. Why do we have to grow up

Tearful nostalgic tune. Takes me back a lot of years!
It brings tears to my eyes this part still
If you're of a certain age and can listen to this theme music without a flicker of emotion then, you have a heart of stone.
Ah memories of such lovely pure innocent ....sadly found out recently Brian Cant is suffering with Parkinson's Disease. :-( BRian if you or relative read this thank you your calm warm tones were one of the those enduring memories of a lovely childhood.
Childhood memories .... become memories of my late mother ---- become damp eyes ... love you Mam x

This was one of my late husband's favourite childhood programmes.
This was truly wonderful as a child. How I wish I could go back for a few hours at least. Beautiful, innocent and happy times.
I was a child watching this So many lovely memories When Life was so much simpler
I'm polish and i am 16 as i write this, i was lucky enough for my parents to buy a dvd of all the episodes, i don't remember much of episodes, some of them i forgot completely, but i know i loved them so much, i truly wish to show my future child this, and watch it with him
and at 52 with grandchildren. This makes me happy and emotional at the same time. Happy wonderful times.
Thank you for taking 50 years off my life - the beauty of childhood innocence x
Brian Cant in a broom cupboard. Lunchtimes of my childhood.
I always shouted "Windy Miller!" at the TV, as a child waiting to see who was going to come up out of the box. He was my favourite and I wanted it to be him every single time.
Lovely memories of childhood here. 🥰
Ah yes, Windy miller. Always a crowd favourite!
I'm glad to have been a child in that era with these memories.

Can remember watching this with my brother when we were little children. Lovely programme and characters. Brings back memories.♥️
having spent my childhood in the 70s i agree it often seems to have been a much nicer and less complicated time, would that we could go back
That music is beautiful.
60 yrs old....my eyes are stinging watching this. What magical programmes were created in the 60s and 70s for children.
Awh, don't cry. I love all those 70's progs too. They were fun and experimental 😀
I'll be 60 this year, such happy memories of all the programmes I used to watch and how innocent they were
@@bjwwil I hope you have a Happy 60th birthday mate. I'm not that far behind you 😉

Golden memories of the golden age of children's TV. Magical.
What a wonderfully gentle programme for children. I used to love this.
Loved the whole "Trumpton Trilogy" XXXX
Can't believe I just got excited waiting to see who came out of the box ! Wonderful show.
I loved this as a child in the 60s, the best time to be a kid, and the 70s were the best time to be a teenager
Wholeheartedly agree!
Not for me, as I was born in 1970 and so had no experience of the previous decade. My brother was born in late 1967, and he wouldn't remember the 60s either. We were teenagers in the 80s!
Yes
Was soooo scared of that box 🤣 but at least they talked English and not teletubbie ha ha 🤣🤣🤣love it, and trumpton & chigley
WOW memories 40+ years there. Seems like yesterday.
Just heard of the passing of one of my childhood heroes Brian Cant. So sad. What an absolute legend. RIP great man. Trumptonshire salutes you.
When I was a kid...the way that music box opened BLEW MY MIND.
It is one of the most fabulous things I will ever see in my sad life. I am 50 now, and still can't quite work out how it opens !
Myyyyyy Word!!!!
This has just transported me back
One of my earliest memories 🥹🥲
I was all giggles until the music started then I started to get a bit dewey-eyed!
I can actually taste the weak orange drink with a Rich-Tea biscuit (playschool snack).
Oh boy... So Much time has passed... Don't waste it folks, follow your heart.
Best wishes from an Englishman making music and armour in a French forest. 🇬🇧🎹⚒️
Simple and magical. A bygone era of childhood TV - Camberick Green and Trumpton!
Good memories but sad nostalgic music!
Back in those days we were happy with little things! No play station, mobiles, computers! It was school, homework and play!!!
Wonderful memories of me at 3,4,5 years of age...☺️ I am now 53 (Born in 1969)

Shared memories modern day kids will no longer have ...
There was an amazing scene in 'Life on Mars' when out came Sam Tyler.... Absolutely priceless.
WHEN I DIE, MY FAMILY HAVE BEEN ORDERED TO PLAY THIS FOR ME AT THE CREMATORIUM, JUST AS I GO BEHIND THE BIG CURTAIN FOLLOWED BY LOONEY TUNES THAT'S ALL FOLKS HONEST !!!
Thumbs up if you remember this from being little - and if seeing it again makes you feel like you've got something in your eye...
Yes
Beautiful. I feel sorry for today’s very young children who are cynically hyped-up by programme-makers using the televisual equivalent of Haribo sweets.
Thanks to Life on Mars I cannot watch this without hearing "Is Gene Hunt kicking in a nonce?" . Even though I used to watch this as a kid.
I know. ' Its Sam Tyler. How are you today? Oh dear not very happy. Is it Gene Hunt? Is he kicking in a nonce?@
Mike M I loved that the BBC recreated their 1970’s logos and the test card, and this for the show, I thought it was hilarious “ is he beating up the nonce” LOL. Loved this programme too, have the DVD but sad that my favourite episode with the fishmonger ( I also had the cassettes ) is all wobbly so it’s unwatchable :(
That made me laugh 😂

So emotional and nostalgic. Thank You Gordon and Brian for making great childhood memories. God Bless to you both.
I was 3 in '71, and remember it. Glad I grew up on the edge of a Scottish town outside Glasgow with dams and blackbirds everywhere.
I was 8 in 1966. Would watch the wonderful show during the School Holidays.

My nephews born in the 2000's grew up with this too. Also the Herbs and Thomas the Tank when Ringo narrated. Later, it was Thumderbirds that really transfixed them!
The music box used to scare the crap out of me...took me years to be able to watch it. Even now I get a weird feeling!
Didnt mind the box (in black and white), it was that dodgy clown !
@@highpath4776 I was never scared of the clown or the music box. In fact I found the box bit exciting, waiting to see who would pop out.
It kind of made me tearful it did then
That music box used to absolutely freak the shit out of me out when I was little. I have no idea why.
I’m 14 and I remember seeing this as a kid ❤ good memories
They did air on cbeebies every now and then!
Oh the anticipation of the box opening. Happy days ❤️❤️❤️
Life On Mars Brought Me Here.
And upon this tower of stone a war was won at last...and the King saw no more war to rule and past..for his Kingdom would never crumble he thought

On his death his council was strong ,sturdy he thought. Like a Witch from Blair. His fields of Sedge was Bought.
Murray and Postgate were geniuses.. them and the guy who did Magic Roundabout..
Still watching 50 years on..👍
At 0:45 really think about how it felt to be a child, the things you used to do & if you have any sole you will cry.

Takes me back to my childhood.
Here is a box a musical box.. happy memories right there as a kid
..Funny, ... When I fell out of my mums womb this was the 1st thing I enjoyed.
The shit that kicked off in our house when it wasn't Windy Miller.
I blame those FAILED MILITARY CAMPAIGNERS !
Thinking how happy I was as a child
