I should have mentioned that in the video - that's the old race that I removed. I'm using it as a tool to push the new one down since I don't have the $75 race insertion tool. If I didn't cut the slot in it, it would be really hard to get it out after seating the new race in as the new race sits down inside the face pretty deep. Cutting a slot just means my new tool comes out much easier after I tap the new race down. I didn't do it for the left side because I could get a punch in and tap the old race out. I hope that makes sense.
Why did you cut a slot in the bearing race at 7:10?
