Incredible video, she provided tons of value. Can't stand on people criticizing her hand's movement instead of focusing on how this content might impact their businesses. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much @foundr & @Gretta for the valuable information. Below are notes that I have taken from the video for anyone to read and use. Enjoy 5 THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING AN ECOMMERCE BUSINESS 1. Product should be a solution to a problem - Look for a problem then use your product as the solution - Focus on a niche you're passionate with - Turn the problem into a question, then use your product as the answer - Look for products with the least saturation/unsatisfied demand 2. Product should be viable for ecommerce - Factors to consider is; Can it be shipped worldwide? How heavy is it? Is it safe for the consumer? Production cost and margins 3. Product should be able to be unique from the competition - What makes you different? You don't have to create a new product - Factors to consider are; Design Function Time Price 4. Targeted market/Specific customer - Know your clients who'll be interested. Who will want to enjoy your products and tell their family and friends about it. - Ways of doing this is by; Creating an ideal persona Do research from your competitors Can be audience centric. Examples; age, gender, location, income level, interests, values, personality etc. Can be product centric. Examples; design, function, price, time etc. 5. Build an audience before launch - Create a theme on your Instagram page in relation to the problem you're solving - Use hashtags from pages that have a lot of tags/following - You can repost viral content and credit the source - Use a Instagram business account to be able to access analytics - Use a website for converging potential clients. Put it in your bio - Post a lot of valuable content; preferably 2 posts in the morning, 2 posts in the afternoon then 2 posts at night
I can agree with what she stated and her reasons behind it. The only thing that I felt she could have included was how to get a hold of the required resources to create said products.
Even though Im not planning to create a product to sell and just plan to dropship, this helped alot with tips on focusing an audience and area of the market.
How expensive is it to start an ecommerce business? I know how to design websites (and programming generally), and I know how to maintain the technical aspects of things. How much does it cost to officially start a business, company etc?

I ask these questions because I want to start in the right direction even if I do not expand to other Brands or stores in the future. I have a great website and niche product but not one single slae since i got started and I'm very frustrated. The most awesome video ever made by Sam because it so consicely summarises everything he's spoken about over the years, to the point and really really valuable information
Hello do you own a website for your online business or you want to create. I can give you a guide onlinemakeeasy.wordpress.com/2020/09/08/how-to-start-a-blog/
let's use the principle of e-commerce in physical stores I explain: every store in the world is 1.0 in this store, products almost never change and the owner chose the products it is boring now, there must be a new store 2.0 in this store, products always change and people choose the products there will be via an app on the app, there is a huge catalog, people choose the products that will show up in the store the store is constantly being supplied with the products people choose
We should start a ecommerce for your right hand also, it barely moves. It would be good to test people with anxiety to see if it will enable the anxiety. If so we would give them medications.
Wow! There is a lot of great information jam packed in this! I wish she went a little more into depth on marketing frameworks and factors leading to securing market share. BUT this video is great, some of the information is obvious but It is usually the simplest solutions to our biggest problems.
I’ll definitely need a partner to help me with the marketing side of things for what I want to do because marketing just doesn’t click with me. It all makes sense as I watch videos about it, but I can’t think off the top of my head about it on my own
so my cousin an I run a very nice e comm business already selling products we have in our warehouse that we buy from the manufacturer. weve always just been a little confused because most of the time if our customers dont receive their item within 2-3 days they flipppp out. how does dropshipping seem viable when some of these products can take up to 6-8 weeks for delivery time. thats the one thing i dont understand how your not refunding everyone every day. can someone explain
Vose you need to manage your customer’s expectations. Tell them how long shipping will take, if they need it sooner, then they should order it earlier, else go by it at a brick and mortar store. Also, 6-8 weeks is not drop-shipping.
She’s from Melbourne Australia, I’ve watched her different interviews on television, over the last few years, here in Australia. She’s quite good at what she does, but she’s the only successful individual, that I’ve watched here in Australia, who’s made a very successful internet business. Their are many successful people, who are making money on the internet, but she seems to be well above average, when it comes to internet success stories.
With respect to her "your product must solve a problem" bit, how does this relate to fashion? For example, if I were creating accessories such as jewelry, how is this solving a problem?
Exactly. This video was outstanding, but is only directed to certain types of businesses. "The world doesn't need more products" totally shuts down certain types of potential business owners.
Is a basic MacBook Air 2020 enough performance for an e-commerce start up? I’m considering returning mine and getting the Pro... Does anyone know how demanding an e-commerce business is as far as laptop performance goes?
Totally depends on how much you're doing with your business! With a MacBook Air, you can easily run an ecommerce business as it's entirely online. However, if you're doing heavy photoshop/video editing work for your business, you might need a bit more power! All depends on your needs- but in most cases, you certainly don't need anything more than an air!

My question is this. Even though I have yet to start my first E commerce business or opened my first Online Store I have more than one interest or passion that I think I might could parlay into success (being optimistic of course). What about multi product businesses such as homewares ? I wonder why no one talks about this.
so my cousin an I run a very nice e comm business already selling products we have in our warehouse that we buy from the manufacturer. weve always just been a little confused because most of the time if our customers dont receive their item within 2-3 days they flipppp out. how does dropshipping seem viable when some of these products can take up to 6-8 weeks for delivery time. thats the one thing i dont understand how your not refunding everyone every day. can someone explain
Vose you need to manage your customer’s expectations. Tell them how long shipping will take, if they need it sooner, then they should order it earlier, else go by it at a brick and mortar store. Also, 6-8 weeks is not drop-shipping.
6-8 weeks sounds like dropshipping from China. Explicitly stated how long it takes. Give them the option to upgrade shipping if they want it faster.
Wow thanks for such valuable info!😲
Glad it was helpful!
This is really helpful!
Glad you think so!
Foundr Magazine That totally makes sense! Thank you so much for your reply I really appreciate your input! 🙏🏼
