Upflow filtration was pioneered by the New England Aquarium back in the 1960's. They took water from Boston Harbour (then the most polluted water in the world) and cleaned it by forcing it through a 5 foot deep 500 square foot bin pushing the water up through the sand and allowing beneficial bacteria time to break down the pollutants. I know this because I was a volunteer guide there back in the 19070's-80's.

I have 10+ years in saltwater coral reef tanks and love low maintenance, Excited to trade in my Ag construction business and apply all my knowledge from those into being a CAC :)
