1. Audio System preferences are adjustable for All About The Base. 2. Steering toughens to enhance vehicle control at higher speeds. 3. Pillars to close? Looks like the driver's seat is too close. 4. $120,000 + purchase by BMW lovers don't care about your whining, it isn't sunny, glasses off!
You'd probably find an issue with 74 degrees, a blue sky, and no clouds. Amazing that you spent nearly 20 minutes whining about the car, yet never mentioned the highway ride, nor the seats, which are among the best on the market. One, drive one on a trip for 500 miles and tell me 5 cars you have driven that have a better highway ride. Two, the seats are incredibly comfortable, among the most comfortable seats in a production car.
is the highway ride really that good? My dad is thinking about upgrading from his 2012 BMW 535i to a 750Li - I thought the 7 series was the more firm and harsh one in the German luxury sedan market.
richie s david gleason I always had a problem with the X6, the seats hurt your back after consecutive seating after a half hour. The 7 series, I want to find out about though.
Dave Gleason have you driven a porsche, bently, or rolls royse, all of those companies make better handling, comfortable seating and more efficiant vehicles than bmw
But he is right though you don’t want problems in a car that expensive. You would be bitching to if you had to put oil in at only 2500 miles or if the trunk didn’t work right. Its 122000 dollars? Oh yeah you would be bitchin too if you owned it
Any review that starts off in this tone makes me wonder. Now having said that, being a BMW owner for numerous years, I think I speak for all BMW owners when I say, BMW is not designed to be loose as a goose. That tight steering is one of the signatures of a BMW . You either love it or go get Mercedes or Audi. I have previously owned 3,5,7 and X5 and loved them all. Thank you for nice quality video and I respect everyone's difference of opinion.
How refreshing to watch a review that isn't scared to tread carefully. In the UK the reviews are all slightly biased, in that they do mention the little annoyances but they immediately follow it with praise so as to not rock the boat. I'm currently in the market for a 7 Series though I am looking at the older E38 variants, which do seem to be the most appealing.
I love how the test driver is reviewing the car in a honest way and not non critical like he was bought by beamer. With a car like this you deserve perfection and its important to define the weak spots instead of just talking about how fantastic it is to sit in etc.
Man u r concerned about many things that is not necessary !! If u want all these "little things" then go and drive an s class and do not complaint ! BMW is about "sheer driving experience" !!!
Screw all the haters. This review was awesome. I don't need to hear talking point facts that I'd see in the brochure in a BMW showroom. Why don't the auto headlight and auto windshield wiper settings stay put??? Show me another presenter that found that out. For a $122G they need to fix those problems. Problems you wouldn't catch on even a long test drive. Potential buyers need to know this stuff. Thank you so much for your uncommon thoroughness.
well i had to S550 a 2012 and 2013 and now i own a BMW 750LI 2014 model and its way better then what i experienced with both my benz... now the 2014 S550 is a different story but BMW is neck and neck
Perhaps elaborate more in your videos. You say go for the shortwheel base. Why? You said moments before its a great passenger car, why would you want less room? You say your main concerns with the car are from a driving aspect, yet you spend the majority of the review talking about issues that have nothing to do with driving. And the items you do mention which are related to driving, you actually like; handling, transmission, power delivery etc. Driver entry into the car in my E66 is fine, I can't imagine the F01 is any different. Auto lights and wipers need to be activated in the majority of cars, why find issue with this on the 7 series? Lots of contradictions and not enough information on other aspects like differences between suspension modes, thoughts on comfort and visibility, quality of finish, refinement and equipment options.
Very well and detailed presentation. Much better than some of the big boys out there. I would put all the bad points down to xdrive, all wheel steering and long wheel base. As far as getting in and outta the car comes down to your built. There are many more and much more expensive cars that are harder to get in and out, like the lambos, vettes etc. There is no excuse for a $7000 b&o sound system to be bad. I guess nothing can be absolutely perfect. I love 7s I have one too but its 13 years old.
Here in the UK, you can get the 2014 3.0d model with 100 miles on it for only £38k or less if you haggle. That in my opinion makes it the best value big car availabe. The equivalent S class is £90k. Look on Auto Trader and you'll see.
Thank you Jesus, finally an auto reviewer that does not sound like he was bought off by the car companies and does not sound like he is reading out of a press release. I think you and Brian Cooley might be the only ones left. BMW has some serious issues that they need to address and their cars, especially their 7 Series just don't compete anymore.
I test drove this car and he hits the nail on the head: quick yet sort of listless, if that makes sense. BMW seems to be very stale right now, while Mercedes (I am an owner) and Audi are turning out really unique cars, especially AMG and the RS models. This is a fine car, but you can do way better for the asking cost.
Things I would never have thought about, the front seat door opening space, rearview camera at night, oil consumtion, re-setting of the seats, heads up display won't show w. polariod glasses. I won't have the money for a car like this, but this was a surprise to me. Thanks for all this great information!
I like the discussion about the rear view camera. Isn't this though a problem on nearly all cameras on all vehicles? I have noticed that they are adversely affected by weather and lighting. Yes there are probably one or two out there that aren't problematic. But the LP lights should not be distorting the view. I always recommend test driving a car at night to check for problems like this.
I liked the review. I really like the BMW 750 Li. I dont think anything is gonna change that. The vehicle is packed with technology so there is a huge learning curve if you are coming from lets say, a Lexus product. The brand is timeless and the car as tested is unique. Lets face it, the 750LI is a BEAST!
People need to see this guy's other reviews. They're very good. He's being a bit harsh here but I think it's necessary because this car is after all a $100k car and it should be damn near perfect but there are noted issues with this car and with other F01 7 Series. Oil consumption, features not working as they should, plastic cooling parts cracking, turbo seal failure at only 50k miles
I think he had valid points, but hammered them home to hard. As an overall package that is essentially 5 years old now, it still holds it's own. The Lexus is now just dated and really needs to bring a new LS out. The A8 is to understated and similar to lesser Audis. For the moment the S Class is the one to have
This is the first car review done by your company, it is professional and gets straight to the point! Please continue, I will watch a couple of your other videos! Great job
Nice review! I think your negative opinions are not exaggerated! I do not own a BMW, neither an S class. But after seeing the new S class ...., this BMW looks like a class beneath. Just have a look at the S class pillows, the seats, the trim, the shapes and how everything fits together so nice. Then compare them with the BMW ones. Big difference.
Thanks for your in depth test - and as a BMW owner for many years I can agree to many of your comments. Little things can actually be very frustrating when you encounter them day after day so it's nice you got them as well. I also own a Tesla Model S - and it would not stand a chance in many respects compared to this BMW. However, both are nice cars...
Personally, I drove 2 550is with black interiors. I drove another with white interior and my whole perception changed. I like a Silver metallic on the outside but w/ there is just too much light inside the cabin I don't like it. Any car I drive with a bright interior I never like. I think the reason why you don't like it is due to the bright interior.
why you sure love to complain...sorry the heads up display doesn't properly work with your "polaroid glasses"....find another car that can do all of these functions better!
Not rough. He's healthily critical. It's wrong to think there could be nothing wrong with an expensive vehicle or product. Don't be that mainstream consumer. The points about the oil consumption are valid and true. I feel like he gave a fair and honest view of the car. Both plus and minus points were adressed.
rode in friends 750li yesterday to NC. i see the point in the back up camera. BUT the mirrors work for that. it is a fun car to drive in my opinion though. But i do respect your opinion, and your videos. well thought out sir. thank you. Aaron
I have to disagree just a little bit on this review KG I own a 2013 GS350F and 2 previous Audi's and after testing cars for my next lease i drove a 2014 model which is basically the same veh. and could't believe how nice this car drove I really think reviewing cars can be subjective when it comes to steering feel I thought the steering felt perfect. I also drove the 2015 mercedes S550 and the 2014 AudiA8. The Audi or the BMW or the cadillac CTS-V Sport is my next lease. The Mercedes is the quietest car I ever driven and most luxurious but felt heavy the AUDI A8 just incredible wish everybody could own one I love your reviews. I find them spot on thats why i brought my GS-Fsport after viewing your review. The cadillac CTSV-sport is the best car hands down for the money it felt like those 100,000 dollar cars for thousands less you need to do a review on the CTSV sport the car will blow you away.
Is this the 760LI because I am not sure that you can order 750LI with the rear idrive controller (I think it could be only ordered with the touch command tablet for the rear seat entertainment)
I think he is being very critical, but the is what car design needs! For that amount of money, BMW should strive for absolute perfection. I praise you for your criticism, don't mind these "idiots" who don't understand the importance of criticism in the design process.
If you want a car for long family drives it might be worthwhile to wait for the new Benz. It should launch in the middle of this year and it looks like it is going to be impressive. For the 458/MP4 question. It is very tough. The MP4 is more comfortable and ultimately faster, but the 458 has more passion and is a bit more fun to drive. It depends on how often you want to drive it. Frequently = MP4 Very special occasions = 458. So what do you do in Pakistan that has you shopping these cars?
Only ones that effect him ...example polarized glasses...how does that effect me and he could of moved his seat back..he mention music which he doesn't even like like pop music..so why complain about it not having bass ? If you dont even like that type of music?
Thank you, Kevin. I assume that you get these cars just like Motortrend & Road & track get them to review? I hope you do the new S class 2014. I really like that car, and I saw it at the Frankfurt IAA. It's a beautiful car.
Yep. A 2009 CPO at a BMW dealership here in Canada is going for $47k with 64,000kms. Has the sport package, HUD and a few other goodies. I'd rather purchase used because of the minor flaws with this car and now someone has already paid the insane depreciation of the car.
Neal, obviously this is a good luxury car for casual driving, not without its issues, but I believe you can complain and they'll probably fix a camera, and automatic trunk for you If you're looking for a sports car, look somewhere else.
As for the interior getting dirty it would happen to a black interior too only you can't see it. I love cream interiors, it forces you to keep it clean. The rearview camera going white is shocking but the rest of the car is awesome.
He could improve his delivery but he makes good points. Intrusive AWD, engine burning oil, info readouts impossible if wearing polarized glasses, back up camera not visible at night, rough riding RFTs amongst other flaws is sort of unacceptable in a $100k car. Remember BMW charges their customers for certain options so they should work as promised. In all honesty the old E65 seems better in terms of driveability, only flaw is the rear end design which isn't much of a big deal.
Good criticism. I wonder if who gave you the car should have explained some features and settings before letting you drive away. For example the fact that when you get out and back in the car the suspension settings are not saved...or that the trunk didnt open with your foot. There may be an answer to those and more. You missed showing the camera for incoming traffic. Did this car not have night vision collision prevention, adaptative xenon lights, automatic leveling suspensions?
It is kind of concerning the engine is consuming oil at that rate considering my old beater Maxima with 255k on it doesn't consume a drop of oil between changes.
I'm assuming your were going for hypocrite there... Our banner image is a BMW on which we just posted the review and we liked quite a bit. That is because we don't dislike BMW or any brand, we just had some disappointments with this particular model and trim.
People need to keep their eyes out for Japanese companies in the coming years. People are finally starting to realize quality over name. BMW's have been over charging americans for years and people will fall for it to say they are driving a BMW. But later in its life after putting over 8,000 dollars into the car how do you feel about it? I just recently made the switch from german to Lexus and they make a fantastic product. Theres a reason they have won many top awards over the years.
thanks bro… So, S8 should be bought… Merc's replacement's coming so should that be taken into consideration or Audi S8 is the choice? ( primarily for long family drives, luxury sedan) Can U alos tell me which sports car: 458 and MP4-12C, are neck on neck, but Im confused, which one should be picked…
Very nice review, thanks for sharing. Touches with precision on important aspects that anyone who belongs to the specific target group for BMW will appreciate. You could have started the review stating the +ves first and then the -ves (would make your position easier, now you get a lot of heat but don't listen to them). Overall happy to have watched your video, well done.
I don't understand whats better about the 2003 7 series compared to the 2013 model? I had the chance to test drive the latest 7 series and I have to say it's amazing. I don't know how this guy can say so much negative about this car.
This guy needs a pair of fake beats or a roadside refit shop 20 inch subwoofer. How can anyone dislike the B&O sound system? One guy I know who spent upwards of 10k$ on hi-end home speakers said it was the best car sound system on market.
A very nice review, and BMW should not get crazy about it,on the contrary i think it will serve them well, cose it is a users feed and they should build what users and folks like, not what they want!
GREAT CAR! EXCELLENT REVIEW! BY THE WAY, HOW DO YOU GUYS GET THE DOUGH TO BUY SUCH A GREAT MACHINE! OMG! LET ME OWN THIS CAR FOR A YEAR AND DIE! lol! PRESENTLY, I OWN A 1998 BMW 218i AND IT MY 3RD BMW. THE BEST MAKER EVER! THE GERMANS ARE A BLESSING TO THE PLANET. I END THIS WITH MY DEED GRATITUDE TO THE REVIEWER FOR HIS CANDIDNESS.
Dude if its one quart low, thats not out of oil, these things hold i think its about 7 or 8 quarts of oil and all engines burn oil when they are new, its called the Break-in period.
Why is there a base model at that price. And there should be no complaints. everything should be perfect. My neighbor has this car and it's been in the shop for 2 months. Also, I saw him changing a tire. But he bought it used from a car lot, not the dealership. Big err.
122.000 Dollar? That's a bargain. Here in Austria the 750ix (not even the L- version) in roughly the same configuration costs converted in Dollar well over 200.000.
The issue would bother me too. I'm not over weight, but I'm not skinny either. I'm 6"1' so a small gap like that is an issue for me too. Funny that a cheap Australian car of the same wheel base doesn't have that issue.
1. Audio System preferences are adjustable for All About The Base.
2. Steering toughens to enhance vehicle control at higher speeds.
3. Pillars to close? Looks like the driver's seat is too close.
4. $120,000 + purchase by BMW lovers don't care about your whining, it isn't sunny, glasses off!
lmaoooo

Exactly my 550xi is so different from my acura tl sh ..like night and day ...but i enjoy my 550 because of the steering feel
No to me the S-Class does not look better than the bmw750li and it's definitely not faster
How refreshing to watch a review that isn't scared to tread carefully.
In the UK the reviews are all slightly biased, in that they do mention the little annoyances but they immediately follow it with praise so as to not rock the boat.

Cool review! The V12 in the 760Li we just tested makes you forget a lot of the issues with the stereo ;)
Get this dude out of this Bimmer that No one forced him to buy!!!! OMG!!!! Give the car to me!!!!!
10:28 you need to swipe your foot underneath the trunk, not penetrating it with your foot
I think he had valid points, but hammered them home to hard. As an overall package that is essentially 5 years old now, it still holds it's own. The Lexus is now just dated and really needs to bring a new LS out. The A8 is to understated and similar to lesser Audis.

Just have a look at the S class pillows, the seats, the trim, the shapes and how everything fits together so nice. Then compare them with the BMW ones.

I believe Kevin woke up on the wrong side of the bed the morning he did this review...
Thanks for your in depth test - and as a BMW owner for many years I can agree to many of your comments. It's wrong to think there could be nothing wrong with an expensive vehicle or product. Don't be that mainstream consumer.
The points about the oil consumption are valid and true. I feel like he gave a fair and honest view of the car. Both plus and minus points were adressed.
I think starting with positives would be a better idea. You'll get more likes and more views.
Just an update. I have an XJL 5.0 Supercharged coming. Was the only XJ in the fleet. The car isn't coming until May.
Good observation about the rear view camera in the night!
Yes he is negative but when you are spending $122,000 for a car you want it all. People spend that on a house.
lol.. i just bought my 750ld and i have to say.. you are a fool.. bang & olufsen sound system is among the best there are on the planet....
don't buy polarized sunglasses!
Not really interesting... He complains about the car and has nothing positive to say, whereas this car is fantastic.
rode in friends 750li yesterday to NC. i see the point in the back up camera. BUT the mirrors work for that. it is a fun car to drive in my opinion though. But i do respect your opinion, and your videos. well thought out sir. thank you.

Please keep up the good work
For rear lift gate to open with your leg, you need to have the car unlocked. Al least that's how it works for me.
I like your reviews man.. Great job!!
It's great how you mention every little issue, no one really does that..
Only ones that effect him ...example polarized glasses...how does that effect me and he could of moved his seat back..he mention music which he doesn't even like like pop music..so why complain about it not having bass ? If you dont even like that type of music?
finally some real review for the everyday driver! Real issue's that im as a driver need to know.
Like, keep on with the good work :)
Fantastic review, got to the point.
Great review....probably the best one out.
very detailed first hand experience, thanks
please can u advice me: Which car should be bought?
1)- Lexus LS
2)- BMW 5/7
3)- Mercedes S63/65?
4)- Porsche Panamera
Maybe he is Jelous of this car :D LOL?
You are saying the rear view camera turned useless because he was jealous?! Interesing theory... ;)
Thank you, Kevin. I assume that you get these cars just like Motortrend & Road & track get them to review? I hope you do the new S class 2014. I really like that car, and I saw it at the Frankfurt IAA. It's a beautiful car.

kevin, very nice review. how do you get your cars for review? do you rent them or have friends who are dealers?
My favorite auto reviewer! Keep up your good work!
so... are there any positives, honestly after watching this I was expecting a part 2 of positives.
Neal, obviously this is a good luxury car for casual driving, not without its issues, but I believe you can complain and they'll probably fix a camera, and automatic trunk for you
If you're looking for a sports car, look somewhere else.
I drive exact this model for a week and it was one of the funniest and expensivst weeks of my life :D
What kind of horsepower does the V* have? I can drive a 6 cylinder version in MS Flight Simulator, and that one has a 6 cyldender 315 HP engine.
Wrong video?
Did this car not have night vision collision prevention, adaptative xenon lights, automatic leveling suspensions?
give me this car and i will advertise like no other. Stop hating BMW.....he must be a agent for a competitive company
It is kind of concerning the engine is consuming oil at that rate considering my old beater Maxima with 255k on it doesn't consume a drop of oil between changes.
Your old beater Maxima isn't a v8 or have 2 turbos on it.
I'm assuming your were going for hypocrite there... Our banner image is a BMW on which we just posted the review and we liked quite a bit. That is because we don't dislike BMW or any brand, we just had some disappointments with this particular model and trim.
I was looking to buy one, now I’m not because you’ve made me cry
solid, honest review. as it should be for such an expensive car
I just wasted 18 minutes of my life 😅
This guy is just full of complaints. It’s like a Mercedes fan reviewing BMW !
#Truth
😆
Yes, indeed, because a good car tester only says "oh wow this is great".
That way, you get a way better impression of what a car is to live with.
I'm not sure about the memory issue. I keep my window and wiper buttons on always and car will save that when you start it again. 530xi.
thanks bro…
So, S8 should be bought… Merc's replacement's coming so should that be taken into consideration or Audi S8 is the choice? ( primarily for long family drives, luxury sedan)
Can U alos tell me which sports car: 458 and MP4-12C, are neck on neck, but Im confused, which one should be picked…
Good review, i love the fact that the flaws are reported too, because once youçe bought the car it's too late. Nice job!
what is the average fuel consumption?
I will request one. It depends on if they have one available in their press fleet and scheduling, but I will ask.
If you hate it so much just get rid of it..
I don't understand whats better about the 2003 7 series compared to the 2013 model?
I had the chance to test drive the latest 7 series and I have to say it's amazing. I don't know how this guy can say so much negative about this car.
hi what is the Kelvin rating of the LED adaptive lighting if you know?.
any ideas?.
thanks.
I END THIS WITH MY DEED GRATITUDE TO THE REVIEWER FOR HIS CANDIDNESS.
try cleaning the backup camera lenses
is that a radar/laser reader?
I see complaints about the reviewer in the comments which is fine but I don’t think people understand that at those price points you have to nitpick.
great review. thanks alot
Big err.
Yes it is. Our trusty Escort 8500.
18:19 That's what I'd be doing on every corner if BMW loaned me a car...
122.000 Dollar? That's a bargain. Here in Austria the 750ix (not even the L- version) in roughly the same configuration costs converted in Dollar well over 200.000.
that engine is working boy
how much is the price diff between this and the rolls?
Kevin, can you review the Jaguar Xj V6, please?
I love the 7 series
The issue would bother me too. I'm not over weight, but I'm not skinny either. I'm 6"1' so a small gap like that is an issue for me too. Funny that a cheap Australian car of the same wheel base doesn't have that issue.
Get a load of this guy lol he cry about just about everything the cars has to offer .the door the pain the steering wheel hell even the air
I really like this review. Keep doing what you do sir.
He raises valid issues. BMW fanboys need to wake up to the fact that German cars aren't perfect.
