    In the books, the murderer wrote in rache and the idea of the word being rachel was dismissed. Funny to see how the show did the exact opposite of this idea for this episode.

    While I do love the the sherlock series I really think they sometimes overdo sherlocks acting as if everything was obvious.
    YES, there are A LOT of conclusuons sherlock belives to be obvious, but in this scene in paticular the one thing thst sherlock emphasizes the most in terms of it supposed obviousness is the cardiff deduction for which HE HAD TO USE EXTRA MAP DATA in order to find the location.
    So out of all the conclusions he made, sknce neither lestrade nor john had that information it is literally the LEAST "obvious" as in "already there" and I dont get why that is supposed to be the deduction sherlock is most suprised of in terms of the others not getting it immediately

    • @mycroft16
      @mycroft16 7 месяцев назад +9

      He wasn't talking about the answer Cardiff being obvious. He was talking about the chain of reasoning being obvious. Her wet clothing, dry umbrella, wet collar = rain and higher wind. That part is obvious. As well as the splash pattern from the wheeled luggage indicating a relative distance to check for such weather.
      As the Sherlock books frequently have him state, don't fill your head with things you can easily look up. Like today's weather.

      @@mycroft16 no no no. Sherlock was giving his overall analysis and lestrade questioned him about whether he was making that stuff up, so sherlock started explaining MOST of his points (normally you would assume that he would start by explaining the things that are the least obvious) and after he did that lestrade asked "cardiff?" In a confused voice, to which sherlock turned around and answered "its obvious isnt it?"
      So while annoyed by lestrades questions he immediately started explaining but when he was asked about cardiff he got confused as to why it isnt obvious, suggesting that it should be obvious (and given he explained to other stuff without being this confused at the lack of understanding it even suggested it is MORE obvious than the other stuff) although that ist the ONLY deduction that requires outside information that jon and lestrade did not have, therefore making it by far the LEAST obvious deduction

      @@shoto5892i think he said obvious because, like he already mentioned, theres no rain in london, so obviously she was from out of london, and then she had an umbrella, but she never used it, so it obvious its a heavy rain with a strong wind, so obviously after you know this information, you should search city with such weather, hence, Cardiff, obviously

    • @shoto5892
      @shoto5892 2 месяца назад

      @@insolentnarc351 but he could clearly see none of them searching for weather. So how can someone THAT OBSERVANT be surprised that they didnt come to a conclusion that would need them to do something (search for fitting cities) which sherlock KNEW/SAW they didnt do

    Dr. Watson was literally gun ho the scene prior to this and itching to scene battle or death . Overall this show was great but things like dr. Watson being inconsistent is why it’s not perfect . They should have chose someone else for the character. And older guy would have been better I think

    • @votewithyourmoney9454
      @votewithyourmoney9454 3 месяца назад

      It's precisely his inconsistency that MAKES him such a wonderful fit for this role. John Watson fights everything inside himself. He was bored, cursing his leg, damned to spend the rest of his life sitting on his ass with an older woman tending to him. So when Sherlock came back in and said "want to go do something dangerous and exciting?" He jumped at the opportunity. Upon realizing just how excited Sherlock was about DEATH/murder, as well as recognizing that he was in way over his head, completely unable to compete with Sherlocks abilities, he began to have doubts. It's a perfectly reasonable reaction to the situation. Not to mention, Martin didn't write the script! So a different actor would not have remedied your complaint
