Awesome video! Born in 72, my life has been centered around Lake Sakakawea from the dam to Williston. I can appreciate how unique your experience was. I often stay at the hotel that was formerly your school building, soaking in all the history and individual experiences attached to this project.
I grew up in ND and remember the flooding we had to endure because of the river. One Sunday while the dam was be constructed dad drove us to the site and parked where we could watch some of the work being done. In 1960, on a vacation back to ND, we stopped and took a tour of the completed dam. Quite a sight.
Thanks, Cody. Growing up at Garrison while it was built put it to the top of my list (plus I had boxes of slides from my dad). I used slideshow software (Proshow by Photodex) to make a video out of the still shots. I myself worked at Big Bend and Gavins Point during college in the 1960s but, ashamed to say, hardly took any photos. I've tried to find the right people at COE to hopefully get them to start a library of shows about all the Missouri dams. No luck so far. arizonashep@gmail.com John Shepherdson
Indians never paid nothing for the land they claim was stolen! In fact, tribes were at war with oneanotger over land, so spare everyone the lies and stop complaining...

All right, that was cool. I wish there were videos like this on the other Missouri dams.

I was born and raised in Franklin, NE, about 25 miles west of Red Cloud.
So you got to play around on the miniature Garrison Dam: Harlan County Dam!
My uncle and family moved into the Shepherson House......
The old one in Riverton, or the new one in Riverdale ND?
6:11 nothing like that in the river anymore

That's a fact.
Right? The very last thing the government wants is people to live off the land for free. Pure blasphemy. Pay your property taxes like a good slave.
