I love when Diamond makes the bigger characters that can be worked into a Legends display. (They’ve done it a lot, it’s like they know that that’s what a lot of collectors end up doing anyway)
I dunno, while I think they get more points for sculpt, I tend to find Diamond Select lacking in articulation, stiff, and the paint just hits me as a bit drab. The metallic parts on this guy are good, but the body feels a bit muted.
@@robseman5212 Diamond Select have certain restrictions put in place by Marvel, like having the line be 7 inch scale and not articulation oriented in order for them to not compete directly with Hasbro Marvel Legends.
The DST head sculpt reminds me of how Apocalypse looked on the X-Men Legends II cover. Seeing Archangel and Mr. Sinister with him also felt like a send-up to that game.
I generally really like him especially with the Retro head swap, but I do wish he was a bit bulkier/more muscular, I feel like the Legends body sculpt is closer to how I think of him and this reminds me more of the very first Toy Biz 5” Apocalypse from the early 90’s proportionally.
You nailed the review perfectly! This Apocalypse is the best as you mentioned. The head is an issue, the wires are a bit too stiff as well, but I LOVE this figure! I have one on my X-Men shelf right now!
Absolutely love it, takes me back to watching the X-MEN series Age of Apocalypse. Great proportion compared to other diamond select and even some marvel ledgends especially the X-MEN 97 figures. Awesome figure.

Great Review of the Marvel Select Apocalypse. I've always wanted one. Finally it came out on the Marvel Select line and i just pick it up on BBTS. I have been collecting Marvel Select since 2011. Believed it or not, I have not open any of my 96 Marvel Select.
I like the colors a lot, however the lack of a neutral head and the stiffness plus the fragile parts are big cons for me. I like the marvel legends retro one quite a lot and would love to see it in these colors though.
I love the paint and colors of the Legends build a figure more. But this one seems better for size and articulation. I might get this one since the legends BAF is smaller and way more expensive.
I feel like I'm the only person who doesn't like this figure too much. And everything is really cool but the head destroys everything for me and I'm not talking about the size but about how the head itself looks, well it's absolutely not my apocalypse, hasbro and toybiz are more to my taste. + I have the impression that his legs are kind of skinny idk. Concept art was 100 times better and I would like to have such an apocalypse. The head looked better, it seemed to be buffed itself. And unfortunately, finally pass. apparently the head is too important part of the figure for me. maybe that's why I got rid of the first retro goblin. the one from vhs will be gold unlike him XD
Totally agreed. If ML retro card was in this color scheme, it would be definitely my choice. We just need to wait for Hasbro to re-release. We know the will. 😂
It's almost as if the ML was supposed to be in the TAS line. Which would be the appropriate colour scheme. But just got released as a regular retro card figure. It's not like the OG Toy Biz figures were purple and blue?
The Legends tubers can be swapped in too…. they are glued in the back of the selects but you can heat them up really hot and loosen the glue…. with the legends tubers you can move the arms all the way up without disconnecting.
I like the marvel legends, it reminds me of X-Men vs Street Fighter and animated series design, but I can't deny the accesories on the marvel select are superior
The only thing I really did not like on this figure was the head sculpt but it does look amazing with the ML sculpts. Those power coupling on the hands constantly detaching would send my OCD into overdrive.
Since Marvel Legends refuses to give us a proper release of classic colour Apocalypse (BAF was not a proper release), may as well get this Select and call it a day~

The thing that sucks a lot about mine is that the collar has a massive dent in it and it kinda ruined it for me, also the silver on the thighs were painted badly and the paint went all over the blue on the legs.
I now have the three as a display: AoA Apocalypse, Retro/TAS Apocalypse and the Selects. They really look good together. Hopefully we might get a Rise of Apocalypse En Sabuh Nur or even Cyclopalypse someday to complete the range of designs. Also, it would be nice if Hasbro or Diamond remembered that Apocalypse has more than one Horseman. Also that various other characters EG War Hulk, have assumed the mantle.
Have the figure, but during swapping out the drill arm out, one of the small wires broke off so I had to hot glue it on. That just sucks. Good figure be extra careful swapping parts
Maybe it’s because I didn’t grow up in the 90’s, but i don’t love this design of apocalypse. I prefer the other updated versions of him. Still dope figure tho gotta luv the blues

I put an Age of Apocalypse head on mine. Not comic appearance perfect, but way better sizing and I like the sculpts better on other Apocalypse figures. Awesome figure though.
The only thing I don’t like about this one is how stiff the tubes are. Took the chest off and cut off the weird plugs that are in there for no reason but now it’s great.
This Apocalypse is Fire, with more articulation and a better looking head it would've been a home run. BAF Apocalypse head looks Great on this Select. The stock head is 👎

The darker blue head sculpt looks amazing with the Select body. The colors match and the proportions are on point

I think you accidentally left the aoa head on your baf apocalypse. The aoa head has only one point on his forehead. The baf has two.
