I think this figure works more as a classic Blob while the old one was more of a modern Blob. Either way, I am picking this guy up. I never got the original so this guy has always been on my most wanted legends list.
That stop motion bit was fantastic, I know people say "lol" a lot, but I really did burst out laughing at it. Great stuff. Also Fred seems like a great figure! The price is a bit much for what you get, but quality is quality. I don't have many X-Men characters in general, but I'll probably get him eventually.
Too bad it's in a windowless box. you won't know what you're getting at that low price. Even in a window box it would be way over priced at $55 and still over priced at $40.

It sounds like Hasbro is having financial difficulties and are trying everything they can to increase sales. Here is what Hasbro can do to improve their situation: Use window boxes. Use high quality plastic. Use good distribution (NO MORE EXCLUSIVES AND LIMITED PRODUCTION RUNS!). Sell at low prices ($19.99 for regular action figures with the build-a-figure pieces and no more than $34.99 for deluxe action figures). Hasbro started having problems when they made changes. Those problems are going to get worse and worse.
I am a big fan of the "Pryde of the X-Men" pilot and X-Men arcade game, and this Blob matches his look from them much better. I remember liking how gnarly the BAF looked, but now think I prefer my Blob not as sagging. I also agree that the Mojo soft belly would have been better for this and can't imagine why it wasn't used for the figure (especially since Mojo was released at retail for around the same price anyways). 🤷♂
Righteous review! I like this one. It has a solid comic book appearance to it. The passive head sculpt has a bit of a John Candy vibe. Doesn't look like a fifty dollar figure though. More like a $35.00 deal but what do I know?

In a 1:1 comparison, I do think the new Blob is better than the old Blob. But I really would’ve liked a modern reimagined version of that old Blob figure. The excessive cellulite and exaggerated grotesque face on the old Blob is more in line with how I like Blob to be drawn
LOVE this figure from the review... VERY tempted now! Was a long wait, and I'd no idea it's a new buck... thought maybe the torso was the same, but it's not. Paint apps and texturing is GREAT. He works great as a Hulk villain, but where or where are the real Joe Fixit and (hello, Hasbro??) Professor Hulk figures?!??!
This looks very much like Freedom Force era Blob and I looooove it plus when Hasbro finally get around to making a proper grey Joe Fixit Hulk he’ll scale well in poses with him.

Still on the fence for this. I cancelled it simply because Classified revealed so much good stuff. I feel that some sets revealed will be around 60 bucks and already those sets are worth the money. Compared to blob here, the price for very few accessories, i don't know
Looks like a good fig. For some reason, I like Blob in comic / animated form much more than in plastic. One thing that throws me a bit with this one is the younger face. I think I'd have preferred a bit older.

Blob looks amazing, definitely an upgrade over the original. But the $50 to $55 price is insane given the limited accessories. Should have been in the $35 to $40 neighborhood be a more fair price.
Those comparisons with the Hulk and Juggernaut looking so comicbooky and huge with Blob looking so realistic and undersized not only makes me sick but at a 55$+ price tag to go with how underwhelming this figure is is just stomach churning…. If Marvel Select make a Blob for around 30$ it will make this look like a happy meal toy.

I dont think that's it. I think they're trying to encourage buying more online instead of retail. That was a benefit before, finding figures at Target and picking the one with the best paint applications. taking that option away may lead to even more online purchases (they have their own online retail store). Also, chances of figure swapping seems more likely to happen at retail, another reason to shop online. But really I think amazon has the highest hit-count for figure swaps. I haven't had the experience myself yet, but I see this happening mostly with amazon.

Well I missed out on King Pin and he was about the same size as the blob but way less expensive..so he would be definitely a great addition to my figure collection .but Hasbro has to bring the prices down $ 👇 a bit expensive after taxes . though.

I just couldn't justify paying $50 plus to replace it. I guess I could have sold the old one a while back and then used the money to buy the new one, but I didn't feel like going through the hassle.

I do not even know what's scary or worse, The Blob from the 1958 movie or this X-MEN villain because the word ''Blob'' gives me chills about the 1958, 1972, and the 1988 remake The Blob films because to me they sound impossible for all of us to defeat them, I'm not getting him, But, Fantastic review Shartimusprime.
Something about the Blob's scale feels off. Like his head is too big or something. He does give me the impression of being in the same scale as the other ML, instead of looking like a bigger character he looks like they just scaled up a normal sized character. He kinda looks like a chubby kid in an 8 inch line
Everyone complained about the 20th anniversary Hulk but $43 for everything it came with is much better than this $55 blob that is smaller than him. Hulk also came with much better packaging. Great vid shart but figure only seems worth it if you are a die hard X-Men person and only collect X-Men stuff

Dude, that stop motion at the end was superb! I laughed so hard I almost choked on my chicken wing. And this was a great review, as usual. Really looking forward to whenever this guy will arrive. I missed the BAF but, I'm not really fond of that design. It's kind of disgusting. This new design is more how I know the Blob from the comics. Fat but, not Fat Bastard gross. I hope they do this with Annihilus. I missed that BAF and he was always one of my favorite figures from back in the 90s ToyBiz days. Oh, the Brood Queen, too. Maybe they can do a redesign with her as a deluxe figure and include some smaller brood warriors - kind of like they did with the Mojo Pulse exclusive set.
He's quite cute compared to the og one. I guess aesthetically, he looks better, but OG one would stand out more on the shelf and is a more unique looking feature because of all that texture.

I prefer this one over the BAF because it is more aesthetically pleasing with modern figures. And considering the prices that the BAF has been at over the years, the price for this doesn't bother me as much
I have 2 gripes with this figure. #1 the Price point. If I get this figure it will be found in the wild. Shipping gets calculated into total price for me. #2, the head sculp looks like a teenager.
It looks nice as a Blob action figure. You have legitimate concerns about getting an action figure in a closed box. Wouldn't it be better to have a window box so you could inspect your purchase so you don't have to deal with the hassal of returning defective products?

I'm debating on getting this figure to make God Of War Thor. It looks like it would match up well with the Spin Master Kratos.
