- I eat at and review Sushi W on the Upper West Side of New York City. The restaurant might just have the most affordable sushi omakase in NYC. I tried the lunch omakase which includes 10 pieces of nigiri and 2 handrolls for $38.

About Me: I live in NYC and I’m about food, travel and work.
I'm impressed you were able to keep up with the pacing of the sushi deliveries and still film everything!
Me too! Things moved at a real fast pace!
James
Keep it up man
Thank you for these fun videos
I light a cigar , watch them and start cooking
Thank you for watching! I really appreciate it! Yeah, I always try my best to make my videos fun, entertaining and informative.
Great video and content!
Yeah, for that price it’s a steal! Definitely added Sushi W to my list.
Thank you! Yeah, it's definitely a great deal, especially for NYC!
OMG you are amazing love your reviews thank you
Thank you so much!! That makes me really happy to hear!
Great video, as always!!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
OMG!!! Talk about finding a diamond in the rough. Especially on the Exclusive Upper West Side of Manhattan. It's worth taking a trip to NYC just for this awesome deal. And it's nice to see the craftsman cutting and preparing the sushi right in front of you. Truly a special culinary dining experience. Every piece of sushi looked appetizing and fresh. Not like the trashy $1 sushi joints you find in most towns. Thanks for the great reporting!
Thanks always for watching! Yeah, the sushi was not only tasty, it was a great experience seeing it being prepared right in front of me.
Very nice! So this is my vacation week, we close our shop every year for family time. I have matinee theater tickets for Wednesday, this may be my lunch spot! If you're ever out by me, there's a newer great spot in Bayside. Masaaki. Dinner Omakase starts at $78, and their quality is excellent. I'm usually there once a week now🙄😂 Thanks, as always, for another wonderful review!
Thanks always for watching! That sounds like a great deal too. I'm happy that there seems to be a good amount of omakases in the $60-$80 range. With Sushi W, I wanted to see what the absolute cheapest would be like and I was overall pleased with the experience.
$40 is a bargain especially if you realize it’s the price of 2 cocktails in NYC (Manhattan)
Exactly! I even think that when the restaurant first opened, the price was only $33, which is so surprisingly affordable.
WOW what a great deal!!! This sushi looks amazing!
It definitely was a great deal!
One of our favorite places! I need to try it for lunch because I feel like the one hour dinner feels super rushed. On top of the Spanish Mackerel is a basil pesto!
Thank you! I wasn't positive on what it was, but it did taste good. Yeah, it's a quick meal, and I personally like taking my time eating, but likewise, it's great value.
Omg I finally re-found this channel 😅. Nice! Gotta try this Sushi W for its quality and price! Nice background music used btw 😊
Thank you! Yeah, that restaurant definitely provides great value!
I really enjoy your videos . Do you have any sushi recommendations for the Astoria/Jackson Heights area? I'm willing to pay more for good quality .
Thank you so much! In Astoria there's Koyo and That Place Omakase. I haven't been to either yet, but I've heard great things about them. In Jackson Heights there's Sushi On Me, which I will be going to in the future, but that one is more about the experience than the sushi.
Thnx! 😮
Thanks for watching!
Introduced to Sushi W by friends a month ago and am heading back with my son and father tomorrow. It totally spoiled me for any other sushi.
Nice! It's such a good place! I hope you have a great meal!
When I was growing up in Japan, I was taught to eat Sushi with my hand. I have kept this habit as we moved to Vancouver, Honolulu and Toronto. I can assure you, that there are many perks if you enjoy your sushi without using chopsticks.
Indeed! I would've used my hands too, but everyone else utilized the chopsticks so I went with the crowd.
I live two blocks from here. I’ve yet to have the same quality/quantity for the price. Con: super fast, even at dinner. Now that they’re famous, because of platforms like yours, it’s harder to get into. Great review.
Thank you! Yeah, it's tremendous value! You're right. It does go pretty fast and I really enjoy taking my time with a meal, but still, it's such a good sushi option.
Being a sushi addict and have been to all the high end sushi restaurants this is a great deal. I'll be going. One tip when I first had sushi in the marines in Okinawa in 79 the chef gave me a guide on how to eat sushi and it said slurp the soup no spoon and always use fingers while eating sushi. It's a insult to the chef to use chopsticks and spoons by not using them it tells Chef you like it. You can use chopsticks on sashimi portion of meal. Most high end sushi doesn't put chopsticks with course but will for sashimi and appetizer but take away when sushi comes. You should try the buffet in college point queens it's biggest and best in city and lunch is $33 sushi dim sum crispy duck with plum sauce and hibachi. Also have Chinese staples pigs and chicken feet and jellyfish. Went to Crab house on E 55 all you can eat lobster and crab for $115 no lobster it's $87 great garlic butter iron skillet steak and lobster is live not frozen
Yeah, I've heard that about eating sushi. I used chopsticks since everyone else was, but I have no problem eating with my fingers. Thank you for the recommendations! I've heard of Crab House. That's definitely a place that I'll be checking out in the future.
@@Jamesnu I've been to these hi end sushi restaurants and there's a fan base that goes there and they talk about who's making what appetizer at what time of year and when there on vacation it's wild there was a 16 year old girl I met at shion 69 Leonard where she was buy herself paying 400 for meal we talked and months later I was at Yoshida with Pete Wells and she was there and said hi Rusty and I introduced her to Pete cos I talked about her to him and the sushi fan base. He mentioned her and he in review of 16 to 61 year old he also mentioned me in his Kono review which was real nice of him. I just went to house restaurant for $180 I put on Master card then pay off in a month and go somewhere else go to daishi okume it's a $45 bento box restaurant in same building 50 Norman Ave Brooklyn
@@RR-fg2rl Nice! That's a great story! I've heard of Dashi Okume. I haven't been there yet, but it's definitely a place that I hope to visit soon.
It looked so great , what an experience
Indeed! It was good food and a great experience for the price!
Looked great at an excellent price.
It was a nice deal for sure!
Been enjoying your videos, 38 dollars is a steal, burgers cost 20+ nowadays
Thank you so much! Yeah, everything is just so expensive these days, which made this sushi lunch all the more satisfying.
I really hope they keep the price relatively low, at least less than $50 for the lunch. I went recently on your recommendation and liked it. The owner was there and was training a new person preparing the sushi. The owner was so pleasant. I hope this place doesn’t jack up their prices, like Skirt Steak, if it becomes more popular in the coming months. Fingers crossed!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, I hope that it stays relatively affordable too.
Do you think staying in Harlem would be too out of the way to access the restaurants you go to? It looks like they are mostly in midtown and I realize we would have to take the subway. The Air BnBs in Harlem are bigger and nicer than the ones in midtown for the same price.
It shouldn't be much of a problem. There are a lot of express subway lines there, which make it pretty easy to get to Midtown quick.
I can’t wait to go
It's a solid restaurant! I hope you enjoy it!
I finally made and it was very good for $38 plus tax. Thank you for pointing out this spot.
@@jesseyuan That's awesome! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
5:06 You can share your opinion while eating; that way you won't forget the experience of that food .
Indeed, but with how fast everything moved, it would've been hard to do and I didn't want to disturb the others that were dining next to me.
excuse me, you used chopsticks to eat omakase?
That's how everyone was eating it.
