I owned a 1961 Hillman superminx, 1600, drum brakes all round, bench seats front and rear, even had the original tool set and starting handle. Lovely car to drive.

Exactly the same as my dads, same colour too, although from memory the rear estate floor was ribbed body colour steel. His was a 1750cc if I remember correctly. It was built like a tank too, my dad once reversed over a farm gate post he hadn't seen, he did even feel it and nor did the car, not a mark on it. Lovely care that brings back fond memories.

My Dad had one, we went everywhere in it.

Very nice example, must be very rare now. For years I drove KJJ 902D which my father handed down to me. Lovely ride, fairly quiet, great roadholding, easy enough to service and the 1725cc engine ran like honey. Sadly the floorpan rusted in too many places and eventually in the early 1990s I donated it to an Owners Club member for spare parts. Happy days.

What a lovely superminx estate car made at Ryton. My dad had the mark 1 superminx estste he bought in 1963. He traded it in in 1966 for a Vauxhall Victor 101 estate car. It brings back some lovely memories. Tim Bleach

Bloody hell mate, calm down on those bumps! The incident at 4:49 would make me wonder how else it's been chucked about.

My dad had a Super Minx Station Wagon in NZ but his had a column shift.

To Cadifan. Column shift? Now that must have been REALLY good, instead of those silly floor shifters getting in the way!

@@nygelmiller5293 Did they not come with column shift in the UK? You could get them either way here.

@@cadifan I don't know if or not they did them with column shift. In the UK. I'm just saying it's a good idea. But I do think some firms didn't give people an option, based on whether only a few would be sold here.((Economics). How stupid! Also some firms did pickup versions, but only abroad. Crazy!

    THESE ARE CALLED REAL ESTATES.
TODAY'S ESTATES IF THERE'S ANY HARDLY ANY LUGGAGE SPACE IS THERE.
EARLIER THEY USED TO KNOW TO MAKE CARS.
TODAY THEY ARE MAKING MODELS JUST FOR SHOW.

It depends what you class as "today". The Peugeot 406 estate and the Vauxhall Astra estate of the late '90s and early '00s are very roomy with little plastic bulk and trim.

In Australia any Hillman is not worth much there is a Hillman Minx station wagon for sale in a suburb of Sydney for aud $2900 pretty cheap has been for sale for at least five years why is it to expensive or does nobody in Australia want them my brother has Hillman Minx covertable is not going major engine problems he thinks its worth a fortune when he finds out how unpopular they are he won't believe me on the other hand l own a 1997 Toyota Hilux rwd single cab aluminum tray now about four years ago l paid aud $1500 since l have owned it has increased in price by 3 to 4 times and the configuration of mine is the most desirable remember rarity doesn't make a car valuable desirability does by the way my Hilux is not that rare it more than likely another reason they are desirable us 1997 was the last year that they used the famous 22R motor and the hilux has it

That Car is NOT "honest and unmolested" ! Look at the floormat in the boot. That should be bare pressed steel and have runners on it. YOU sir are that kind of car salesman who should NOT be trusted.
