@IOwnedGod he was tieing a stopper knot in the rope... the rope can run out for the belayer and result in the climber falling or a repeller can run out of rope and fall the rest of the way... its a safety precaution
I guess, it didn't really look like that end of the rope was going anywhere, the way he attached to the anchor. Anyway, I've never seen anyone yank on a stopper knot that hard!
